Application of Particle Swarm Optimization to Formative E-Assessment in Project Management

    No full text
The current paper describes the application of Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm to the formative e-assessment problem in project management. The proposed approach resolves the issue of personalization, by taking into account, when selecting the item tests in an e-assessment, the following elements: the ability level of the user, the targeted difficulty of the test and the learning objectives, represented by project management concepts which have to be checked. The e-assessment tool in which the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is integrated is also presented. Experimental results and comparison with other algorithms used in item tests selection prove the suitability of the proposed approach to the formative e-assessment domain. The study is presented in the framework of other evolutionary and genetic algorithms applied in e-education.Particle Swarm Optimization, Genetic Algorithms, Evolutionary Algorithms, Formative E-assessment, E-education

An Ontological-based Model for Competences in Sustainable Development Projects: a Case Study for Project’s Commercial Activities

    No full text
The paper presents a project management competencies model, using an ontological approach. The ontology, named PMCatalog, was developed in the framework of the project CONTO, financed by Romanian through the grant 91-037/2007. PMCatalog is consistent with the competence definition and PM competence elements included in the International Competence Baseline, the competency standard of the International Project Management Association. The main PMCatalog’s use cases for commercial activities in sustainable development projects are described. Ontology was developed using the Protégé editor.competence, project management, sustainable development, commercial activities

Effect of SDS Micelles on Actinomycin D – DNA Complexes

    No full text
DNA thermal denaturation was evaluated as a measure of the effect of antitumor drug actinomycin D on the stability of the double helix and also the effect of SDS micelles on actinomycin D – DNA complexes. The results indicated that the melting temperature of DNA was dependent on drug concentration, increasing with actinomycin D concentration. High thermal stabilization (about 10 °C) of the DNA helix after the association with actinomycin D clearly demonstrates the intercalative binding mode. The presence of SDS micelles leads to the release of intercalated actinomcyin D molecules from DNA double helix and their further relocation in surfactant micelles. These results highlighted that the drug release can be controlled in time and by varying the concentration and nature of surfactant

Group Maker Tool for Software Engineering Projects

    No full text
AbstractProject-based learning is widely used in various academic fields. Nevertheless, software engineering projects have a special statute due to their interdisciplinary features. Unlike other academic disciplines, software engineering requires knowledge from diverse engineering areas, but also from system modeling and design, business domain, communication. In order to maximize the learning benefits and to facilitate obtaining successful projects, the teacher has to be actively involved in all the phases of the project life cycle, including team formation. This article presents a new application which implements the collaborative learning paradigm through project-based learning in software engineering. The model automates the process of optimal grouping of students in teams based on a skill inventory created by the teacher. The collected answers related to students’ skills will help the teacher to built the most equilibrate groups in one's class. The grouping is made taking into account various criteria. Once groups are formed, students can collaborate by chatting in the project's forum or by attaching additional files to their project. Preliminary results are provided and discussed in the context of various groupware tools

THE MOTION LAWSSYNTHESIS IN THE POSITIONING MECHANISM MOTOR COUPLES 3R

    No full text
The manipulator mechanism with 3D working space is characterized by the configuration of three motor rotation couple. In this worksheet we consider R ┴ R ║ R configuration on which characteristic point with first rotation couple ax determine one plan which represent movement plan at the last two elements. With the cinematically modulations you can calculate command functions (position, velocity and acceleration in motor couple) from the condition that tracer point make a movement after a law named movement law. Numerical results are obtained with a program and they are put in diagrams

STRUCTURAL - FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE SOIL LEVEL MACHINE

    No full text
The soil leveling machine is of half – carried type and it works, as unit, with the wheeled tractor (or caterpillar tractor). The leveling plane is established by the rear wheels of the tractor and by the wheels of the hind train of the machine. The positive and negative soil dislevelments are given against the leveling plane. In the paper there are established the displacements of the mechanism for the automatic working regime, in which the cutting blade is execution element

Lean manufacturing is today one of the most successful production strategies for improving competitiveness. To achieve success, a healthy production system based on solid concepts and philosophies is also required. Thus, it has been decided to adopt and accelerate the Lean Manufacturing concept on every site. The Kaizen or "Continuous Improvement by Involving All" method is a teamwork methodology used to systematically solve problems and apply improvement solutions
