The role of the accused in English and Islamic criminal justice
This thesis is a comparative study of the role of the accused in the systems of
English and Islamic criminal justice. It seeks to explore the underlying
relationship between the individual and the state through an historical, structural
and contextual analysis of their rules relating to questioning and of confessions.
The analysis of the English system covers the period 1800 to 1984, with
particular reference to developments during the nineteenth century when the
foundations for the modern English state were established. The analysis of the
Islamic system combines traditionally Islamic and modern methods, assessing the
"Islamisation" movement in Malaysia through a religico-structural understanding
of juristic opinion from the four main schools of Sunnite jurisprudence.
The thesis contributes to existing knowledge on a number of levels: first, it
questions and revises the "myth" of "progress" that has dominated observations
of the history of the English criminal justice system; second, it elucidates the
relationship between Islamic law in theory and the law that is applied and
proposed in its name in Muslim states; third, it provides an analytical framework
for drawing comparisons between the underlying values of the systems of English
and Islamic criminal justice.
While acknowledging fundamental differences in terms of outlook and
articulation, the author concludes there are important similarities expressed
through such notions as "suspect" in the English system and "kafir"I"fasiq" in the
Islamic. These act as intermediate constitutional categories to whom the state
owe less protection. But the author notes also that these similarities are not
observed necessarily in the "law" which is implemented or proposed in Muslim
states; exact correspondence depends upon the over-arching political structure
and the institution of Caliphate.
The thesis is divided into six chapters: chapter one sets out the conventional view
of the historical development of English criminal procedure and evidence;
chapter two subjects that to a critique and chapter three offers a revised thesis.
Chapter four, explores methods for interpreting and explaining Islam; chapter
five sets out rules relating to confessions and questioning according to the four
Sunni schools; chapter six puts them into "context" through an examination of
the "Islamisation" process in Malaysia
Manuscripts al-Taysir Fi al-Tafsir by Abu al-Barakat Muhammad Badr al-Din al-Ghazzi: A study on surah al-Fatihah and the opening of surah al-Baqarah / Ibrahim Abdullah Salih Muhamadi
This research is a study about a manuscript called Al-Taysir fi Al-Tafsir, it was wrote by Imam Badr Al-Din Al-Ghazzi. The objective of this study is to verify this manuscript. It has a certain significance, as it is unique, for it was the first time the holy Quran explained in such a unique way as no one else done it before him. The researcher followed analytical way according to comprehensive verification. The research came with introductory preamble, and 5 Chapters. The researcher talked about manuscript verification means and bases, Islamic manuscripts and their importance, and the importance of poetry in Islamic Folklore. Then talked about the author and his life and works, then about legality or legitimacy of interpreting the holy Quran by means of poetry, then explain about manuscript copies and its importance and the author way of conducting his work, finally he verified the poetry reflecting the actual work of study. The researcher did come with some important results, and gave some tips and advises regarding this study. One of the results is: This transcript belongs truly to the author Al-Ghazzi. Also that this copy of the name “A” had not copied from the original copy, so as the second copy that we have named “B”. Both copies A and B copied from different copies, as each one contains few fraises not found in the other one. The researcher has mentioned few tips to get better benefits of the research; one of them is to verify the rest of “Al-Baqarah chapter”, as well as the rest of chapters of the holy Quran. The second is to try to make available more copies that are different then what we have, named A and B, that hopefully have more Chapters of the holy Quran. To have intensive courses to researchers and students about transcript’s verification showing its importance and rules. Finally, to include a subject called “Transcript’s Verification” to bachelor and postgraduates’ curriculum
