Performance Evaluation of Some Potential Bionematicides on Leaf and Fruit Production of Capsicum annuum
Plant-derived pesticides has become a mainstay in the control of pest, due to the fact that synthetic pesticides induce environmental degradation. The effective control of plant nematode has been found to improve the yield and economic value of farm produce. Certain growth parameters are visible in diseased plant, these in turn affects the final output of the produce. The performance evaluation of some bionematicides were investigated with five plants (Azadirachta indica, Vernonia amygdalina, Manihot esculenta, Carica papaya. and Citrus sinensis) using Capsicum plant in a two trial sessions, within exposure periods of 30, 60 and 90-days, at different concentrations (20, 30 and 40g). The growth parameters monitored were numbers of leave and fruit produced. Results showed that, compared to the control, all treatments similarly demonstrated significant improvement in leaf and fruit production, with much more improvement in the second trial (p < 0.05). Thus the applied treatment significantly (p < 0.05), induced varying degrees of nematotoxicity resulting to improved leaf and fruit production of Capsicum annum (Pepper plant. Based on the findings of this research, we therefore conclude that all treatments (i.e. tested plant), demonstrated significant improvements in the development of Capsicum plant and as such can be recommended as Bionematicide
Register variation in William Godwin: a multidimensional analysis
Register variation studies have varied the way of producing the analysis in recent years
showing different perspectives on how to consider a piece of writing or oral production. Biber

(MD) linguistic analysis.
This methodological approach identifies the agreeing and

analysis
the MD approach
has been used to
illustrate th

the registers of both texts
, one being far more informal than

Upon examination of these sources, it becomes o

of both is different showing a great amount of variation in their language and structure as it
was expected by the author.
The purpose of this paper resides on tracing

analysing a selection of linguistic

selected using two books from t

Honour and recognition in the German novel of banditry ca 1800
This article performs a reading informed by Honneth’s theory of recognition of the two best-known German novels of banditry of the 1790s, Johann Heinrich Zschokke’s Abaellino der große Bandit (1794) and Christian August Vulpius’ Rinaldo Rinaldini (1799) in an effort to understand how popular literature participates in and reflects upon the discourse on honour and recognition around 1800. Its status as popular genre makes the novel of banditry (Räuberroman) a potentially interesting source on shifts in the theory and practice of honour as experienced by ordinary Europeans at the turn of the 19th century. The genre was found to relate to the honour discourse not directly, but in the manner of a heterotopia, simultaneously located outside that discourse and referentially connected to it. Taken in isolation, the novel of banditry is not an informative source on the changing role of honour and new patterns of intersubjective recognition in late 18th century Europe. Seen as part of a particular constellation of textual production and reception, however, the genre sheds light on the aporias of honour experienced by those socially marginal ‘new readers’ intent on exploiting literature in the struggle for enhanced social recognition.Peer reviewe
Bionematicidal Potentials of Azadirachta indica (A. juss), Vernonia amygdalina (DEL), Manihot esculenta, Carica papaya. L. and Citrus sinensis on Meloidogyne incognita of Capsicum annuum, Var. Bell
Plant parasitic nematodes especially Meloidogyne species are linked to global reduction or loss in the yield of agricultural produce. If plant diseases are left unchecked, it could lead to food shortage. Synthetic nematicide could induce toxicity, environmental degradation and are expensive. Root-knot nematodes (RKN) are devastating as it affects many economically important agricultural crops globally. The bionematicidal potential of pepper plant nematode was investigated with five plants (Azadirachta indica, Vernonia amygdalina, Manihot esculenta, Carica papaya. and Citrus sinensis) in a two-phased trial, at concentrations of 20, 30 and 40g within exposure periods of 30, 60 and 90-days. Generally, Compared to the control, all bionematicides similarly showed significant nematotoxocity for both trials with significant difference (p < 0.05). Thus the degrees of nematotoxicity is reported as: A. indica > V. amygdalina > C. sinensis > C. papaya > M. esculentus. Based on the findings of this research, we therefore conclude that the tested plant demonstrated significant levels of nematotoxicity and can be so regarded as Bionematicides
P-nitrophenol udp-glucuronyltransferase gene expression in 3-methylcholanthrene and butylated hydroxyanisole induced rat liver, 1988
One of the fundamental problems in eukaryotic gene expression is to understand the effects of multiple induction. Here, the effect of single and combined treatment of rats with 3-MC and BHA on p-nitropheno 1 UDPGT gene expression was investigated. Antibody against the purified 3-MC form of UDPGT (Mr 57K) cross-reacted and differentially absorbed out activity from all the other treatments. Monospecific antisera preferentially recognized the 3-MC and BHA + 3-MC forms of the enzyme. Tryptic digest analysis showed conserved and variable amino acid residues between BHA and 3-MC UDPGT. Moreover, additive accumulation of polysomes, total RNA and specific poly(A+) RNA was demonstrated. Lambda gtll rat liver cDNA library was immunoscreened. Based on these data, we contend that BHA and 3-MC induce different forms of UDPGT and as such modulate gene expression by activating two or more separate genes
Theology in suspense : how the detective fiction of P.D. James provokes theological thought
Electronic redacted version excludes material for which permission has not been granted by the rights holderThe following dissertation argues that the detective fiction of P.D. James
provokes her readers to think theologically. I present evidence from the body of
James’s work, including her detective fiction that features the Detective Adam
Dalgliesh, as well as her other novels, autobiography, and non-fiction work. I also
present a brief history of detective fiction. This history provides the reader with a
better understanding of how P.D James is influenced by the detective genre as well as
how she stands apart from the genre’s traditions.
This dissertation relies on an interview that I conducted with P.D. James in
November, 2008. During the interview, I asked James how Christianity has
influenced her detective fiction and her responses greatly contribute to this
dissertation. However, James’s novels should be interpreted and explored in the
manner that they are received by the reader. How the reader receives and responds to
the novels, not only how James writes the novels, is what causes her stories to
provoke theological thinking.
By examining Christian symbolism that is present in setting, character, the
Detective Adam Dalgliesh, and plot, this dissertation seeks to assert that James
contributes to a theological conversation through her popular detective fiction

