These are replication files for the main text and online appendix for the article "Subject Performance in Social Science Experiments Using Crowdsources Online Samples" by David J. Andersen and Richard R. Lau, as published in the Journal of Experimental Political Science. Study 1 was run in the dynamic process tracing environment and recruited approximately 400 subjects from Amazon's Mechanical Turk to participate in a simulated primary and general election for a number of political offices. Study 2 was a survey experiment that recruited approximately 1,000 subjects from Mechanical Turk and surveyed them about their feelings of state and national-level patriotism

The effects of concurrent elections on voter learning and behavior in the United States. This contains two files. The analysis of turnout data is built from the US Elections Project using state-level turnout data from 1982-2000. Then I use ANES cumulative file data from 1982-2000 to analyze how people react to concurrent elections.
Figure 1 is analyzed in SPSS while the rest of the figures and tables are generated in Stata

This study examined how subjects react to a treatment under different information conditions. We recruited subjects from Amazon’s Mechanical Turk to follow a link (above) to a study where they would learn about two political candidates running for a congressional seat. As subjects entered the experiment they were randomly sorted into one of four conditions, each presenting the candidates in different ways based upon the amount of information available about the candidates and how it was presented. The four options were:
• A short vignette about each candidate, including 5 attributes (Low-information, Static)
• A static information board containing 20 attributes (High-information, Static)
• A dynamic information board with 5 attributes (Low-information, Dynamic)
• A dynamic information board with 20 attributes (High-information, Dynamic)
Our treatment was a gender manipulation. In each condition, we determined which political party each subject preferred (Democrat or Republican) and then randomly assigned each subject to see their In-Party candidate appear as either a man or woman. The Out-Party candidate was always a man