Al-Seikh Ibrahim Al-Yaziji’s Contributions To Arabic Language
His full name was Ibrahim b. Nasif b. 'Abdullah b. Nasif b. Janbolad b. Sa'd al-Yaziji al-Himsi, and he was born in Beirut on March 2, 1847. Being born and raised in a family containing many men of letters, he received a good education from his early childhood onwards. After starting to write poetry in his childhood and as a teenager, he gave it up to focus on studies of the Arabic language and literature. The versatility of this person, who can be described as an author, poet, linguist, critic, teacher, journalist, scientist (explorer and astronomer) and artist, was topped by his studies of the Arabic language. al-Yaziji devoted almost his entire life to Arabic and has made significant efforts to resolve the problems encountered in the language, while making comments and recommendations for its correct use and preservation
A Bibliometric Analysis of Research on Neophobia and Gastronomy Tourism
This study aims to investigate the current status of studies on "neophobia and gastronomic tourism" published in the international literature over the last 41 years (1980-2021). The data was extracted from Web of Science (WOS), and so a bibliometric analysis of the publications indexed in WOS was made in this study. The Vosviewer program was employed in order to analyse and visualize the data for a total of 3269 studies on the subject of "neophobia and gastronomy tourism" from the relevant database. Besides, the analysis of the data was supported by the R package program. It has been observed that there are 2113 articles out of 3269 documents on neophobia and gastronomy tourism and that the highest number of articles were published in 2021. The findings indicate that the most cited author was Siegrist, M. and that the most cited document was Birch, I.I. (1999). Also, it has been found that the most co-cited article was written by Pliner, P. The United States, with the most cited and strongest ties, also appears to be the most prolific country. Abstrak
Semakin berkembangnya zaman Tafsir Al-Qur’an sudah mengalami kemajuan. Pada masa modern ini Tafsir Al-Qur’an sudah memasuki era digital, dimana semua orang bisa mengakses dan mencari informasi baik berita maupun Tafsir Al-Qur’an di media sosial. Di media sosial sudah banyak yang membahas mengenai Tafsir Al-Qur’an salah satunya oleh Abdullah Zaen yang memabahas Surah Al-Ikhlas di kanal Yufid.TV. Abdullah Zaen sendiri merupakan cendekiawan muslim lulusan S-2 jurusan Aqidah Universitas Islam Madinah sekaligus pengajar di Pondok Pesantren Tunas Ilmu Purbalingga. Tulisan ini hadir untuk mengungkapkan secara signifikan Bagaimana sistematika penafsiran Abdullah Zaen terhadap Surah Al-Ikhlas di kanal Yufid.TV?, Bagaimana metode dan corak penafsiran Abdullah Zaen terhadap Surah Al-Ikhlas di kanal Yufid.TV?, Bagaimana penafsiran Abdullah Zaen terhadap Surah Al-Ikhlas di kanal Yufid.TV perspektif komunikasi massa?
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitiaan kepustakaan (Library Research) dan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi yaitu dilakukan dengan cara mengumpulkan berbagai data dan informasi yang ada di lingkungan online terutama pada Kanal Youtube Yufid.TV mengenai penafsiran Abdullah Zaen Surah Al-Ikhlas. Selanjutnya, data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif agar menghasilkan penjelasan yang detail, utuh dan sistematis. Penulis menggunakan dua teori untuk menganalisis penafsiran Abdullah Zaen yaitu menggunakan aspek penafsiran ijmali dan aspek komunikasi massa.
Sebagai hasil dari kajian ini, ditemukan bahwa sistematika penafsiran Abdullah Zaen terhadap Surah Al-Ikhlas mengarah kepada tiga hal, yakni asbab al-nuzul, tafsir Surah Al-Ikhlas, dan faidah Surah Al-Ikhlas. Dalam penafsiran Abdullah Zaen terhadap Surah Al-Ikhlas di kanal Yufid.TV memuat dua hal. Pertama, metode yang digunakan berupa tafsir ijmali. Kedua, corak yang digunakan pada penafsiran Abdullah Zaen berupa tafsir teologi. Ditilik dari perspektif komunikasi massa untuk menyikapi penafsirsan Surah Al-Ikhlas yang dilakukan Abdullah Zaen di kanal Yufid.TV ditemukan lima karakteristik komunikasi massa yang mencakup komunikasi yang bersifat umum, komunikasi yang bersifat anonym dan heterogen, komunikasi keserempakan, komunikasi yang bersifat satu arah, dan komunikasi yang bersifat umpan balik tertunda dan tidak langsung.
