However, very few people who have the name to live forever become immortal and shine like stars in the sky. One such person is M Aslam. This article will discuss M Aslam\u27s life and literary works. M Aslam, pen name of Mohammad Aslam, was born in 1885 in Lahore. He received his early education in Lahore. Initially, M Aslam wrote poetry. However, following the advice of his mentor, Allama Iqbal, he changed his style of writing to prose. M Aslam is well-known as a novelist, having written over two hundred novels: historical novels, social novels, romantic novels, thirteen fictional collections, a poetry book, four books on the subject of comic literature, thirty-four short stories for children, many political and religious essays, and sketches. In total, M Aslam has written over a hundred thousand pages of works. M Aslam passed away in 1983

    Effects of bond-slip and masonry infills interaction on seismic performance of older R/C frame structures

    The seismic response of older R/C frames can be particularly sensitive to interaction with masonry infills, poor section detailing and smooth reinforcing bars. These aspects are quite often neglected in design and assessment both with linear and nonlinear models due to the modelling complexity and inherent increase in computational effort. This work presents a review of practical nonlinear models available in literature and quantifies, at the system performance level, the influence of bond-slip in critical plastic hinge locations and interaction effects with infill panels and shear deficient columns. Bond-slip effects are directly incorporated into the nonlinear fiber section models through a simplified approach and nonlinear shear behavior of columns is aggregated at the element level in conjunction to the common diagonal infill strut scheme. Three different infilled frame configurations are analyzed: a) bare frame, b) partially infilled frame (pilotis frame) and c) uniformly infilled frame. Static pushover analyses and Incremental Dynamic Nonlinear Response History Analyses (IDA) are performed spanning a wide range of hazard levels. Comparative analysis with concurrent incorporation of infill-induced shear damage and bond-slip quantify the loss of strength for the uniformly infilled configuration and the increased deformations for the bare frame and partially infilled configurations in terms of seismic performance parameters

    Influence of bond-slip effect and shear deficient column in the seismic assessment of older infilled frame R/C structures

    Presence of masonry infills and detailing of reinforcement can have a significant influence on the response of the older R/C frames under seismic excitation. After several major earthquakes failure of infilled frames were observed due to the presence of shear deficient columns and inadequate detailing of smooth reinforcing bars near the joints. These aspects are quite often neglected in linear or nonlinear models because of the modelling complexity and increase in computational effort. The objective of this work is to identify the consequences of bond-slip in critical zones such as plastic hinge locations and the presence of shear deficient columns. To investigate these effects on the response of a sample 2D frame, three different infilled-frame configurations are analyzed using an accurate yet viable approach based on the diagonal strut scheme (ASCE41/FEMA356): a) bare frame, b) partially infilled frame (pilotis frame) and c) uniformly infilled frame. Bond-slip effects are directly incorporated into the nonlinear fiber section models (Spacone et al. 1996) through the simplified approach proposed by Braga et al. (2012), and nonlinear shear behavior of columns is aggregated at the element level. Static pushover analyses and Incremental Dynamic Nonlinear Response History Analyses (IDA) are performed spanning a wide range of hazard levels.     Seismic performance of older R/C frame structures accounting for infills-induced shear failure of columns

    Older infilled frame R/C structures have several deficiencies as compared to seismic code-conforming structures, inherent to the behavior of the structural elements and interaction between structural and nonstructural components, which should be accounted for an accurate performance assessment. In order to investigate the importance of incorporating the contribution of the infills (typically considered as non-structural members) and their interaction with non-ductile columns in a building structural model, a comprehensive performance based earthquake assessment over a range of hazard levels is carried out through Nonlinear static and Incremental Dynamic Analyses of a 2D frame model incorporating: (1) fiber section axial force-moment interaction, (2) cracking and crushing of the infills and (3) infills-induced shear failure of columns. The analyses are performed on three different common structural configurations: (A) bare frame, (B) uniformly infilled frame, and (C) partially infilled frame (pilotis frame). Results show the importance of correctly accounting for shear failure of columns when modeling the infill-frame interaction, and the influence of the inelastic shear law, opening placement, type of infills, and choice of infill constitutive model

Mohammad Ardeshir is known in the first place for his prominent works in basic logic and constructive mathematics. His areas of interest are however much broader and include topics in intuitionistic philosophy of mathematics and Arabic philosophy of logic and mathematics. In addition to numerous research articles in leading international journals, Ardeshir is the author of a highly praised Persian textbook in mathematical logic.
