Erector spinae plane block versus paravertebral block in the management of postoperative pain in cancer patients undergoing thoracic surgery at the Oncosalud Clinic, 2022-2024

The urban landscape in the works of Helena Mara Viramontes and Ana Castillo: a Bakhtinian analysis
This thesis is a Bakhtinian textual analysis of the collection of short stories The Moths and Other Stories and the novel Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes, and the novel Peel My Love Like an Onion by Ana Castillo. The geographical backgrounds of these works are Los Angeles and Chicago, whose urbanization has changed the ways of life of the Latino community. The city becomes a physical and spiritual jail for many Latinos, suffering discrimination from the dominant society and sexist marginalization in their own community. These narratives condemn the hard, difficult existence of Latinos in the urban milieu, contrasting their real and emotional landscape to the idyllic middle-class, white American dream. My aim is to analyze the effect of this urban setting on the Latino characters in the stories and reveal a map of the socio-political Chicano struggle. I utilize the Bakhtinian concept of chronotope, defined as the interrelation of time and space that appears in a literary work reflecting a particular socio-historical context.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 68-72)California State University, Northridge. Atocongo Intermodal Center
This thesis project presents the architectural design of an Intermodal Transport Center located in the district of San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, Peru. The main objective is to establish a strategic modal exchange hub between mass transit and interprovincial transportation, thereby improving connectivity in southern Lima. The proposal is based on a territorial diagnosis that reveals the current system’s saturation, the informality of interprovincial transport, and the lack of coordination between transport modes. The project proposes a modern infrastructure that integrates bus terminals, urban transport stations, public spaces, and service areas, guided by principles of sustainability, universal accessibility, and functional efficiency. The architectural solution is designed to meet user needs and respond to the urban context, aligning with metropolitan development plans and anticipating future city growth.Tesi
Generalization of the Weibull probabilistic compatible model to assess fatigue data into three domains: LCF, HCF and VHCF
In this work, three classes of fatigue models are reviewed according to the fatigue regimes commonly considered in the current components design. Particular attention is devoted to the so-called Class III fatigue models, covering the three fatigue regimes, namely, LCF, HCF and VHCF. The applicability and limitations of the proposed analytical sigmoidal solutions are discussed from the viewpoint of practical design. The compatible Weibull S-N model by Castillo and Canteli is revisited and improved by considering a new reference parameter GP = E·σM ·(dε/dσ)|M as the driving force alternative to the conventional stress range. In this way, the requirement, σM ≤ σu, according to the real experimental conditions, is fulfilled and the parametric limit number of cycles, N0, recovers its meaning. The probabilistic definition of the model on the HCF and VHCF regimes is maintained and extended to the LCF regime. The strain gradients may be calculated from the monotonic or cyclic stress–strain curve of the material although a direct derivation from the hysteresis loop is recommended. Some Class III fatigue models from the literature and another one improved by the authors are applied to the assessment of one experimental campaign under different stress ratios conditions and the results compared accordingly. Finally, the new probabilistic GP-N field is evaluated. The results confirm the practical confluence of the stress- and the strain-based approaches into a single and advantageous unified methodology.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Steel & Composite Structure
