Abstract  In this article we will try to take stock of the mode of antithesis worked by the French-speaking Algerian writer Yasmina Khadra and the elements of the dialogue related to the personified idea in the three novels of her trilogy on the dialogue of deaf (The Swallows of Kabul, The Sirens of Bagdad and The Attack). We will also analyze pathos as an argumentative process adopted and supported by the author, namely his behavior that is both interpretative and authoritarian

Independence: Supreme Character of a People Algerianness Through Letters

Since its emergence (during colonization), Algerian literature of Frenchexpression has followed a singular course which, proceeding from a striking identity ofwriting, has been able to gradually reclaim and preserve its “Algerianness” as a singulativemode of a reappropriation of the primordial Self. History, culture and language are itsinstruments. However, can an enlightened analytical reading of the concept of “Algerianity”, via theFrench-speaking Algerian text, today only describe the particularity and highlight thesingularity of this writing, as complex as it is complicated in the absence of a watchwordbehind which to line up like that of Negritude? Patriotism retains only one and only thing:to write an Algerian-style romantic fiction is to forge the soul of a hero in the interactive focusof national history and its heritage in the light of cultural scenes and language practicesmastered by “visionary” Algerian writers

Spirituality of the Idea in Malek Bennabi The Ineffable Presence of the Thinker

If the spiritual is the starting point for any reform in Malek Bennabi’s conception, the religious spirit is his intellectual and affective atmosphere. An Algerian humanist, Malek Bennabi does not content himself, in his work Le problème des idées dans le monde musulman, with determining the ideological problem in our society, but with defining it sufficiently on the double level of methodology and epistemology. The plan of the thinker is very clear: he knowingly tries through studied argumentative strategies and weighed pedagogical considerations to awaken the “lost” consciences and the “misguided” spirits of Muslims subjugated by certain aspects of the ambient materialism. In the context of this article, and in view of what is currently happening with the effects of the new modes of deceptive democratic campaigns in the West of the 20th century, we must reread Malek Bennabi with conviction and adhere to the idea that he very early understood the Other and his falsified project. His work offers us a “charter” for such an original renaissance project, watered by a culture and a civilization on a human scale as a source of inspiration and motivation.

Determinants of financial solvency in Algerian insurance companies: an econometric analysis using ardl

This study aims to investigate the determinants of financial solvency for Algerian insurance companies and the strength and direction of their impact on the solvency margin of these companies. This was done by constructing an econometric model of financial solvency and its influencing variables using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) methodology with Eviews 12 software for the period 1998–2021. The study found that the determinants of solvency—namely, insurance premiums, compensation, financial investments, and technical provisions—maintain a long-term equilibrium relationship with financial solvency. The findings revealed that a 1% increase in insurance premiums, financial investments, and technical provisions will lead to an increase in the financial solvency margin by 1.75%, 0.38%, and 0.78%, respectively, in the long term. Moreover, the study identified a long-term inverse relationship between compensation and the financial solvency margin, where a 1% increase in compensation results in a 1.79% decrease in the financial solvency margin. Additionally, the study found that any 1% shock to solvency determinants will have a lasting impact for one year and seven months before returning to its normal equilibrium state

Mining the Web and Literature to Discover New Knowledge about Diabetes

AbstractSocial Networks are powerful social media for sharing information about various issues and can be used to raise awareness and collect pointers about associated risk factors and preventive measures in chronical disease like diabetes. Since the olden times, knowledge in medicine was established through recording and analysing human experiences. This paper presents the results of text mining techniques of more than five hundred thousands of texts retrieved from social networks, blogs, forums, and also research papers from MEDLINE database to discovering new knowledge related to diabetes disease covering symptoms and treatments. The text mining approach consists of two tasks, descriptive and predictive. The descriptive task was to identify explicit references to the diabetes diseases diagnosis and treatments, whereas the predictive task focused on the prediction of the diabetes disease status when the evidence was not explicitly asserted. The findings are then compared to the standard diabetes diagnosis and treatments and only those which are not listed in the standards are retained as hypothesis for further validation by clinicians and medical researchers in the domain of diabetic disease

Cloud-based Lineament Extraction of Topographic Lineaments from NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission Data

AbstractThis paper presents initial results of a JavaTM based, feature extraction tool, which represents a standard implementation of a hill-shading algorithm that transforms a 2D image to pseudo 3D image to enhance edge contrast in combination with an edge detection Canny algorithm that performs segmentation to produce multidirectional sun-shaded images and their edges. Our goal is to firstly automate this processes in JavaTM to obtain multidirectional optimization of edge discovery and secondly scale this algorithm to the complete SRTM raster collection at multiple pixel resolutions to document the distribution of Earth topographic discontinuities from continental to regional and local scales, respectively on the order of 1000s, 100s and 10s of kilometers. This tool will support the automatic extraction of lineaments of the transformed images to predict the existence of linear features that can be often found in association with ore deposits and landslides, if they represent tectonic lineaments. The collection of processed big data, represents a multi-scale data repository that may find use for these and other geological and environmental applications. We present preliminary outputs from a case study conducted in the Flin-Flon greenstone belt in Canada, which is well known for its base-metal endowment. In this study, two main shaded relief images with multidirectional illumination were created in Java each with four azimuth angles of the light sources and from which our developed tool extracts automatically multiple lineaments. The extracted lineaments represent both positive and negative elevation breaks, due to sudden slope inversions identifying dominantly crest lines and valleys. Preliminary results show good agreement with drainage networks, mapped fault lines and orientations of structures measured in the field. The main trends of the extracted lineaments of both images are NW-SE, N-S, E-W and NE-SW

The paper presents an eye tracking analysis study to help us understand the visual behavior and pattern of Normal Developing children and Autistic children while viewing a socially-rich stimulus consists of human and social interactions. An eye tracking experiment consists of displaying different images with social stimuli (containing human faces) to the child and the eye tracker captured and tracked the child\u27s eye gaze movements, then analyzed to identify where specifically in the stimulus is the child looking at. The finding indicates a significant difference was found between the two groups viewing patterns and behavior when were presented with a scene included material with human and social interaction content. The study also reveals that large percentage of Autistic participants expressed minimum interest and time looking at face area, evident by significant time spent fixations on non-face regions, linking to lack of interest in socially relevant information, especially the two small Areas of Interests (AOIs) eyes and mouth regions comparing to the normal developing children. The results can be used to improve the life style of other children who have a risk to develop Autism as well as discover earlier signs of ASD
