Observation of cooper pair splitting and andreev bound states in carbon nanotubes
In this thesis, we investigate Cooper pair splitting in double quantum dot devices made from carbon nanotubes. We present transport measurements in which the controlled splitting of Cooper pairs dominates the current through such a device, reaching unprecedented splitting efficiencies of up to 90%.
In another experiment we use Cooper pair splitting (and a related non-local transport processes) as a tool to investigate Andreev bound states. Andreev bound states are a key concept in mesoscopic superconductivity. They can form due to the penetration of Cooper pairs into a quantum dot, leading to a new type of energy level that differs drastically from conventional particle-in-a-box states
Spectral properties of Andreev reflection from quantum turbulence in 3He-B: What do they tell about turbulent fluctuations?
One of the experimental techniques developed to measure quantum turbulence at low temperatures in 3He-B utilizes the Andreev reflection of thermal quasiparticle excitations from quantized vortices and vortex structures. We present the results of theoretical, numerical, and experimental study of Andreev scattering from quantum turbulence in 3He-B. We analyze the spectral properties of the Andreev reflection and compare these with the spectral properties of superfluid turbulence, and discuss the physical mechanisms responsible for the scaling of spectral densities. Finally, we discuss the relation between our findings and related observables in ordinary turbulence
Computing Conformal Maps onto Canonical Slit Domains
We extend the results of (Andreev, Daniel, McNicholl preprint) by computing conformal maps onto the canonical slit domains in (Nehari 1975). Along the way, we demonstrate the computability of solutions to Neuman problems

Negative magnetoresistance in Andreev interferometers
We consider transport in a diffusive cross-shaped Andreev interferometer geometry, both theoretically and experimentally. A strong and unexpected modulation of the conductance with the superconducting phase is found. In particular, a reversed resistance vs phase difference is predicted, where the resistance is decreased by a phase gradient. A comparison of our quasiclassical calculation with experimental data shows quantitative agreement if we account for diamagnetic screening
