Karierna sidra in načrtovanje izobraževanja (I. del)

    No full text
The article is divided into three parts. The first part concentrates on how important career is for an individual, organization and society. The author establishes that understanding of career has changed dramatically and does not only refer to climbing up the career ladder, but also moving off or even down the career ladder. The notion of career, as a lifelong and professional path, encompasses all aspects of human personality and their roles acquired through one\u27s life. On basis of vast and longitudinal research, where the author has studied career anchors of individuals, it is the objective of the author to find out on basis of what grounds do the individuals decide to take certain directions in their careers and how learning contributes to such decisions. As a source the author has used Shein\u27s theory of career anchors. Part one describes in greater detail 8 different career anchors and introduces their main features with the findings of the research, which refer to the analysis of professions (work positions) and established career anchors. The author thus verifies the hypothesis that career anchors do exist in our area.

SUMMARY Author name: Sidra Malik Title: Outcomes of late preterm newborn Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate morbidities, weight’s variations during the first 5 days of life and a feeding pattern in the late preterm newborns and evaluate admission to NICU. Objectives: 1. to evaluate the rate of the major morbidities: respiratory, jaundice, hypoglycemia, hemorrhages, infections and to compare morbidities among gestational ages: 34-35-36 weeks of gestation. 2. to evaluate weight’s change during first 5 days of life and to compare among gestational ages. 3. to evaluate the pattern of feeding at a discharge time and to compare among gestational ages. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of all late preterm live births (340/7 to 366/7 weeks of gestation) during the 1-year period between January 2015 and December 2015 in LUHS Department of Neonatology. Late preterm newborns were divided in 3 sub-groups according to gestational age: 340/6, 350/6, 360/6 weeks of gestation. The incidence of major clinical outcomes was evaluated. Statistical analysis was performed by using Chi-Square test and Kruskal wallis test. Results: Jaundice and respiratory morbidity occurred significantly more often in the newborn’s group of 34th GA compare with 35th GA and 36th GA. We compared morbidities, mode of delivery and gestational age and found that only newborns of 34th GA and 35th GA after vaginal delivery significantly more often had jaundice then newborns delivered by cesarean section. Significantly higher weight loss was in group 34th week. Comparing the weight loss with group 35th-36th GA, it was significantly highest weight loss on the 2nd day in the group 34th week. Breastfeeding rate was significantly higher in the group of newborns not admitted to NICU. Infants who were admitted to NICU were significantly more fed by formula. Conclusion: Result demonstrated an increased risk of respiratory morbidity and jaundice is associated with lower gestational age and mode of delivery. Newborns of 34th GA had higher weight loss on 2nd day. Admission to NICU, lower gestational age and cesarean section significantly reduced breastfeeding rate

Computer simulation is a vital means for the examination of expressways and urban lanes and streets. Transportation experts concentrate on the arrangement and dissemination of traffic jams on roadways. The objective of this study is to calculate and analyses the travel time, delay time, degree of saturation, and level of service and travel speed in Jordan intersection in Baghdad, Iraq using Sidra software. The number of vehicles passing Jordan intersection was recorded by the author of this work from 7am to 3pm for four days. A simulation model has been used to assess the performance of the current intersection. Results demonstrated that the level of service (LOS) for Jordan intersection is D with (35 sec/veh) average delay and degree of saturation (0.996 v/c). It was concluded that Jordan intersection needs further developments like using intelligent transportation system application (ITS) to regulate traffic signals, whereby reducing traffic jam, using closed circuit TV (CCTV) might assist traffic office in identifying jam point to reduce traffic jam

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between disordered eating patterns, psychological distress, and social self-esteem among university students in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The study included University Students as participants and it utilized a correlational cross-sectional research design. The data collection involved administering a series of questionnaires, which included the Social Self Esteem Scale (SSES), Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q), and DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale). The study adhered to ethical considerations in a rigorous manner. The results indicated a statistically significant and positive correlation between psychological distresses and disordered eating behaviors. Furthermore, a notable inverse relationship was identified between psychological distress and social self-esteem, as well as between psychological distress and disordered eating behaviors. The findings of this study carry significant implications for the design and implementation of targeted interventions aimed at promoting the mental and physical well-being of college students. Additionally, these results may contribute to the development of educational initiatives that seek to prevent the emergence and advancement of eating disorders within this susceptible group. Limitations of the study include the utilization of a cross-sectional design and the limited representativeness of the sample. These factors should be taken into account in future research endeavors

State of Conservation of Traditional Asturian Cideries: Living Heritage at Risk

    No full text
This article considers the state of conservation of the traditional llagar cideries in the Principality of Asturias, as part of wider research conducted in the context of a PhD thesis analyzing cider-making architecture within the six districts of the Asturian “Comarca de la Sidra” cider-making area. It presents the results of extensive field work with a great array of data that has been analyzed, sorted, and systematized comparatively both in graphic form and in tables and datasheets. The study’s conclusions are broadly unoptimistic. The progressive discontinuation of cider-making in these traditional buildings along with a lack of real measures for their protection leads the author to find this heritage to be at risk. Even so, there remain some noteworthy examples, some still in use, which are living testimony to these traditional industrial architectures.O objeto de estudo deste artigo é o estado de conservação dos llagares tradicionais de sidra no Principado das Astúrias.
