RISK DIAGNOSIS AND EVALUATION VS. THE ALTERNATIVE STRATEGIES OF FINANCING THE COMPLEX RESOURCES-ECONOMY-ENVIRONMENT NETWORK WORKING IN AN INTEGRATIVE-REGENERATIVE INDUSTRIAL ECONOMY
The problem of financing the complex resources-economy-environment network working in an integrative-regenerative industrial economy is a derivation of the fact either the above-mentioned network intents to minimize the costs of the aftermath of pollution, or to capitalize on new and ‘green’ technologies, it is clear from the start a pollutant, or, to put it into perspective, the resources-economy-environment network will inevitably face (extremely) large costs; once it is assumed such companies must ‘clean’ the environment which they polluted after their (economic) activities are done, they must bear, in any event, important costs, whose quantification cannot be sorted out without the use of a mathematical apparatus, analyzing both economics and human society; this apparatus cannot reject the qualities of NPV (Net Present Value), IRR (Internal Rate of Return) and, last but not least, ROE (Return on Equity) and MSC (Marginal Social Cost) indexes.company, network, integrative, pollution, interest rate, risk
Facade lighting concept
Abstract:The opportunities are in place of implementing media into architecture, and therefore lighting designers needs to understand and use the design qualities of light, but also add to that an understanding on data collected from the environment and the possibilities of combining both, and to incorporate information as a new layer on top of aesthetic and functional qualities into the lighting design. So in this paper I will investigate the opportunities that lies within this topic, and hopefully use it to be a better designer that designs with function on top of aesthetics. In this master thesis I want to explore the possibilities to add another layer to the architecture of the Smedstad Recycling station by the use of a light controlled by data, which in turn should reflect on its environmental function to the public and contribute to environmental awareness.Abstract:The opportunities are in place of implementing media into architecture, and therefore lighting designers needs to understand and use the design qualities of light, but also add to that an understanding on data collected from the environment and the possibilities of combining both, and to incorporate information as a new layer on top of aesthetic and functional qualities into the lighting design. So in this paper I will investigate the opportunities that lies within this topic, and hopefully use it to be a better designer that designs with function on top of aesthetics. In this master thesis I want to explore the possibilities to add another layer to the architecture of the Smedstad Recycling station by the use of a light controlled by data, which in turn should reflect on its environmental function to the public and contribute to environmental awareness
Lighting Design, Public Space and Existential Sincerity
Juhani Pallasma asserts that the architecture of our contemporary society favours vision to the detriment of the other senses, creating a sense of detachment, and that “buildings have turned into image products detached from existential depth and sincerity.” How does this detachment influence how people operate in public space? Can lighting design begin to repair this detachment in favour of a built environment that encourages recognition and identification with public space? Through conducting research in different areas of urban planning, sociology and reference to design projects and the changing face of the modern city, this paper seeks to study the intricacies of people in public spaces and determine how lighting design can contribute to enhancing how we experience it. Research is paired with a case study of a public space in Brooklyn, New York and a design is proposed that has been informed by a theoretical background and observations of the space.<br/
Real-time, anthropomorphic 3-D scanning and voxel display system using consumer depth cameras as an interactive means of individual artistic expression through light
The research presented in this paper revolves around the development of an interactive light installation called NEO-David. The focus is on the development of kinetic light within the boundaries of real-time generated anthropomorphic form. The case study seeks to address the issues related to democratic aspects of art and participatory artistic development. The paper presents the setup of such a system and explores different technical development challenges of the design
(Cyber) Security Challenges in Critical Infrastructures, focusing on the Aerospace Industry
This presentation is focused on the cyber security challenges that aviation stakeholders might face. The presentation is divided into two parts. Firstly, Part A introduces the ideas of Critical Infrastructures, Safety-Critical Systems and their associated general challenges with respect to safety and security. Part B is focused on Aviation stakeholders and what cyber security challenges they might face within their systems architectures and technologies utilized
Introduction to data encryption with RSA
The presentation aims to show how data encryption within the RSA cryptosystem works and what vulnerabilities may appear in case of misconfigurations. The document is revealing how at a high-level the key generation and data transmission works, but also, how mathematically this process is securing the communications and the data in transit. Adjacent with this subject, the history of the RSA as well as its purpose in use were included to enhance the knowledge-sharing
The Right to Information - Main Element of Freedom of Expression. European and Romanian Standards
The author analyses the right to information in the light of the European Convention for defence of the human rights and the main liberties, of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and Romanian right. After stating that this right is one of the two main elements of the right to expression freedom, next to the right of opinion freedom, the author shows, on one side, that the freedom to information supposes responsibility and, on the other side, this should be respected by public authorities, as well as by any natural or juridical person.the right to information, expression freedom, opinion freedom, European Court of Human Rights.
NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF A VISCOUS TRANSMISSION
A viscous coupling is a simple device that transmits torque by shearing an oil film between one or more pairs of discs that are moving in relation to one another. Due to their many advantages, viscous couplings are studied in many applications such as fan transmissions in vehicles, pumps, winches, belt conveyors, wind turbines, tunnel boring machines. Using a CFD Software, this study examined how grooves affected the performance of a viscous coupling. The main objective of the reported work is to study the flow of the fluid film, the total temperature and the torque of a viscous coupling that is operating in different conditions
Properties of Cu-xFe3O4 Nanocomposites for Electrical Application
Copper matrix nanocomposites reinforced with magnetite nanoparticles were developed using powder metallurgy. Various processing parameters were taken into consideration, such as magnetite content, compaction pressure, sintering time and temperature. The nanopowder blends were compacted using various uniaxial pressures and sintered at 650 and 800 °C in order to study the influence of processing parameters on morphology, structure, thermal, magnetic and mechanical properties. The structure and morphology of the nanocomposites analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), bright field transmission electron microscopy (TEMBF) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that sintered composites retained the nanoscale characteristics of the initial Fe3O4 and Cu nanopowders. These nanocomposites have good cold-rolling deformability and Vickers micro-hardness. The Cu-xFe3O4 nanocomposites have thermal and magnetic properties that make them suitable for electronical applications