The effect of maternal thymus on the behavior of T cells in mice progeny after exposure to Benzo(a)pyrene during pregnancy, 1996
To understand how maternal thymus influence benzo(a)pyrene [B(a)P] immunomodulation of progeny immunity, adult females were thymectomized (TX), mated and injected with B(a)P at mid pregnancy. The progeny from TX and NTX females were evaluated for the effect of thymectomy and B(a)P exposure on biological factors: cell mediated immunity (CMI), humoral immunity (HI), and expression of T-cells and subsets. Maternal thymectomy with B(a)P exposure reduced litter size by 40%. Serological sensitivity of thymus cells with monoclonal antibody (Mab) anti-CD 1 plus complement occurred at a higher dilution of Mab in progeny from thymectomized mothers exposed to B(a)P. Progeny from thymectomized mothers exposed to B(a)P showed enhanced thymic CMI but suppressed splenic CMI and HI. No significant difference was observed in the percentage of T-cell subsets among treatments. Benzo(a)pyrene treatment resulted in inhibition of lnterleukin-2 but not of interleukin-2 production. These results indicate that the thymus plays an important role in modulating the effect of B(a)P on progeny CMI. Whereas, for HI the role is not as distinctive
FUNDAMENTALS OF LEADERSHIP, ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Fundamentals of Leadership, environment, and sustainable development is the secondedition of the book, Fundamentals of Leadership which was published in the year2017 by the lead author and it has been in tremendous demand due to itscontributions to society and body of knowledge in exercising adequateleadership traits towards the achievement of set goals. This led to the quest forthis second edition and it has been made robust by incorporating the currentissues in leadership and at the same time, juxtaposing it with its impact on theenvironment and sustainable development. This book has been carefully and comprehensively arranged into three (3)Sections (A, B, and C) making up a total of fourteen chapters. Section A tagged,Foundation of Leadership is made up of nine chapters that substantially discussleadership and its related concepts. Section B is tagged Art and Science ofEnvironment & Sustainability development concepts, which brings into exposition, the concepts of environment and is made up of four chapters (Chapters ten tothirteen). While, the last section C consists solely of one chapter (Chapterfourteen) where sustainable development (Concept of environment, businessenvironment, and environmental accounting) and the nexus between the threetargeted concepts (Leadership, Environment, and Sustainable development)was deeply discussed. This book, therefore, is a useful tool for readers, students, professionals, business owners, management, and lecturers across the fields of leadership, management, and governance. To buy the complete hard copy or download a full copy of this book for offline reading on a laptop, mobile phone or desktop computer.Contact:Professor Godwin Emmanuel [email protected]; [email protected]+234-8033737184, +234-8055863944</p