Abstrack
Interpretation of the Qur'an continues to progress along with the times. In this modern era, Tafsir Al-Qur’an has entered the digital era, where everyone can easily access and search for Tafsir Al-Qur’an on social media. There has been much discussion about Tafsir Al-Qur’an, one of which is Abdullah Zaen, who discusses Surah Al-Ikhlas on the Yufid.TV channel. Abdullah Zaen is a Muslim scholar who graduated with a master's degree in Aqidah at the Islamic University of Medina and a teacher at the Tunas Ilmu Islamic Boarding School in Purbalingga. This article aims to reveal significantly how Abdullah Zaen interprets Surah Al-Ikhlas on the Yufid.TV channel ?, how method and the style used in Abdullah Zaen's interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas on the Yufid.TV channel ?, and how Abdullah Zaen interprets Surah Al-Ikhlas on the channel Yufid.TV from a mass communication perspective?
The research method used is library research with an ethnographic approach which collected various data and information online, especially on the Yufid.TV Youtube Channel related to the interpretation of Abdullah Zaen Surah Al-Ikhlas. Furthermore, the data was analysed using a descriptive method to produce a detailed, complete, and systematic explanation. The author uses two theories to analyse Abdullah Zaen's interpretation, i.e., aspects of ijmali interpretation and aspects of mass communication.
As a result of this study, the researhcer found that the systematics Abdullah Zaen's interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas leads to three things, i.e., the asbab al-nuzul, the interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas, and the meaning of Surah Al-Ikhlas. Abdullah Zaen's interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas on the Yufid.TV channel contains two things. First, the method used is in the form of ijmali interpretation. Second, the style used in Abdullah Zaen's interpretation is theological interpretation. Judging from the perspective of mass communication to address the interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas by Abdullah Zaen on the Yufid.TV channel, five characteristics of mass communication were found which include general communication, anonymous and heterogeneous communication, simultaneous communication, one-way communication, and communications that are delayed and indirect feedback.

The impact of design approach and contracting practices on cost and execution period of school buildings
More than two million school-age children in Yemen are unable to enroll in education because of a shortage of school buildings. This is one of the reasons the country missed the Millennium Development Goal of achieving Education for all by 2015. The struggle to afford school accommodation will continue, because of the lack of resources and high unit cost. Construction cost as time schedule for an identical school building vary by the implementing agency. This paper aims to study in-depth this multi-dimensional issue to find out the factors that lead to this variation, as well as the reasons for the high unit cost and lengthy periods of construction. To achieve this objective, comprehensive raw data that was resourced from agencies that are assigned to implement the largest part of the construction program along with data collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were utilized. Complete sets of design and contracting documents of representative schools were used for deeper analysis and evaluation. The analysis shows that the employed design approaches lead to large structural elements and consequently to longer implementation period and 30% increase in cost. It also shows that contractors add up to 20% for the client’s procurement procedure, approvals, and payment cycle. Additionally, bidders price risks related to accessibility to building sites, availability of building materials, and how trouble-prone is the region. The findings are of relevance to researchers, education planners, and practitioners as they are of high importance to policy makers and financiers whose main concern is to meet the growing need for school accommodation
Assessing aerosol effects on solar irradiance in the NEOM region with the WRF-solar model
This study demonstrates the usability of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF)-Solar model, in predicting solar irradiance in the NEOM region of Saudi Arabia across different sky conditions. This research aims to enhance the accuracy of solar radiation forecasting by systematically evaluating the model's responses to external time-varying two-dimensional (2-D) aerosol optical depth (AOD) data at 550 nm under scenarios with varying cloud cover and aerosol levels. Through experiments representing distinct sky conditions, this study demonstrates consistent trends, with the control experiment (CTRL) consistently producing the highest Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) and Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI) due to lower representation of AOD in the model. Notably, experiments