Arabic poetry is spatial poetry in its connection to the environment that produced it and the human being that created it. Thus, the literary researcher has to look at the 'place' in poetry in detachment of nationality, which may limit the place to some external features, or may be best lost to overused expressions. The literary critic should therefore dig deep into the depth of the relationships that the place has with different meanings, verbal and practical traditions, morals, and behavior.  This study aims to reveal Rashed Hussein's relationship with the 'place'. It focuses on introducing an approximate quantitative census of places and their different spaces. In addition, the research examines the positive and negative references to the place in an attempt to explore the poet's motives to refer to these types of places. The study also examines and analyzes the data according to the dialectic theory and the phenomenon of contradictory dualities in order to understand how to deal with the conflicts that result from historical circumstances. The study concludes that the 'place' constitutes a fundamental component in Rashed Hussein's poetry, which reflects his personal circumstances, patriotic Palestinian circumstances, and Arab national circumstances. It also argues that the poet carries the place in his thoughts and feelings, which implies that there is a blending of the poet and the place, and therefore, the elements of nature, earth and the human beings combine within him. Rashed Hussein describes trees, stones, plains, mountains, rivers and the sea, the village and the city that live in his memory. This combination of various places creates the internal world of the committed poet, Rashed Hussein

A model of a private sector organisation's intention to adopt cloud computing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    No full text
Cloud computing is a paradigm for providing and delivering IT services over the Internet. The cloud can provide several benefits for organisations, including cost reduction and flexibility. In developing countries, such as Saudi Arabia, cloud computing is still not widely adopted. In fact, migrating an existing system to the cloud depends on a number of factors that may affect an organisation's decision to adopt the cloud in the private sector in Saudi Arabia. In order to encourage the adoption of cloud computing, it is important to understand why some organisations are willing to move to the cloud while others are not. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate the factors that may influence an organisation's decision regarding adopting cloud computing. An integrated model is proposed which incorporates critical factors derived from a literature review on technology adoption and cloud computing along with other factors (such as physical location) that have not been examined in previous studies as main factors that may affect the organisation’s decision to adopt cloud services.A study was conducted in private sector organisations in Saudi Arabia in order to improve the proposed model. Interviews were carried out with IT experts to review the identified factors and explore other factors that were not mentioned in previous studies. The second stage of this study was an online questionnaire which was used to confirm the existing factors in the cloud adoption model and other factors that were identified from interviews (trialability, external support, industry, and culture). Among the 17 factors examined, the results of the questionnaire revealed that only two, complexity and competitive pressure, did not significantly impact the adoption decision. Finally, a questionnaire was conducted with 300 IT staff in different organisations in the private sector in Saudi Arabia, in order to test the model for cloud adoption and to explore factors that were positively or negatively associated with cloud adoption. The findings of the evaluation study showed that there was both a direct and indirect effect of the factors on an organisation's intention to adopt the cloud. The findings of this study showed that quality of service and trust are the most influential determinants of cloud adoption. However, security and privacy concerns still prevent cloud adoption in this country. Furthermore, the physical location had a significant direct effect on compliance with regulation and privacy. This study also showed that the effect of these variables differed according to organisation size and in adopter and non-adopter companies. The results confirmed that the proposed model was well-fitted with the collected data. Thus, the developed model is valuable in explaining the adoption of the cloud at organisational level. Overall, the findings of this research provide great value in terms of guidelines to the organisations, cloud providers, managers, government and policy makers on ways of increasing the implementation and encouraging the spread of cloud computing in Middle Eastern countries particularly in Saudi Arabia

Impact of organization culture on TQM implementation barriers

This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This study examines the relationship between organisational culture and TQM implementation barriers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting TQM implementation. For TQM implementation to take root effectively, the critical role of organisational culture is widely recognised. The existence of pitfalls and obstacles (barriers) to implementing TQM is also widely recognized, as is the importance of understanding these TQM implementation barriers. Nevertheless, whilst many TQM implementation models and frameworks have been designed and proposed, no study has been located in the literature that has systematically examined the relationship between organisational culture and TQM implementation barriers. This theoretical lapse in the TQM literature necessitates an investigation of the direction and significance of the relationship which can help in devising more informed TQM implementation models. In this context, a quantitative research methodology was adopted to examine the profiles of organisational culture and of TQM implementation barriers in organisations in Bahrain and to examine the relationship between these variables. Bahrain is presently going through a rapid expansion in quality management system adoption. Accordingly, the research uses four constructs of organisational culture as independent variables and six constructs of TQM implementation barriers identified through the literature as dependent variables. A set of hypotheses was developed describing the expected relationships between these two sets of variables. The study adopted a positivist, deductive approach using an online survey questionnaire to obtain quantitative data for hypothesis testing. The research instrument was assessed for validity and reliability through structured interviews. Responses to the survey were obtained from 325 organisations located in Bahrain. Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) version 16.0 was used to test the measurement model using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and to test the structural model using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Both models showed a very good fit to the data, with good construct validity and reliability. The findings of the study showed that group culture, which is believed to be an ‘ideal’ culture for TQM implementation helps decrease employee barriers, information barriers and customer related barriers as predicted. However group culture wasn’t found to help decrease top management barriers. Rational culture was found to decrease top management barriers as predicted but it wasn’t found to help decrease employee and customer barriers. The findings confirm the significant impact of hierarchical culture in the Bahrain context in decreasing planning and process management barriers. Developmental culture’s potential to lower employee and customer barriers was observed but was not found to be statistically significant. This research makes several contributions in both academic and practical terms. Theoretically, positioning organisational culture as an antecedent of TQM implementation barriers, this study is the first holistic approach that attempts to empirically investigate which type of organisational culture is related to which TQM implementation barriers. Understanding the nature, strength and direction of these relationships can help to inform and support future TQM implementation attempts. Practically, this research will benefit organisations who have not been able to fully realise TQM, or who are in the process of planning the introduction of TQM. The findings of the study can help Bahraini organisations to realise the long term quality objectives of the Bahrain Centre of Excellence’s Vision 2030 programme. Furthermore, the study has contributed a new empirically tested scale for measuring TQM implementation barriers - a valuable tool on its own, or in conjunction with the organisational culture profile assessment tool - for both practitioners wishing to examine their readiness for TQM or progress in creating a TQM ethos, and for future researchers wishing to extend our understanding of the influence of TQM barriers and/or culture on major organisational improvement interventions. It is expected that replication of this study in other countries and regions with different culture and context may help in developing an improved model of TQM implementation. Implications for managers and future research are advanced.Ministry of Defence, Kingdom of Bahrai

It aims This research to study the grammatical significance in poems haron Hashim rashed from where prefixing ,forestallment , deleting additional and the composing structures the importance of this study relates to studying grammar in term of meaning; so it gives freshness and leanness. it also gives the poem seriousness and facetiousness. In this study I depend on integrative approach, the historical approach of the poet`s life and the descriptive analytical approach. I explain the meaning of significance grammaticalness then extract the significances from haron Hashim rashed poems and the statistics approach; so I compute the grammatical significance in the poet`s poem. The most important results that I found in this study are the following: first the prefixing and forestallment have many significance the prefixing has the meaning of attention and there search shed alight on that deleting is linguistic phenomenon haron Hashim rashed poem and has abbreviation significance. The research also found that additional letters have two significances: the first one is moral significances, which asserts on meaning. The second one is verbal significances, which focuses on decorating the pronunciation.
