Digitalizzare, ricostruire e fruire il Castello di Montorio. Un tassello nella definizione della rotta culturale dei castelli scaligeri
Between the mid-13th and late 14th centuries the Scaliger lordship ruled a vast territory in which Verona was
the main center. The Scaliger period is reflected in the extraordinary architecture and military constructions,
castles and palaces that define the territory and are today important tourist sites. To initiate a digital
cultural route to link and promote these architectural evidences, the Tourism Department, the Chamber of
Commerce and the UNESCO Office of the Municipality of Verona, involved the laboratory DAda-LAB of
the University of Pavia. The aim of the project was to design a new educational/informative digital route
on the castles around the region. The present paper illustrates some outcomes of the research conducted on
the Montorio Castle: the goal was testing a strategy of fast acquisition in order to obtain a digital database.
The output of the acquisition phase was define as a reliable base to structure realistic 3D models of the main
historical phases that affected the Castle. In this way, fast survey actions followed by the elaboration of 3D
models by videogrammetry techniques, were also supplemented with the analysis of archival documents,
archaeological reports and historical cartography. From the obtained photogrammetric database, it was then
possible through the philological process to elaborate 3D models of the main hypothetical developments
of the castle. This paper illustrates the strategy adopted in the case study and provides the groundwork for
its replicability on other Scaliger castles, in order to define graphic and communicative methods for the
digital products

FROM ARCHIVES SOURCES TO VIRTUAL 3D RECONSTRUCTION OF MILITARY HERITAGE – THE CASE STUDY OF PORT BATTERY, GDAŃSK
The research presented in the article focuses on the development of methodological protocols - from survey to digital reconstruction - for the enhancement and protection of built heritage. Through the realisation of virtual reality-based digital models, it is possible to narrate the evolution and transformation of those places that constitute our historical memory. The European Project H2020 Prometheus, focused on the documentation of the Gdańsk fortresses Route, allowed applying these strategies to the Port Battery case study, presented in this paper. The coastal battery, built in the 19th century, is a brick ruin located in the restricted port area of Gdańsk, witness to several historical processes of transformation. To be able to represent the evolution of the building through history, the operational method regarded the digital acquisition of the building to obtain a detailed model representing the state of the battery. Then the archive research and the available historical maps allowed not only to make a comparison between the previous stages of construction and the actual situation but also to digitally reconstruct what has been destroyed. In this way, through Virtual Reality via Head Mounted Display it is possible to obtain an immersive, but accurate, experience of the digital reconstruction being able to re-live the history of a place
H-BIM e GIS per l'analisi e la ricostruzione filologica del castello di Almencir in Spagna
The paper explores the potential of Scan-to-BIM procedures, carried out using fast-survey methodologies, for the construction of a representative digital model of historic architecture.
Through its experimentation on a case study, the Castle of Al- monecir in the Valencian Community, the research aims to produce an integrated and parametric information system that allows the relation of the fortress with its cultural and historical context. As a result, it will be possible to start a knowledge process of the monu- ment facilitating its understanding and management, with potential tourist applications inside the Valencian area
Documentare i caratteri dei sistemi fortificati in terra cruda dello Ksar di Tamnougalt in Marocco
[EN] The paper analyses the complex defensive system of the Ksar of Tamnougalt in the Drâa Valley, built using traditional earthen construction techniques. Despite its current state of partial abandonment, the village’s historical and cultural importance is tangible in its material traces, witnesses of the Berber cultural presence, as well as its architectural features. In this context, the research uses fast-survey technologies and digital tools to document and understand the site’s defensive elements. It explores representation techniques that convey the material quality and morphological complexity of defensive systems typical of vernacular architecture while ensuring the metric accuracy of drawings and technical documents. The digital documentation of the site led to the creation of a high-resolution database rich in morphometric data. This allowed the production of two-dimensional drawings and facilitated detailed graphic analyses, providing a deeper understanding of the defensive structures and their architectural components from a typological and technological perspective. It also makes it possible to develop critical syntheses that favour innovation in the descriptive methods of defensive systems built through traditional construction practices. The documentation process digitally preserves the architectural peculiarities and traditional building techniques of this historic site, but also provides a valuable resource for future research and conservation efforts.Pancani, G.;Pettineo, A. Il Disegno delle isole "minori" dell'arcipelago veneziano
The research outlines detection and survey strategies for several islands in theVenice Lagoon. The goal is to build a digital archive that will help preserve their historical memory. Drawings and three-di- mensional models will be used to develop an information system that can document the condition of the islands and provide insight into the development of settlements and architecture in the lagoon. The applied methodology combines various survey techniques to understand the morphometric characteristics of the islands and buildings by using high-definition images and point clouds. These activities are par t of the ERC project VeNiss - Venice’s Nissology: Reframing the Lagoon City as an Archi- pelago and aim to create a knowledge base for developing drawings and 3D models through Scan- To-BIM procedures. This method ensures precise and detailed mapping of the island’s surroundings, aiding in developing heritage management and conservation tools.
Developing a functional documentation system using digital technologies to preserve the memory of a unique and fragile ecosystem involves collecting, analysing, and representing morphometric data. It also requires creating a database capable of supporting the development of a three-dimensional information system