incorporating time-varying 2-D AOD from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) reanalysis outperform other experiments with NASA’s Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA- 2) analysis, and climatological AOD datasets, particularly on overcast days. Model validation against observations from the Tabuk University station further substantiates these findings. Furthermore, experimental results highlight the importance of dynamic aerosol data over the climatological or no-aerosol data in improving the solar energy predictions, emphasizing the need for accurate representation of aerosol-cloud-radiation interactions in numerical models for precise solar irradiance forecasting.Author would like to express his sincere gratitude to KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) especially Prof. Omar Knio and Prof. Ibrahim Hoteit for generously providing the resources essential for conducting this research. Behceti Seyyid İbrahim Efendi “Tarih-i Sülale-i Köprülü” : (transkripsiyon ve tahlil)
Çalışmamızın konusunu müellifimiz Behcetî Seyyid İbrahim Efendi’nin Silsiteti’l-Âsafîyye Fî Devleti’l-Hâkāniyyeti’l-Osmâniyye isimli eserinin transkirpt ve tahlîli oluşturmaktadır. Müellifimiz eserinde, Osmanlı Devlet Teşkilatında Köprülü ailesinden görev yapan kişileri anlatmaktadır. Naima ve Raşid Târîhlerindeki Köprülü ailesinin etrafında geçen bilgilerin derlenmesiyle meydana getirilen eserde sırasıyla Köprülü Mehmed Paşa, Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Paşa, Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Paşa, Amca-zâde Hüseyin Paşa, Köprülü-zâde Numan Paşa, Köprülü-zâde Abdullah Paşa ve Köprülü-zâde Hâfız Ahmed Paşa (ölm.1769) anlatılmaktadır. Köprülü Mehmed Paşa ve Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Paşa dönemlerindeki olaylar mufassal bir biçimde anlatılırken daha sonraki kişilerin dönemlerindeki hadiseler muhtasar bir şekilde anlatılmaktadır. Köprülü-zâde Numan Paşa’nın anlatıldığı bölüm orijinal bilgiler de içermektedir. Hâfız Ahmed Paşa’nın imamı olan Behcetî Seyyid İbrahim Efendi bu bölümde kendi gözlemlerine yer vererek Hâfız Ahmed Paşa’nın Niş’teki icraatlerini ve diğer mahallerdeki çalışmalarını anlatmaktadır. Eser Hafız Ahmed Paşa’nın yeni görev yeri olan Cidde Valiliğine gidişini içeren olaylarla bitmektedir. Osmanlı Tarihinde fasılalarla yaklaşık yüz yıl kadar süren Köprülü ailesinin tarihiyle ilgili olan bu eserin transkript ve tahlili sunularak dönemin tarihiyle ilgili olan bilgiler araştırmacıların istifadesine sunulmuştur.In this study, the work of Behcetî Seyyid İbrahim Efendi called Silsiteti’l- Âsafiyye Fî Devleti’l-Hâkāniyyeti’l-Osmâniye is reviewed. In the book, the author explains the people from Köprülü Family who are charged in the Otoman State Organization. The book is constituted by using the important information occured around the Köprülü Family in the time Na‘imâ and Raşid. Moreover, Köprülü Mehmed Paşa, Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Paşa, Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Paşa, Amca-zâde Hüseyin Paşa, Köprülü-zâde Numan Paşa, Köprülü-zâde Abdullah Paşa and Köprülü-zâde Hafız Ahmed Paşa (ölm.1769) have been mentioned respectively. While the periods of Köprülü Mehmed Paşa and Köprülü Fazıl Ahmed Paşa are explained at large, on the other hand, the others are explained shortly. The part in which Köprülü-zâde Numan Paşa takes place contains original data. Especially, representing the names of Numan Paşa’s Works and the historical records about his death are very important on behalf of cultural history. In the last part, Köprülü-zâde Hafız Ahmed Paşa is stated and Behcetî Seyyid İbrahim Efendi, who is the imam of Hafız Ahmed Paşa, explains the Works of Hafız Ahmed Paşa in Niş and in other places. The book ends with the events occuring during Hafız Ahmed Paşa’s Cidde Governorship way. In this study, the book about Köprülü Family, which lasted nearly a century with separations in the Otoman History, is examined and the data is represenred on behalf of the researchers. Bullying In Education: a comparative study of Sandra Harris and Abdullah Nashih Ulwan’s thought
ABSTRACT
Bullying is the common case in educational field. Bullying often misunderstood as the educational methods through punishment or harassment. This misunderstanding makes many educators and teachers become the bullies or subjects of bullying. Educators are very close with Bullying, because the position of educators has more authority in the school and the educational model in this nation is Teacher – centered class model
Bullying becomes global educational issue because almost all of nation entire the world has the bullying problems. There are differences about the existence of bullying between in Indonesia and Western Countries, one of that is the bully in Indonesia dominated by educator, while in western countries, the bullies are more variations, such as educators, peers and family. In this research, researcher more focused on Bullying case that included educators and students, due to the close interaction between them.
