The life, works, and sufi thought of sheikh Ali Samarqandi
Şeyh Ali Semerkandî, yaşadığı ve uğradığı bölgelerde ihtiyaç duyulduğu ölçüde ilim ve irşat faaliyetleriyle çevresine rehberlik etmiş seçkin şahsiyetlerden biridir. Kimileri sadece kendi döneminde etkili olurken, bazı âlimler hem çağlarında hem de sonraki kuşaklarda değerli eserleri aracılığıyla yaşamaya devam etmişlerdir. Şeyh Ali Semerkandî de etkisini sadece kendi devriyle sınırlamayıp, gelecekteki nesillere de uzanan bir mürşid-i kâmil olarak öne çıkmıştır. Bu durum, onun kalplerde giderek daha fazla kabul görmesine yol açmıştır. Memleketinden başlayarak kutsal mekânlara uzanan bilgi ve maneviyat yolculuğu da bunda büyük rol oynamıştır. Tasavvufî eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra Anadolu'ya gelerek farklı bölgelerde irşat hizmetlerinde bulunması, sonraki devirlerde Şeyh Ali Semerkandî ile Şeyh Alâeddin Ali es-Semerkandî'nin aynı kişi olup olmadığı ve nereye defnedildiği konusundaki tartışmaları da beraberinde getirmiştir. Aynı şekilde bir kataloglama hatası, onun kaleme aldığı "Bahru'l-Ulûm fî Tefsîri'l-Kur'an" adlı eserle ilgili sahiplik tartışmalarının doğmasına sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışmada, Şeyh Ali Semerkandî'nin aslında Şeyh Alâeddin Ali es-Semerkandî ile özdeş olduğunu, bugün "Çamlıdere" adıyla bilinen ve resmî kayıtlarda "Yabanâbâd" olarak anılan bölgede medfun bulunduğunu ve "Bahru'l-Ulûm fî Tefsîri'l-Kur'an" adlı eserin müellifi olduğunu ortaya koyarak bu konudaki bilgi kirliliğini azaltmayı amaçladık.Sheikh Ali Samarqandi was a prominent figure who disseminated knowledge and spiritual guidance wherever needed. While some scholars remained influential only within the confines of their era, others left a lasting legacy through the works they produced. Sheikh Ali Samarqandi was among those whose intellectual and spiritual influence transcended his time, continuing to inspire successive generations. His profound dedication to pursuing knowledge and spirituality—from his birthplace to sacred lands—was pivotal in establishing his enduring presence in the collective memory of communities. After completing his spiritual training, he travelled to Anatolia, undertaking various guiding missions across different regions.Over time, debates emerged concerning the identity of Sheikh Ali Samarqandi, particularly regarding whether he was the same individual as Sheikh Alâeddin Ali as-Samarqandi and the exact location of his burial. Furthermore, confusion surrounding the authorship of his exegetical work Bahru'l-'Ulûm fî Tafs?r al-Qur'?n arose due to cataloguing inaccuracies. This study seeks to clarify that Sheikh Ali Samarqandi and Sheikh Alâeddin Ali as-Samarqandi are indeed the same person, that his burial place is located in the area historically known as Yabanâbâd (modern-day Çamlıdere), and that Bahru'l-'Ulûm fî Tafs?r al-Qur'?n is genuinely his work. Preface
Coating technology is an emerging field that is constantly evolving due to the development in advanced materials, in particular due to recent achievements in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Smart coatings can respond to environmental factors, for example, external and internal stress state, gradients in temperature, pH, biomarkers, and radiation. Modern coatings open new avenues of applications such as waterproof systems, self-cleaning, and self-healing systems. New coatings are developed for biological and medical applications, with emphasize on antibacterial features. The progress affects also coating manufacturing and related technologies. In addition to modern coating fabrication technologies, new methods for their analysis and characterization of materials are introduced which increase our abilities to better study their micro and nanostructure including different properties at various length and time scales. It is worth noting here that wear/corrosion resistance and therefore the coating performance is a property, not an intrinsic of materials, but of systems and the responses to the extrinsic factors should be understood in detail.
Demands for coatings increase continuously as new applications require stringent constraints (e.g., in microelectronics industry). Smart phones and other electronic devices also require self-shielding and self-healing coatings. Alongside there are investments in R&D that will lead to market growth in the near future. There are several types of coatings currently on the market, including wear/corrosion resistant coatings, self-cleaning coatings, and biomedical coatings. Industries dedicated to personal health, aerospace, food packaging, home appliances, automotive, and information technology will have the largest impact onto the market.
