Paepalanthus strictus Koern.
Paepalanthus strictus Koern. in Martius & Eichler, Fl. Bras. 3(1): 319 (1863) ≡ Dupatya stricta (Koern.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 746 (1891). Type: BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: “Crescenti in prov. Minarum”, s.d., Gardner 5258 (lectotype, here designated: B!, duplicates: G!, P!). Koernicke (1963) described Paepalanthus strictus based on two collections. The specimen Gardner 5258 in B is more complete and contains annotations by the author, thus is here designated as the lectotype.Published as part of Trovó, Marcelo & Sano, Paulo Takeo, 2010, Taxonomic survey of Paepalanthus section Diphyomene (Eriocaulaceae), pp. 49-55 in Phytotaxa 14 on page 54, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.14.1.4, http://zenodo.org/record/477875
Periprosthetic acetabular bone loss using a constrained acetabular component
This is the author-created version of Springer, Ito, Hiroshi ; Matsuno, Takeo,Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 124(2), 2004, 137-139. The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com.
authorWe describe two patients with a constrained acetabular component who required treatment for recurrent dislocation showing postoperative periprosthetic acetabular bone loss. These hips required revision surgery and demonstrated considerable bone loss caused by the migrated acetabular component. Impingement may have occurred with increased stress at the bone-prosthesis interface, and the sharp ends of screws with a metal shell may have gradually plowed up the acetabular bone. These failures illustrate the potential risk of using a constrained acetabular component
Bank Monitoring and Investment: Evidence from the Changing Structure of Japanese Corporate Banking Relationships
During this decade the structure of corporate finance in Japan has changed dramatically. Japanese firms that once used bank debt as their prime source of financing now rely more heavily on the public capital markets. This trend was facilitated by the substantial deregulation of the Japanese capital markets. In an earlier paper (Moshi, Kashyap, and Scharfstein 1988). we demonstrated that investment by firms with close bank relationships appears to be less liquidity constrained than investment by firms without close bank ties. We interpreted this finding as evidence that bank ties tend to mitigate information problems in the capital market. This paper tracks the investment behavior of firms that have recently weakened their bank ties in favor of greater reliance on the bond market. The results suggest that these firms are now more liquidity constrained. The paper concludes with a discussion of why firms would loosen their bank ties in light of these liquidity costs.

Do different types of VR influence pedestrian route choice behaviour? A comparison study of Desktop VR and HMD VR
Virtual Reality (VR) is a valuable tool for studying pedestrian behaviour in complex and realistic scenarios. However, it has remained unknown how different VR technology would influence pedestrian behaviour. This paper presents VR experiments that were conducted with 70 participants using a desktop VR or a HMD VR to perform four different wayfinding tasks in a multi-story building. Quantitative analysis of pedestrian behaviour data and user experience data were performed in order to investigate the impact of the technological differences between the two VR techniques. It was found that participants had better wayfinding task performance in the desktop group. However, the route and exit choice and user experience were overall similar between the two groups. The findings suggest that one could adopt more ‘simple’ VR technologies for studies featuring ‘simple’ wayfinding tasks.Accepted Author ManuscriptTransport and Plannin

Wrestling with Japanese Tribalism Emerging Collaborative Opportunities For India and Japan
Japanese firms, with their strong technology base and high domestic factor costs, have the potential of teaming with India, with its more basic infrastructure and eight times the population. Japan's poorly-performing excess capital could fuel India's strongly-developing middle class and robust entrepreneurialism. Especially promising are collaborative information technology projects. What stands in the way of a greatly expanded relationship? Much of the blockage stems from Japan's insularism, an impetus here labeled tribalism. A hopeful dimension is that this tribalism can be clearly defined as archaic, recognized as detrimental, and then toned-down. Further points for development include an active campaign to encourage diversity in Japan, teaming up to provide alternatives to investment in neighboring China, and agitating for representation on the UN Security Council. India can help initiate all these processes, and can in turn benefit from a Japan reaching out for regional economic partnerships.homogeneity; tribalism; UN Security Council; partnership; immigration; trade; e-Japan strategy
Simple deformation modelling using GNSS GPS data at Minahasa subduction
North Sulawesi Trench or Minahasa subduction area is a subduction zone between the oceanic crust of Sulawesi Sea and the North Sulawesi Arm located at the triple junction in Eastern Indonesia. This subduction activity causes the North Arm of Sulawesi as an earthquake-prone area. Tectonic activities in the region can be studied through geodetic monitoring using GNSS GPS observations and by physical modelling from the rate of geodetic geometric results. Yearly GNSS GPS campaign have been conducted in the region from 1997 to 2008 and continuously observed by BIG from 2008 to 2016 using permanent GNSS GPS stasion. The coordinates of monitoring stations realized in ITRF-2008 provide residual RMS values of 3.13 mm, 4.15 mm and 7.26 mm for the northern, eastern and vertical components, where this indicates a high degree of accuracy. A simple estimation profile using GNSS GPS data based on the Okada elastic equation for the subduction zone shows a subduction movement ranging from 4 to 5 cm/yr with a locking depth of about 50 km, a dip 300 and ending in the post-seismic phase due to the sequence of earthquakes occurring in Minahasa since January 1, 1996 Mw 7.9 to 16 June 2002 Mw 5.9.Astrodynamics & Space Mission
