Allen Drury
Pulitzer Prize winning author Allen Drury (second from left) signed autographs and greeted the Rollins College community at Casa Iberia during the 1968 school year. Drury is aided by (from left to right) students Joel Dick, Mark Miller, and Librarian George E. Larsen
Book of the Month: Salmon and His People (7/26/00)
Northwest tribes believe that one of the greatest tragedies of this century is the loss of Chinook salmon runs and traditional fishing sites on the Columbia River. Elders say the circle of life has been broken and are contemplating the consequences of breaking the circle. Nez Perce author Allen Pinkham and biologist Dan Landeen\u27s new book combines traditional environmental knowledge with Western science in a compelling story to save the Salmon and his People
The French Paracelsians: The Chemical Challenge to Medical and Scientific Tradition in Early Modern France
Chaos Reborn: The Loremaster's Guide
The Loremaster's Guide is a companion book to the computer game, Chaos Reborn by Julian Gollop and Snapshot Games. In these pages, you will learn more about the Fractured Realms and the mysterious world of Limbo that lies at the heart of the Vortex. Written and illustrated to provide background and context, the guide is a collection of journals and essays from people who live in this strange alternative reality. It documents their lives, their hopes, their adventures and their dreams. About the Author: Allen Stroud is a Science Fiction and Fantasy writer and academic whose research work involves developing guide material for transmedia projects in both genres. He previously worked on background material for the computer game, Elite: Dangerous by Frontier Deveklopments. Allen is also working on The Death of Gods trilogy, the official fiction of Chaos Reborn
From the help desk: Transfer functions
The question often arises as to whether one can estimate a transfer function model using Stata. While Stata does not currently have a convenience command for doing so, this article will demonstrate that estimating such a model can be accomplished quite easily using Stata's arima command. The classic text for transfer function modeling is Box, Jenkins, and Reinsel (1994); however, a more concise presentation can be found in Brockwell and Davis (1991). From the help desk: Polynomial distributed lag models
Polynomial distributed lag models (PDLs) are finite-order distributed lag models with the impulse-response function constrained to lie on a polynomial of known degree. You can estimate the parameters of a PDL directly via constrained ordinary least squares, or you can derive a reduced form of the model via a linear transformation of the structural model, estimate the reduced-form parameters, and recover estimates of the structural parameters via an inverse linear transformation of the reduced-form parameter estimates. This article demonstrates both methods using Stata. Copyright 2004 by StataCorp LP.polynomial distributed lag, Almon, Lagrangian interpolation polynomials
