[[abstract]]The thesis deals with the ‘lian…dou/ye …’ construction in modern Chinese. In order to clarify the informational status of ‘lian…’, issues on topic and focus are shown in the first part of this thesis. Then, discussions on semantic functions and conversational implicatures of this construction constitute the sencond part. Lastly, the formal complexity and pedagogical instructions will be presented as well.

Comments Five female specimens were captured at a fruiting fig tree (Ficus oppositifolia); none is available for study at the Harrison Institute. The variation in forearm length (63.5–76.9 mm) and body mass (22–56 g) suggests that C. brachyotis (Muller, 1838) may also be present in the sample; this lat- ter taxon is currently only recorded with certainty from Rakhine State. Evaluation of low-power vision platform for robotic industrial application
Cracking in plane turbine blades is the significant defect for the airplanes. Cracking usually occurs because of high pressure and temperature during manufacturing processes. In this project, automatic crack inspection system will be developed and implemented on real-time system. Inspection system is implemented on Jetson Tk1 embedded hardware and Robot Operating System (ROS). Many researched methods will be compared and inspection algorithm is developed based on the comparison results. Inspection algorithm includes a sequence of image processing methods and machine learning classifier to correctly output the defect location. For the final step, defects location coordinates will then return to ABB Industrial Robot for further executions and corrections. Accuracy rate of 89% was achieved at the final classification stage of the system with the average processing time less than 1 second.Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science

M.Phil.Recently, it was found that there are two different types of short-range orders(SROs) in undercooled molten Pd-Ni-P, denoted by i-SRO and ℓ-SRO. In the former, there is a right shoulder in the second peak of its structure factor. For this reason, it is taken to have icosahedral symmetry. In the latter, the second peak of its structure factor has both a left shoulder and a right shoulder. Because of the presence of the right shoulder, ℓ-SRO is also taken to have icosahedral symmetry. The i-SRO and ℓ-SRO together form a metastable liquid miscibility gap (MLMG). As a result, when a Pd-Ni-P melt is cooled into the MLMG, spinodal decomposition occurs and the original homogeneous melt splits into two metastable liquids of different compositions.More recently, Pd-Ni-P melts of compositions outside the MLMG were studied. A first-order liquid-liquid phase transition (LLT) was established for the reaction, i-SRO -> ℓ-SRO. In the experiments, detailed microstructural changes occurring during the LLT were obtained. In other words, this is an entropic approach to prove the existence of the first-order phase transition in Pd-Ni-P melts. From thermodynamics, a first-order phase transition is also accompanied by an abrupt change in volume. Surface calculations with asymptotically long-ranged potentials in the full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave method
Although the supercell method has been widely used for surface calculations, it only works well with short-ranged potentials, but meets difficulty when the potential decays very slowly into the vacuum. Unfortunately, the exact exchange-correlation potential of the density functional theory is asymptotically long ranged, and therefore is not easily handled by use of supercells. This paper illustrates that the authentic slab geometry, another technique for surface calculations, is not affected by this issue: It works equally well with both short- and long-ranged potentials, with the computational cost and the convergence speed being essentially the same. Using the asymptotically long-ranged Becke-Roussel' 89 exchange potential as an example, we have calculated six surfaces of various types. We found that accurate potential values can be obtained even in extremely low density regions of more than 100 angstrom away from the surface. This high performance allows us to explore the asymptotic region, and prove with clean numerical evidence that the Becke-Roussel' 89 potential satisfies the correct asymptotic behavior for slab surfaces, as it does for finite systems. Our finding further implies that the Slater component of the exact exchange optimized effective potential is responsible for the asymptotic behavior, not only for jellium slabs, but for slabs of any type. The Becke-Roussel' 89 potential may therefore be used to build asymptotically correct model exchange potentials applicable to both finite systems and slab surfaces.SCI(E)ARTICLE119
