ESTIMATING THE ECONOMIC VALUES ASSOCIATED WITH EPDS FOR ANGUS BULLS AT AUCTION
The genetic traits that an Angus bull possesses convey the reproductive and economic value of the animal to potential buyers. This paper examines and draws comparisons between the value of actual production weights and production EPDs, while also establishing values for ultrasound EPDs. Results indicate that only one EPD, birth weight, was valued by buyers more than its corresponding actual weight, though actual weights and EPDs significantly impacted price. The forgotten first: John MacCormick's 'Dùn-Àluinn'
The first Gaelic novel, John MacCormick's Dùn-Àluinn, no an t-Oighre 'na Dhìobarach, was serialised in the People's Journal in 1910 before being published in its entirety in 1912. Within a year of the publication of Dùn-Àluinn as a novel the second Gaelic novel, Angus Robertson's An t-Ogha Mòr, appeared in print, underlining the renaissance which Gaelic literature was experiencing. Both novels, while remarked upon by contemporaries and by general studies of Gaelic literature, have been all but ignored to date, with no criticism or analysis of either having been published. The main aim of this article is to offer some general comments about MacCormick's Dùn-Àluinn and thus to open up both the novel and indeed other early twentieth-century Gaelic writers and their work to further scrutiny. Consideration will be given to the author himself, the contemporary Gaelic literary scene and finally some of the more interesting aspects of the novel itself
Pengaruh Motivasi dan Pelatihan Terhadap Produktivitas Kerja Karyawan PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus cabang Surabaya
Pada era globalisasi dalam dunia restoran Black Angus sangat maju ini para pelaku manajemen sumber daya manusia dituntut untuk lebih meningkatkan kompetensi dan konsistensi bisnis restoran Black Angus agar dapat bersaing ketat dengan para kompetitomya. Dengan adanya persaingan pesat antar restoran, maka PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus Cabang Surabaya harus berusaha mencapai kinerja restoran yang baik, maka sebaiknya PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus Cabang Surabaya membutuhkan seorang pemimpin yang baik' Berdasarkan analisa teoritis terhadap permasalahan yang ada maka hipotesa yang dapat penulis ajukan adalah "Apabila PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus memberikan gaji yang menarik, maka diharapkan dapat meningkatkan semangat dan gairah kerja sehingga produktivitas kerja karyawan juga akan meningkat". Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sampai sejauh mana pengaruh motivasi dalam menimbulkan semangat dan gairah kerja karyawan pada perusahaan tersebut demi tercapainya tujuan yang telah ditetapkan oleh perusahaan, serta memberikan sumbangan pemikiran dan saran-saran kepada pimpinan PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus Cabang Surabaya dalam usaha peningkatan produktivitas kerja karyawan.
Padajenis penelitian menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda. Populasi dan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 30 karyawan pada PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus Cabang Surabaya. Jenis data adalal data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Sumber data, menggunakan sumber data primer dan sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan riset kepustakaan dan lapangan. Pengolahan data dengan uji validitas, reliabilitas dan Uji Asumsi Klasik. Kemudian dilakukan penguj ian hipotesis dengan Uji F, Uji t dan menganalisis mana variabel yang paling dominan. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan teknik analisis data statistik program SPSS 1 1.0. Nilai koefisien regresi untuk variabel bebas motivasi (X1) sebesar 0,029 merupakan variabel bebas yang berpengaruh paling dominan terhadap variabel produktivitas kerja karyawan (Y). Nilai thilung untuk variabel bebas motivasi (X1) sebesar 0,286 > tto',r 2,052 artinya terdapat pengaruh motivasi (X1) terhadap produktivitas kerja karyawan (Y). Nilai koeltsien regresi untuk variabel bebas pelatihan (X2) sebesar 0,799 merupakan variabel bebas yang berpengaruh terhadap variabel produktivitas kerja karyawan (Y). Nilai thllung untuk variabel bebas pelatihan (X2) sebesar 9,393 > tt*"r 2,052 alltr terdapat pengaruh pelatihan (X2) terhadap produktivitas kerja karyawan (Y)' Dari kedua variabel bebas yang diteliti temyata variabel bebas motivasi (Xr) memiliki pengaruh paling dominan, dimana dengan nilai T sebesar 0,286. Dengan koefisien parsial 0,055 lebih besar dari nilai T variabel bebas pelatihan (X2) sebesar 9,393 dengan koefisien parsial 0,875. Dalam upaya meningkatkan produktivitas kerja karyawan pada PT Resto Indonesia Black Angus Cabang Surabaya harus seksama menempatkan seorang pemimpin perusahaan untuk mencapai produktivitas kerja karyawan

Soil erosion near Barry, Angus
At the time of heavy rainfall in September, 1985, spectacular gully and associated rill erosion occurred in a field, newly sown with winter barley along downslope cultivation lines, near Barry, Angus. Rainfall intensities exceeding 3 mm hr-1 were recorded during two separate storms in a three-day period. An estimated 88 t of material was removed equivalent to a yield of approximately 14.7 t ha-1 This is believed to be the first quantified account of water erosion of arable land in the Dundee-Arbroath area of the Angus coastal lowlands
