Articolo Nove. Esperienze di medicina del lavoro a Nordest
La sezione monografica di questo fascicolo di «Venetica» nasce dal seminario Medicina del lavoro e movimento operaio. Esperienze a Nordest tra anni Settanta e Ottanta, organizzato a Ca’ Foscari il 19 aprile 2013 da Matteo Ermacora e Gilda Zazzara, docenti dei corsi di storia del lavoro e del movimento operaio rispettivamente per la laurea triennale e magistrale. Quell’anno i due corsi furono entrambi dedicati a esplorare il tema Vite al lavoro. Salute, sicurezza e benessere dentro e fuori la fabbrica. Al seminario intervennero Beppino Colle, Giovanni Della Mora, Luciano Marchiori, Enzo Merler, Guglielmo Pitzalis, Mario Secolo e Gian Giacomo Tessari, portando una testimonianza sulla loro esperienza di medici del lavoro e tra i lavoratori del Nordest. Il fascicolo si sviluppa attorno a quei materiali orali, trascritti e rivisti dagli autori. A questo nucleo di testimonianze sono stati aggiunti altri contributi: le interviste al dottor Paolo Revoltella, al tecnico Angelo Tettamanti, all’ingegnere Franco Rigosi (la cui videointervista era stata in parte proiettata in occasione del seminario) e un articolo di Alfiero Boschiero sulla rivista «La salute», promossa dalla Cgil regionale negli anni Settanta per sostenere l’iniziativa del sindacato in materia di salute e riforme sociali. Al seminario del 2013 era presente tra il pubblico Francesco Carnevale – ancora un medico del lavoro, ma anche uno tra i principali studiosi della storia della salute dei lavoratori – che ha accettato di firmare l’introduzione, collocando le “esperienze a Nordest” nella più ampia rivoluzione culturale in atto in Italia tra anni Sessanta e Settanta. Insieme al diritto allo studio, a quell’istituto contrattuale noto come “le 150 ore” di permesso retribuito, che riaprì le scuole agli operai (e a cui «Venetica» ha dedicato un fascicolo nel 2015), il diritto alla salute fu una conquista feconda di risultati concreti nelle fabbriche, capace di promuovere, sulla base di un’alleanza militante tra lavoratori, sindacalisti ed esperti, una nuova coscienza sociale e civile. Abbiamo intitolato questo numero monografico Articolo Nove, in riferimento all’articolo dello Statuto dei lavoratori che raccolse l’eredità di quella stagione di inchieste e conflitti e che è richiamato nella maggior parte dei contributi qui pubblicati. Assai meno noto dell’articolo 18 sulla “riassunzione coattiva” in caso di licenziamento senza giusta causa, l’articolo 9 era la prova che un decennio di sperimentazioni e lotte condotte da operai e medici si era trasformato in un diritto con forza di legge. Lo riproduciamo ricordando che è tutt’ora in vigore, senza emendamenti: «i lavoratori, mediante loro rappresentanze, hanno diritto di controllare l'applicazione delle norme per la prevenzione degli infortuni e delle malattie professionali e di promuovere la ricerca, l'elaborazione e l'attuazione di tutte le misure idonee a tutelare la loro salute e la loro integrità fisica»

CIRCUITI E SISTEMI DI ENERGY HARVESTING ELETTROMAGNETICO RF, TERMICO E BIOMECCANICO PER SENSORI AUTONOMI E DISPOSITIVI BIOMEDICI INDOSSABILI
In recent years, the development of electronics and information technology can be considered among the protagonists of social growth and technological progress, now essential for everyday life. The growing number of applications that require global connectivity is going hand in hand with the increasing demand for portable devices, such as in the IoT (Internet of Things) environment, for the distributed monitoring of environmental parameters, the use of wearable devices for human well-being and health or for sports and leisure activities. These devices need a portable and long-lasting source of energy, reliable over time to guarantee prolonged self-sufficiency as much as possible. Historically, batteries have always been considered the only, indispensable energy source in applications for mobile devices, embedded systems, and remote systems; the use of batteries is, however, constraining for many factors, first of all, the limited capacity to supply energy over time, with consequent need for maintenance for replacement or recharging. Although great strides have recently been made on the development of ever more efficient batteries, both in terms of materials and process, and new electronic technologies are moving towards reducing consumption, to date the use of batteries is still limiting in terms of energy supply over time, for various portable applications. In this scenario, the activity of this dissertation focuses on the research and development of energy recovery systems from alternative sources, with reduced environmental impact, which can guarantee potentially unlimited autonomy for low-power portable devices, or standalone autonomous sensors, together with eco-sustainability. In particular, the research carried out focuses on the design and implementation of energy harvesting (EH) systems, single-source or multi-source, for the energy support of wearable devices in the biomedical field and for autonomous sensors used in wireless networks, for example for the widespread and distributed monitoring of the environment.
