    The author discusses the paradoxical place of ethnographic fieldwork and of the location of anthropological knowledge in a discipline self-defined as universal and devoted to study the social-cultural diversity of Humanity.     Over the past few years, beekeeping has been a media focal point. Nevertheless There is a paucity of knowledge surrounding the prehistory of beekeeping outside of the information from the east and south Mediterranean regions. The author is an archaeologist and a beekeeper and commenced this project in 2016, having given presentations and submitted articles to a German beekeeping magazine (Guber 2016) and conducting research of “archaeobeekeeping” within archaeological contexts