The global paints and coatings market are anticipated to reach around $286 billion by 2026. It is expected to grow significantly over the forecast period from 2020 onward due to numerous advancements that are driven by a strong rebound in worldwide building, construction, and manufacturing primarily in Western Europe, North America, and Japan. In addition, new coating methods are introduced everyday with higher efficiencies and clean processes. The overall importance and progress of coatings make it necessary to provide a reference book for coating technologies. Hence we have prepared this collection with the input of well-known researchers both from academic and industrial centers. We like to appreciate all of the contributions to this collection and thank them for their high-quality manuscripts. We wish that the publication will benefit all researchers and may act as a source of inspiration to this sparkling and sprightly field of research
Factors influencing development of management strategies for the Abou Ali River in Lebanon. I: Spatial variation and land use
Surface water bodies are progressively subject to increasing stress as a result of environmentally degrading processes primarily related to anthropogenic activities. This study assesses and examines the impact of land use and anthropogenic activities on the spatial variation in water quality of the Abou Ali River in North Lebanon. It is the first detailed study of its kind in Lebanon and adds to the existing Knowledge by shedding light on a relatively small Mediterranean river in a developing country where there is a paucity of such studies. The assessment was conducted at the end of the dry season in 2002 and 2003 and the end of the wet season in 2003 and 2004. The study has demonstrated the importance of anthropogenic influences on the water quality of the Abou Ali River Basin, as concentrations of most contaminants were higher at locations with greatest human activity. The most adversely affected area was the section of the river that flows through an entirely urbanized and highly populated region, the Tripoli conurbation. Upstream rural sites were enriched by contaminants primarily from non-point sources such as agricultural runoff and poultry litter whereas contaminant concentrations at the urban sites were enriched by a combination of sewage discharge and flow of contaminants from upstream. If the Abou Ali River is to be utilized as a managed water resource and its water quality sustained, point source discharges will require treatment and land use management must be planned to minimize the impact of diffuse source pollution on the river. A high priority should be given to the implementation and enforcement of the precautionary and polluter pays principles. Moreover, an effective legal, economic and institutional framework is required to encourage investment in waste reduction and control and to introduce environmentally sound practices

A violent origin : a Girardian analysis of the scapegoating of Ali ibn Abu Talib in Shi'ite tradition
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 182-192).This dissertation applies Rene Girard's theory of the scapegoat mechanism to prove that Ali ibn Abu Talib appears in Shi'ite traditions as an innocent victim. The aim is to investigate Girard's substantial body of work to determine whether Ali was a scapegoat and a victim of a conspiracy within his community. Girard's theory is founded in mimetic desire, where he incorporated external and internal mediation to form an analysis of mimetic rivalry. Using various texts to develop his theory and support his concepts, he investigated Aristotle, Plato, Stendhal, Proust, Shakespeare and Freud. He developed his theory from the interaction between friends to the incorporation of an object of desire to form the 'French triangle'. He moved from investigating this 'triangle' in personal relationships to conspiracies and subsequently to communities with regard to primitive religions. It was in the discovery of the sacred victim that Girard recognized the purpose of myth, that it concealed the role of the persecutors and that it silenced the victim. Girard then transferred his deductions to analyzing the Bible, where he identified ways in which the text gave the victim a voice. He maintains that only Jesus supported a non-violent position and embraced positive mimetic desire in the form of imitating the love of God. In reviewing Ali's life, one discovers that it reveals Girard's concepts of mimetic rivalry, conspiracy and collective violence. There is the historical Ali and the divine Imam Ali. These two positions can be reconciled by following a constitutive reductionist method for the purpose of analysis in applying the scapegoat mechanism theory. Reductionism is useful and necessary for this study. While the historical Ali reveals a victim, the divine Ali takes responsibility for his own death. The historical and the divine reveal two perspectives in relating Ali's story, one from the victim's perspective and the other from the perspective of the persecutors. However, with respect to the scapegoat mechanism, Shi'ite traditions about Ali, inclusive of historical, popular, or ghulat traditions, show that Jesus was not the only victim to reveal his innocence and embrace non-violence for positive mimesis. Rather, Ali goes further in rejecting materialism to avoid envy, encouraging his community to witness his poverty. Without the distraction of material things, Ali could demonstrate God's love. While Girard claimed that Christianity, particularly the gospels, revealed the victim's innocence in Jesus Christ, Ali brings forth a similar message of imitating the love of God. Like Jesus, he revealed that God was a loving and forgiving God; he was not an angry God that demanded sacrifice

Two-parameter deformed supersymmetric oscillators with SUq1/q2 (n vertical bar m)-covariance
A two-parameter deformed superoscillator system with SUq1/q2 (n/m)-covariance is presented and used to construct a two-parameter deformed N = 2 SUSY algebra. The Fock space representation of the algebra is discussed and the deformed Hamiltonian for such generalized superoscillators is obtained. Finally, some physical applications of the two parameter deformed superoscillators algebra with the quantum supergroup SUq1/q2 (n/m)-symmetry are also discussed in detail. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. Soil Nutrient Availability, Plant Nutrient Uptake, and Wild Blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium Ait.) Yield in Response to N-Viro Biosolids and Irrigation Applications
We compared the impact of surface broadcasted N-Viro biosolids and inorganic fertilizer (16.5% Ammonium sulphate, 34.5% Diammonium phosphate, 4.5% Potash, and 44.5% s and/or clay filler) applications on soil properties and nutrients, leaf nutrient concentration, and the fruit yield of lowbush blueberry under irrigated and nonirrigated conditions during 2008-2009 at Debert, NS, Canada. Application rates of N-Viro biosolids were more than double of inorganic fertilizer applied at a recommended N rate of 32 kg ha−1. The experimental treatments NI: N-Viro with irrigation, FI: inorganic fertilizer with irrigation, N: N-Viro without irrigation, and F: inorganic fertilizer without irrigation (control) were replicated four times under a randomized complete block design. The NI treatment had the highest OM (6.68%) followed by FI (6.32%), N (6.18%), and F (4.43%) treatments during the year 2008. Similar trends were observed during 2009 with the highest soil OM values (5.50%) for NI treatment. Supplemental irrigation resulted in a 21% increase in the ripe fruit yield. Nonsignificant effect of fertilizer treatments on most of the nutrient concentrations in soil and plant leaves, and on ripe fruits yield reflects that the performance of N-Viro was comparable with that of the inorganic fertilizer used in this study
A Multi-Language Comparison of Influences on Author Verification using Character N-Grams
We create a new multi-language corpus for author verification based on Wikipedia talkpages, and evaluate the influence that differences in topic and time have on character n-gram author profiles.
