Note sintattiche e stilistiche in margine a un passo origeniano (Homilia II in psalmum LXXVI)
Language and style of many ancient Christian authors have received over time, from secondary literature, an attention that is certainly too little overall. It is therefore not surprising that an author such as Origen, rightly considered the noble father of Christian biblical exegesis, has received so little attention over the centuries with regard to the constitutive linguistic structures of his writings. Through an essay of literary ana- lysis – morphosyntactic and stylistic – of a recently discovered Origenian text (Homilia II in Psalmum LXXVI, 1), it can be said that our author really seems to have fully as- similated the essence of the methods of rhetoric
Starting from a controversial passage of the ‘Epistle of Barnabas’ (IV,6), this paper aims at demonstrating: a) that the reading offered by Codex Sinaiticus (א) is supported by morphology and syntax, as well as by the historical context the ‘Letter of Barnabas’ comes from; b) that the dispute about the 'covenant' regards Judaism, better then judaizing Christians
IL QUADRO E LA CORNICE: I TESTIMONIA BIBLICI NELLA TRADUZIONE DI RUFINO DELLE OMELIE ORIGENIANE SUL SALMO 36
This contribution aims at examining the Rufinian translation of Origen’s Homiliae in psal- mum 36, recently rediscovered in cod. Mon. Gr. 314. For this purpose an attempt is made to shed light on a contextual element which seems important for a global evaluation of the Rufinus’ work, that is the biblical witnesses adduced, which, in a comparison between Greek original and Latin translation, present many additions and subtractions. The biblical passages inserted by Rufinus and missing in Origen are several, as are those present in the original and missing in the translation. In this paper we limit ourselves to an examination of Pauline texts added by Rufinus which are also mentioned in his other works
L’antigiudaismo neLL’A Diogneto. Alcune riflessioni
This article aims at focusing on the passages of the Ad Diognetum that attack some ele-ments of Judaism. From an examination of these texts and from a comparison with Chri-stian apologetics, it appears that the topic present in the Ad Diognetum is largely indebted to collections of anti-Jewish texts, previously put together and also used by pagan au-thors, like Celsus
This contribution examines some passages (H15Ps I,2; H67Ps I,2) of the recently discovered “New homilies” on the Psalms – which can certainly be considered of Origen – in relation to the theme of παρρησία. While, in the first case, the oc- currence of the term is part of a long quotation from the Acts of the Apostles, in the second we are faced with a large development regarding the attitude of man towards God, and, therefore, prayer
UN POETA PER TUTTE LE STAGIONI. USI E RIUSI D’UN VERSO LUCREZIANO
A Lucretian verse (1.304: tangere enim et tangi nisi corpus nulla potest res), located in the context of the exposition of the atomistic doctrine as the basis of matter, had a history of interpretation that lasted several centuries, involving classical and Christian authors. This denies that Lucretius, almost the only intermediary of Epicurean thought for Latin writers, must still be considered an author disliked by Christian authors, as a detailed examination can only confirm

Origen’s Alexandrian Legacy: Some News
Origen has in fact introduced the philological-grammatical method, well established in Hellenistic-Roman literary culture, to the analysis of biblical texts and the scrutiny of their manuscripts. Philology appears in a largely positive light, but it has a dark side, as it can be abused. The philological study of biblical texts is such that it often leaves a ‘hermeneutical space’ for readers, without forcing them to a single interpretation. Scriptural study is a way to understand the existence and presence of God, but it is not the only way