Researcher use library research as the kind of research and take the primaries data from two books, Tarbiyatul Aulad Fil Islam, written by Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan dan Bullying: The Bullies, The Victims and the Bystanders, written by Sandra Harris. Both books are considered to represent the Western and Islamic thought on Bullying. These books explain the concept, existence and solutions on Bullying, although in Tarbiyatul Aulad Fil Islam, Bullying term specifically is not used by the author due to the difference era between the author and present.
This research focuses on (1) to know the concept of bullying according to Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan and Sandra Harris. (2) to determine differences in the concept of bullying according to Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan and Sandra Harris. This study aimed to compare the concept, existence and solution for Bullying case. Method of collecting data is done through collecting articles, data and journals about Bullying. In analyzing data, the researcher uses qualitative comparative techniques, namely by comparing data from different sources.
The research suggests that the concept of bullying, according to Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan is one of the educational method through violence or punishment. Although this method is allowed, it is the last method to educate children and accompany with the strict requirements to be applied. Meanwhile, Sandra Harris firmly rejected Bullying or educated student through violent, because violence can impair mental and child psychology.
Researcher wish there was more research on Bullying, especially Bullying in the view of Islam and its solution. So that the later generations would be realized free from violence in the name of education

Bullying merupakan masalah yang sering terjadi dalam dunia pendidikan. Bullying sering disalahartikan sebagai salah satu bentuk pendidikan melalui kekerasan ataupun hukuman. Adanya kesalahpahaman tersebut, menyebabkan banyak pendidik atau guru yang menjadi subjek/pelaku Bullying. Guru sangat rawan untuk melakukan Bullying, karena posisi guru yang lebih memiliki otoritas di dalam lingkup sekolah dan model pembelajaran yang kita gunakan masih menggunakan model Teacher – centered class.
Bullying menjadi sebuah isu pendidikan global dimana hampir semua negara di dunia mempunyai masalah seperti itu. Ada beberapa perbedaan keberadaan bullying di Indonesia dengan di dunia barat, salah satu adalah pelaku bullying di Indonesia lebih didominasi oleh guru/pendidik, sedangkan di dunia barat, pelaku Bullying lebih bervariatif, meliputi teman sebaya, guru ataupun family. Di penelitian ini, peneliti lebih memfokuskan dalam kasus Bullying yang melibatkan Guru dan murid, karena kedua komponen tersebut menjadi pihak yang saling terkait satu sama lain secara langsung.
Di penelitian ini, peneliti mengambil jenis penelitian library research dan mengambil data primer dari dua buku, Tarbiyatul Aulad Fil Islam, karangan Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan dan Bullying: The Bullies, The Victims and the Bystanders, karangan Sandra Harris. Kedua buku tersebut dianggap mewakili bentuk pemikiran Barat dan Islam mengenai Bullying.
Penelitian ini berfokus pada (1) Untuk mengetahui konsep Bullying menurut Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan dan Sandra Harris. (2) Untuk mengetahui perbedaan konsep Bullying menurut Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan dan Sandra Harris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan konsep, keberadaan dan solusi mengenai Bullying antara Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan dan Sandra Harris. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui mengumpulkan artikel – artikel, data dan journal mengenai Bullying. Untuk menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan teknik analisis comparative kualitatif, yaitu dengan membandingkan data hasil penelitian dengan data dari sumber yang berbeda.
Hasil penelitian mengatakan bahwa, konsep Bullying, menurut Abdullah Nasikh Ulwan adalah salah satu metode dalam pendidikan melalui kekerasan atau hukuman. Meskipun metode ini diperbolehkan, metode ini merupakan metode terakhir untuk mendidik anak dan disertai dengan persyaratan yang ketat untuk bisa diterapkan. Sedangkan Sandra Harris, dengan tegas menolak Bullying ataupun pendidikan dengan kekerasan, dikarenakan kekerasan dapat mengganggu mental dan psikologi anak
