The Essential Aurobindo: Writings of Sri Aurobindo
The coming of a spiritual age must be preceded by the appearance of an increasing number of individuals who are no longer satisfied with the normal intellectual, vital, and physical existence of man, but perceive that a greater evolution is the real goal of humanity and attempt to effect it in themselves, to lead others to it, and to make it the recognized goal of the race. In proportion as they succeed, and to the degree to which they carry this evolution, the yet unrealized potentiality which they represent will become the actual possibility of the future. ―Sri Aurobindo, The Human Cycle
Sri Aurobindo stands out as one of the deepest and most profoundly relevant of contemporary Asian spiritual masters speaking to the West. His vision transcends the distinctive strengths and weaknesses of India and the West, and his discipline brings the yogas of the Gita to the task of world transformation. His collaborator, The Mother, offers a blueprint for the utopian community Auroville, giving sage advice on the ideal of a spiritually based approach to education. Robert McDermott\u27s afterword in this revised edition recounts the increased significance of Aurobindo\u27s message in the West―especially for America―since the book was first published in 1973. Here is an invaluable resource for understanding the underlying connections and common ground between Eastern and Western teachings and traditions for modern thinkers and spiritual seekers.https://digitalcommons.ciis.edu/facultypublications/1058/thumbnail.jp
Sąmonės koncepcija Sri aurobindo estetikoje
This article discusses the aesthetic conception of Sri Aurobindo, and concentrates on his concept of consciousness. Considering art as manifestation of one of the highest levels of Divine consciousness, Supermind, Sri Aurobindo formulates the concept of the future poetry and art, which is based on the harmonization of all the levels of human being. His critical insight into cultural heritage of East and West leads him to the possibility to proclaim art as a transcendental action, which can transform the Being itself by the force of Supermind. The aim of the present article is to define the main features of the novelty of Sri Aurobindo’s aesthetic concept and to discuss its essential categories and significance in the light of consciousness. In the article hermeneutic and historical methods have been used.Šiame straipsnyje nagrinėjama Sri Aurobindo estetikos samprata, kurios centre - originali sąmonės koncepcija. Meną laikydamas vienu iš aukščiausios dieviškosios sąmonės - Antsąmonės - pasireiškimų, Sri Aurobindo formuluoja ateities poezijos ir meno sampratą, kuri remiasi visų magiškosios būties lygmenų harmonizavimu bei perkeitimu. Kritikai permąstęs tiek Vakarų, tiek Rytų kultūrinio paveldo pasiekimus, jis postuluoja meninio akto kaip transcendentalaus veiksmo galimybę keisti pačią būtį, veikiant integruojančiai Antsąmonės jėgai. Šio straipsnio tikslas - apibūdinti svarbiausius Sri Aurobindo estetinės koncepcijos novatorikumo bruožus, aptarti pagrindines jos kategorijas ir reikšmę sąmonės požiūriu pasitelkus hermeneutinį bei istorinį lyginamąjį metodus
