Identification of Molecular Targets and Anti-Cancer Agents in GBM: New Perspectives for Cancer Therapy
: The authors of the present literature piece were invited to participate in the present Special Issue at the beginning of 2022, and we were all very enthusiastic at the prospect of assembling a series of articles on new molecular targets and anti-cancer agents in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) [...]
Knowledge extraction, research projects and archives management.
Archives play an important role in the knowledge society and must respond ever more
quickly to information needs. For example, in the case of universities, research projects are a
strategic asset for the growth of territories, the rationalization of financial resources and the
development of archival science. Clearly, the documentation that characterizes the research projects
has an administrative value as well. This paper, investigates the possibility of extracting knowledge
from this class of documents. In particular, the purpose of this paper is to experiment with the
application of some automatic metadata extraction tools on archival documents. The chosen tools
use Machine Learning technologies and supervised learning techniques together with newer deep
learning technologies. An approach of metadata automatic extraction could provide a greater
continuity between production and representation of objects. Metadata can be useful in accessing or
sharing contents within digital preservation systems (i.e. ontologies, Linked Data)

Music and emotion in religious performances in a migratory context: can rite coincide with right?
The act of musical performance reveals the musicians' emotions and aesthetic experience in the most intense moment of the music-making process. In polyphonic music practices, this occurs by coordinating individual ways of making music in a group. In the course of this process, social relations also take place. The book presents the research of ethnomusicologists from this perspective in the interdisciplinary discourse of the subject. Fulvia Caruso contribution discusses issues about migrants in resettlement situations enacting the music culture they have grown up with, especially in terms of its link with memory, affections, religious rites, and as a place to express the rights to perform their beliefs in their new environment in the town of Cremona, Italy. To articulate her reflections the author presents two of the several religious situations she is documenting and analysing: the pentecostal Church of Bethel and the catholic Chorale de Saint Michel Archange. Both composed mostly by Ivorians, their religous emotional and esthetic experiences diverge because of the space they are enabled to create. This is demonstrated throug the analysis of two celebrations of the two rites, in particular observing theobject of repetition
The name of Bonaventura Caruso, a priest and goldsmith from Messina, first appears around the 1870s. The author, through the study of sources and thanks to careful stylistic analysis, proposes the identification and attribution to Caruso of a group of works of sacred silverware produced in Messina today in the treasuries of the Mother Churches of Geraci Siculo and Mistretta, all of which are characterized by the presence of Rococo forms and decorative motifs, but already tending toward neoclassicism
Assay of healthful properties of wild blackberry and elderberry fruits grown in Mediterranean area
Berry fruits consumption is associated with the prevention of most illness, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and obesity. Moreover, these berries can modify the post-prandial glycemic response, through the inhibition of the enzymes responsible for carbohydrates hydrolysis: α-amylase and α-glucosidase. In this study we evaluated wild blackberry and elderberry fruits grown in the Mediterranean area, in terms of healthy composites, in particular phenolic compounds. Our results showed a high variability in the concentration of phytochemicals, with higher values in elderberry than in blackberry extracts. Total phenolic content ranged between 635.24–1336.28 mg gallic acid equivalents/100 g fw for blackberries and between 391.46and 811.65 mg gallic acid/100 g fw for elderberries whereas total flavonoids content ranged between 1738 and 4971 mg quercetin/100 g fw and 1136–3174 mg quercetin/100 g fw for blackberries and elderberries, respectively. Results indicated that wild blackberry and elderberry fruits represent a natural source of antioxidant compounds, besides having a potential inhibitory effect against α-glucosidase (27.67% inhibition and 28.27% for blackberries and elderberries, respectively) and α-amylase, providing a support for patients with mellitus diabetes. Anyway, future investigations based on clinical trials are required in order to prove the healthful effects of health promoting compounds on diabetic patients