After the introduction to the topic, a chapter dedicated to the review of the literature and the state of the art follows. This step is fundamental, as in any research activity, to identify the various existing techniques as well as the materials used for energy recovery and, moreover, it is fundamental to understand the current problems and limitations that require further analysis and in-depth studies. From this initial review, the main circuit blocks constituting the energy processing chain have been identified and analyzed.
The literature review is followed by the author's contributions to RF electromagnetic, Thermoelectric and biomechanical energy harvesting. In particular, chapter 3 is focused on novel design methods for multi-antenna, multi-band and multi-channel power harvester for autonomous sensors and wearables, as well as practical considerations about matching network and antenna design for RF energy harvesting in the field of biomedical applications. Following, chapter 4 introduces the research works centered on thermoelectric and biomechanical energy harvesting. Specifically, the analysis and design methods of the human body’s heat thermoelectric energy harvesting are investigated ad discussed, as well as the possibility to recover the body motion energy by means of piezoelectric transducers. An example of a multisource energy harvesting system design is also presented and discussed. Finally, chapter 5 summarizes the findings and original contributions of this research. Suggestions for further work in this area are then given
Bertrand Competition Under Excess Capacity
The paper considers a homogeneous product market where, given capacities, boundedly rational firms compete repeatedly in prices aiming to maximiz e each period's expected profits. This is done in a context in which the Bertrand outcome obtains at an equilibrium of the static price game, which in turn is shown to require just a small amount of excess capacity if the one-firm concentration ratio is sufficiently small. A convergence result is established for the n-firm oligopoly case: prices are shown to converge in finite time to marginal cost under a very general condition on the learning process by which beliefs about rivals' prices are formed, a condition that is self-ful filling over the entire adjustment process
Existence of pure strategy equilibrium in Bertrand-Edgeworth games with imperfect divisibility of money
This paper incorporates imperfect divisibility of money in a price game where a given
number of identical firms produce a homogeneous product at constant unit cost up to
capacity. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a pure strategy
equilibrium. Unlike in the continuous action space case, with discrete pricing there may be a
range of symmetric pure strategy equilibria - which we fully characterize - a range which
may or may not include the competitive price. Also, we determine the maximum number of
such equilibria when competitive pricing is itself an equilibrium.

A dynamic entry and price game with capacity indivisibility
Strategic market interaction is here modelled as a two-stage game in which potential entrants
choose capacities and active firms compete in prices. Due to capital indivisibility, the capacity choice is
made from a finite grid and there are substantial economies of scale. In the simplest version of the model
assuming a single production technique, the equilibrium of the game is shown to depend on the market size -
namely, on total demand at a price equal to the minimum average cost - relative to the firm minimum
efficient scale: if the market is sufficiently large, then the competitive price (the minimum of average cost)
emerges at a subgame-perfect equilibrium of the game; if the market is not that large, then the firms
randomize in prices on the equilibrium path of the game. The role of the market size for the competitive
outcome is even more important for the case of two production techniques
Conditional loyalty and its implications for pricing
Bertrand–Edgeworth competition has recently been analyzed under imperfect buyer
mobility, as a game in which, once prices are chosen, a static buyer subgame (BS)
is played where the buyers choose which seller to visit (see, e.g., Burdett et al. in
J Political Econ 109:1060–1085, 2001). Our paper considers a symmetric duopoly
where two buyers play a two-stage BS of imperfect information after price setting.
An “assessment equilibrium” of the BS is shown to exist in which, with prices at the
two frms sufciently close to each other, the buyers keep loyal if previously served.
Conditional loyalty is proved to increase the duopolists’ market power: at the corresponding subgame perfect equilibrium of the entire game, the uniform price is higher
than that corresponding to the equilibrium of the BS in which the buyers are persistently randomizing
Matching buyers and sellers
This note analyzes the repeated interaction among buyers of a homogeneous good, in a
setting of imperfect buyer mobility. The buyers are assumed to play a dynamic game of
imperfect information: at each stage every buyer chooses which seller to visit without
knowing the current and past choices of the other buyers. A norm of conditional loyalty
might prevail, according to which buyers keep loyal if previously served. Under generalized
conditional loyalty, an efficient allocation is certainly reached in a finite number of stages.
There is a clear case for boundedly rational buyers to keep conditionally loyal. And, most
importantly, for the two−seller case we are able to establish adherence to a strategy of
conditional loyalty as an “assessment equilibrium” of the dynamic buyer game
