No full textFarid ud-Din Attar, one of the prominent and leading poets of Eastern literature, still keeps researchers busy not only with the valuable works he has left, but also with the numerous works doubtfully belonging to him. Fotovvatname of Attar is one of these works, which has provoked deliberations concerning authorship for nearly a century. Spanning from Germany to Pakistan, these lengthy deliberations have encompassed the copies existing in Turkey, Iran and Romania, but poets such as Hatifi of Hargird and Izzi-i Mervi, and scholars such as Said Nefisi, Franz Taeschner and Abdulbaki Golpinarli have not yet come to a definite conclusion. By setting out from a manuscript, which is registered in Istanbul University Central Library's Persian Manuscript Collection, Number F 1288 and which has not been seen or evaluated by the above mentioned scholars, this article will bring the deliberations to a new dimension and the text cited will be published for the first time in its original script
Traditional system for the production of kewda essential oil and attar
No full text399-402Kewda (Pandanus odoratissimus Linn. f.) flower distillation is high value because of its flavour and fragrance. Using the age-old traditional Deg-bhabka method, till date the floral essential oil and attar are produced. This traditional method is appropriate, popular, economical and convenient for kewda distillation. According to the number of flowers, the size of deg or bhabka is used for distillation. Essential oil and attar both can be made in the same distillation unit. This system can be operated at the plantation site. The products have high demand in the market value. The traditional system of kewda distillation is cost effective; simple operation techniques are involved for kewda oil & attar production

Chemopreventive effect of <i>Cousinia shulabadensis</i>Attar & Ghahraman Ethanol extract
No full textMatrix metalloprotainases (MMPs) play an important role in several pathologic processes such as malignancy in which they facilitate invasion and metastasis and can be targets for anticancer therapies. Here, in this study, we investigated the cytotoxicity effect of Cousinia shulabadensis Attar & Ghahraman extract as well as its impact on MMPs activity using a model of cell line (Fibrosarcoma-Wehi164). To assess anti-invasiveness potentials, a modified zymoanalysis method was used to measure MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities in the conditioned-media. The concentration necessary to produce 50% cell death was >80µg/ml for ethanol extract of Cousinia shulabadensis, while a 23 µg/ml concentration of the diclofenac sodium produced the same effect. The invasion of WEHI 164 cells was considerably inhibited at concentrations > 20 µg/ml by total plant extract. No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
