    Genetic diversity patterns of rice (Oryza sativa L.) landraces after migration by Tai Lue and Akha between China and Thailand

    Cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) is genetically diverse, and the numerous landraces represent a valuable genetic resource for present and future rice breeding. Part of the genetic rice diversity is held by the ethnic minority groups of Tai Lue and Akha who migrated from southern China to northern Thailand over the past two centuries. We analysed variation in simple sequence repeats (SSR) and an indel in the ORF100 region in their rice germplasms in Thailand and in China to understand if the communities today in the Nan and Chang Rai provinces in Thailand still cultivate traditional rice landraces of the Xishungbanna region in southern China, and how such traditional germplasms have evolved in isolation after the human migrations. We found one multilocus genotype shared by all upland rice populations in China and Thailand and that several allelic combinations of the Thai populations can be traced to the alleles pools of upland and paddy rice of the Xishungbanna rice populations. However the frequent occurrence of hybrids between upland and paddy rice in the Thai and Chinese germplasms of both the ethnic communities reveal genetic erosion of the traditional landraces due to hybridization and introgression

    Very High Food Plant Diversity among Ethnic Groups in Northern Thailand

    The combination of the high biodiversity and many ethnicities in Thailand results in extensive ethnobotanical studies, especially in the northern part of the country. Here we have assembled 7620 records from 60 references regarding how plants are used for food among 14 ethnicities in northern Thailand. The uses are based on 1182 different plant species. Vegetables are the most common food category, which contributed more than 60% of all use-reports and involved nearly 900 species. This was followed by the dessert fruit category, which included about 350 species and over 1800 use-reports. The similarity among the different ethnicities was low and the number of uses and species recorded among different ethnicities were significantly related to the number of studies that had been conducted for each group. This implies that additional ethnobotanical studies are still needed in order to conserve and compile the valuable traditional knowledge related to food plants. Many exotic species are now an important part of traditional knowledge, whereas rare endemic species are uncommon among wild food plants. This situation leads to a loss of traditional knowledge about food plants and reduced awareness of their importance. As a key to using this great reservoir of food for local people, traditional knowledge related to local wild food plants can contribute to the zero-hunger goal of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). More studies on the nutrient content and health properties of these plants could lead to the development of new crops to meet present consumer demands

    Lai teorētiski un praktiski izzinātu sajūtu attīstīšanas iespējas dabaszinību nodarbībās brīvā dabā darba autore Inta Ansonska izanalizējusi vairāku pētnieku uzskatus par 2-3 gadu vecu bērnu attīstības likumsakarībām un brīvdabas pedagoģijas pamatprincipiem sensoro spēju attīstīšanai, kā arī veikusi pedagoģisko izmēģinājumdarbību, izveidojot un novadot Jelgavas PII “Pasaciņa” jaunākā vecuma grupiņas bērniem pēc brīvdabas pedagoģijas principiem izstrādātu dabaszinību nodarbību ciklu “Rudens”. Darba autore secina, ka, gan pēc pieejamā teorētiskā materiāla, gan veicot praktiskās pedagoģiski eksperimentālās darbības, brīvdabas pedagoģijas principi ir ļoti iedarbīga sajūtu attīstīšanas veicināšanas metode, jo brīvdabas nodarbības atrodoties brīvā dabā kā apmācības veids sniedz iespēju bērniem izmantot visas savas maņas, līdz ar to viņiem rodas personīga un nepastarpināta pieredze, satiekot reālo pasauli. Dabā esošo sensoro kairinātāju daudzums ir ļoti liels un to pielietojums jebkuras dabaszinību tēmas apguvē ir ļoti plašs un atkarīgs no skolotāja radošuma un profesionālajām iemaņām brīvdabas pedagoģijas principu izmantošanā. Darbs sastāv no 50 lapaspusēm, 17 tabulām, 3 attēliem un 2 pielikumiem.To explore theoretically and practically sensory development options for 2-3 years old children on Natural science classes author of this qualification work Inta Ansonska analyzed the views of several researchers about 2-3 years old children's development regularities and the basic principles of nature pedagogy, as well as did pedagogical pilot work, creating and leading for kindergarden`s "Pasacina " younger age group of children a a cycle of natural sciences classes called "Autumn", which has been developed based on natural pedagogy principles. The author of this work concludes that, based on the available theoretical material and through practical pedagogical experimental activities, the principles of natural pedagogy are very effective method of promoting the development of senses, since outdoor Natural science activities as a type of training allow children to use all their senses, hence they have a personal and immediate experience of meeting the real world. The number of sensory irritants in nature is very high and their application in practically any natural science subject is very broad and depends on the teacher's creativity and professional skills in using the principles of natural pedagogy. Teorētiskajā daļā tika analizētas dažādu autoru atziņas par vārdu krājuma attīstību pirmsskolas vidējā vecumā, rotaļu raksturojumu un nozīmi 3 gadu vecu bērnu vārdu krājuma paplašināšanā. Empīriskajā daļā tika veikts pētījums, izstrādāti vērtēšanas kritēriji, pēc kuriem novērtēts pētāmās bāzes vārdu krājums pirms pētījuma, veikta izmēģinājumdarbība izmantojot atlasītās rotaļas, atkārtoti novērtēta pētāmā bāze, salīdzināti iegūtie rezultāti. The work consists of two parts - theoretical and empirical research. In the theoretical part, the findings of various authors were analyzed on the development of vocabulary in preschool-middle age, the characteristics and importance of games in expanding the vocabulary of 3-year-old children. In the empirical part, a study was conducted, evaluation criteria were developed, according to which the vocabulary of the researched base was evaluated before the research, a trial operation was carried out using the selected toys, the researched base was re-evaluated, the obtained results were compared. After the pedagogic trial, the proposed research question was confirmed – What kinds of toys contribute to expanding the vocabulary of 3-year-old children? "-if the teacher offers games according to the children's age and children's interests, and integrates them during the day, the children's vocabulary will expand.
