Enigmele, miturile şi realităţile testamentului Mariei (Lupu) Radziwiłł / Mysteries, myths and realities regarding the testament of Maria (Lupu) Radziwiłł
The matter of Maria (Lupu) Radziwiłł’s will is one of little-known questions. Usually this issue was considered by historians in the context of property of the Radziwill family, or used by writers in literary fiction that gave rise to many myths. In this article the author examines this question in several ways: 1) The property brought by Maria (Lupu) Radziwiłł, a daughter of Vasile Lupu, as a dowry; 2) Wiano and wedding gifts; 3) Awards of Polish kings for life ownership of real property; 4) The property of her husband. The amount of the dowry of Maria is not exactly known, but according to documentary evidence, it numbered from 600,000 to 2000,000 zlotys: 450 thousand in money and 150 thousand in jewels (gold and silver). Besides, she received six starostwos (territorial units) for life tenure
Historia życia osobistego Marii (Lupu) Radziwiłł ukazana w obrazach epoki
In this study, the author presents some of the fragments of the private life of Princess Maria (Lupu) Radziwiłł on the basis of illustrative material. Of particular interest in this respect are various images of Maria (Lupu) Radziwiłł on frescos, engravings, and paintings of the 17th–18th centuries, which are preserved in the museums and churches of Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Romania, and Russia. For the first time in historical literature, the author attempted to chronologically follow the history of portraits and images of Maria. The use of the illustrative aspect in historical research methodology allows the author to combine the letter and the image, raising the value of material documents – narrative sources and artworks – to create a deep and multifaceted portrait of the era in general and the image of daily private life, spirituality and the morals of the era.W artykule zostały przybliżone niektóre fragmenty z życia osobistego księżniczki Marii (Lupu) Radziwiłł. Zastosowanie aspektu ilustracyjnego w metodologii badań historycznych pozwala autorowi połączyć słowo i obraz, podnosząc wartość dokumentów rzeczowych – źródeł narracyjnych i dzieł sztuki – w celu stworzenia głębokiego i wielopłaszczyznowego obrazu epoki a także odwzorowania życia codziennego, kwestii duchowości i moralności tamtego okresu

A Norwegian grey zone: Knut Rød, Victor Lind and 'The crucial year, 1942'
This article uses Primo Levi’s concept of “the grey zone” to explore Knut Rød’s involvement in the transfer of 532 Norwegian Jews from Oslo to Auschwitz in 1942. Rød, the police chief in charge of the operation, was subsequently exonerated of any crime on the grounds that he had simultaneously used his position to help members of Milorg – the Norwegian Resistance. The legal and moral basis of this verdict has been questioned by the artist Victor Lind in a series of artworks, including his “countermonument” The Perpetrator (2005)

Author Obliged to Submit Paper before 4 July: Policies in an Enterprise Specification
Abstract Specifying policies doesn't occur in splendid isolation but as part of refining an enterprise specification. The roles, the tasks, and the business processes of an ODP community provide the basic alphabet over which we write our policies. We illustrate this through exploring a conference programme committee case study. We discuss how we might formulate policies and show how policies are refined alongside the refinement of the overall system specification, developing notions of sufficiency and necessity. Policy delegation is also discussed and we categorise different forms of delegating an obligation
The destiny of woman in the history of Moldavia. Myths and realities about Catherine the Circassian – the second wife of the hospodar Vasile Lupu
In this study the author came to some specific conclusions. In particular, it is safe to say that the marriage between Vasile Lupu and Catherine was far from accidental. As the sources of the era attest, all the details have been well thought out. Almost immediately after the death of his wife, Vasile Lupu sends the ambassadorial cortege to get his second wife, hence not respecting even the basic mourning traditions. One may also assume that perhaps in that situation government and political interests were high above his emotions. Vasile Lupu was an ambitious, far-sighted politician and a brilliant strategist. His plan was to expand the Moldovan boarders. He prepared his only son Ioan as future ruler of Wallachia. However, his plans failed after the son's death, and he was left without an heir. Vasile Lupu was well aware that he had to urgently resolve the dynastic crisis. He needed a young, strong and healthy wife, able to give birth to his heirs. The choice fell on Catherine the Circassian. How and under which circumstances this choice has been made remains an unsolved mystery. Unfortunately, we do not have any sources that could provide a reliable answer to this question. At the same time, we do not deny the well-known and hackneyed opinion in the historical literature that this marriage took place in a certain political context, for the Moldavian-Tatar mutual support in the political, military and economic spheres
Anca Elisabeta Tatay and Cornel Tatai-Baltă, Gravorul Mihail Strilbițchi (a doua jumătate a secolului al XVIII-lea) [Mihail Strilbițchi, The Engraver (Second Half of the Eighteenth Century)], Editura Mega, 2023, 345 p.
Anca Elisabeta Tatay and Cornel Tatai-Baltă are well-known researchers of the art and technique illustration of early Romanian book (1508–1830) and authors of reference books on the engravers who worked in the printing press of Blaj, Sibiu, Brașov, and Bucharest, and at the Romanian section of the printing house in Buda in the seventeenth-nineteenth centuries. Their recent book, published in 2023 by Mega Publishing House in Cluj-Napoca, is the first work in Romanian literature focused solely on Mihail Strilbițchi’s engraving activity. The volume also builds upon the authors’ previous contributions to this topic, which were presented in three articles published between 2021 and 2023. As pointed out by Anca Elisabeta Tatay and Cornel Tatai-Baltă in the introduction, while the works of the most important engravers who illustrated early Romanian books are well known, “the same cannot be said about the graphic works created by Mihail Strilbițchi (…). That is why we considered it necessary to publish a comprehensive study dedicated to the most valuable and prolific engraver in Moldavia in the second half of the eighteenth century” (p. 10)
