A Comparison of Information about the Jochid Khans Contained in “Mu’izz al-ansab” and “Tavarikh-i guzida-i Nusrat-nama” with the Numismatic Data »
No full textThis article compares the numismatic data on the Jochids with information of two genealogical sources (Paris copy of “Mu’izz al-Ansab” and Leningrad copy of “Tavarikh-i Guzida-i Nusrat-nama”) in order to identify the khans listed in these sources. Based on a comparative analysis of the data provided by these sources we have described and identified their degree of political engagement. A. Isin believed that “Mu’izz al-Ansab” was politically biased against the descendants of Urus Khan. The author of “Mu’izz al-Ansab” highlighted the khans graphically. The article does not investigated the khans from the descendants of Batu, who were also highlighted graphically. The list of the khans contained in “Mu’izz al-Ansab” is following: Tokhtamish Khan, Jalal al-Din Khan, Kerimberdy Khan, Köpek Khan, Kadyrberdy Khan, Seid Ahmed Khan, Muhammed Khan, Dauletberdy Khan, Timur Khan, Timur-Qutluq Khan, Timur Khan, Muhammed Khan, Shadibek Khan, Ghiyas al-Din Khan, Dervish Khan, Urus Khan, Toqtaqiya Khan, Timur Malik Khan, Barak Khan. All these khans are indicated there as the descendants of Tuqa-Timur, the son of Jochi. None of the descendants of Shiban Khan, son of Jochi, are indicated in “Mu’izz al-Ansab” as a khan. Dzhumaduk is identified as a potential khan by a postscript next to his name in the following sentence: “they want to make him ruler despite the fact that his father is still alive”. Thus, we can say that “Mu’izz al-Ansab” is a source sympathetic to the Tuqa-Timurids. A version that “Mu’izz al-Ansab” was compiled against Urus Khan and his descendants could not be proved. The list of the khans contained in “Tavarikh-i Guzida-i Nusrat-nama” is following (excluding the descendants of Batu): Shiban Khan, Ming-Timur Khan, Mahmoud Khwaja Khan, Khizr Khan, Abul Khair Khan, Sheikh Haidar Khan, Said Baba Khan, Khush-Haidar Khan, Haji Muhammed Khan, Sayidak Khan, Mahmudak Khan, Abak Khan, Khizr Khan, Timur Khwaja Khan, Bazarchi Khan, Tokhtamish Khan, Muhammed Khan, Ghiyas al-Din Khan, Timur Qutluq Khan, Muhammed Khan, Ahmad Khan, Shadibek Khan, Mustafa Khan, Dervish Khan, Dzhegre Khan, Urus Khan, Barak Khan. 13 descendants of Shiban, 12 descendants of Tuqa-Timur and 1 descendant of Tangut are indicated in “Tavarikh-i Guzida-i Nusrat-nama” as the khans. On this basis, we can say that “Tavarikh-i Guzida-i Nusrat-nama” is moderately pro-Shibanid source

Rethinking Qawwali: perspectives of Sufism, music, and devotion in north India
Get PDFtextScholarship has tended to focus exclusively on connections of Qawwali, a north Indian devotional practice and musical genre, to religious practice. A focus on the religious degree of the occasion inadequately represents the participant’s active experience and has hindered the discussion of Qawwali in modern practice. Through the examples of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music and an insightful BBC radio article on gender inequality this thesis explores the fluid musical exchanges of information with other styles of Qawwali performances, and the unchanging nature of an oral tradition that maintains sociopolitical hierarchies and gender relations in Sufi shrine culture. Perceptions of history within shrine culture blend together with social and theological developments, long-standing interactions with society outside of the shrine environment, and an exclusion of the female body in rituals. To better address Qawwali performances and their meanings, I foreground the perspectives of shrine social actors and how their thoughts reflect their community, its music, and gendered spaces.Asian Studie
The Impacts of Insecurity and Instability on FDI Inflow and Business Activities in Afghanistan
No full textAbstract: Despite the existence of plenteous investment opportunities in various sectors such as mining, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, services, construction, and telecommunication, moreover the unprecedented attention of the international community, large-scale financial assistance in the last two decades, the strong support and significant reforms initiated by the government to facilitate a better environment for doing business; unfortunately, Afghanistan remains one of the most unattractive poor economies in the world. Four decades of conflicts, the deterrent security situation, and the political instability significantly caused backwardness and poverty and negatively impacted the overall economic growth in the country.
Therefore, this study investigates the negative impacts of insecurity and instability on the inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) and business activities in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, it explores the role of FDI and business activities in stimulating economic growth, improving security conditions, and assuring peace and stability in the country.
The research employed a survey questionnaire to collect the primary data from the Afghan business community who have been directly and indirectly affected by the consequences of insecurity and instability. At the same time, the literature of other studies was comprehensively reviewed to discuss the research topic and collect the secondary data. A mixture of qualitative and quantitative approaches was adopted to analyze and describe the research findings.

The report includes the process of reviewing and evaluating company’s financial statements, because without this the ratio analysis, vertical and horizontal analysis cannot be done. Ratio analysis mainly calculates the statistical relationships between data. The ratio analysis helps an organization to understand performance on the last fiscal year which further helps them to take decisions in future.
I have selected this topic after consulting with my academic supervisor. The beginning part of my report contains the brief introduction of the selected company and the objectives, scope, methodology and limitations of the study.
In the second part, I have covered the detailed background of the company such as the history, global network, mission & strategy, the organizational structure, market position and an overview of its operations.
In the third part, I have shared my internship experience at Finance & Accounts Department of GlaxoSmithKline, Bangladesh Ltd. In this part, I have described my observation and understanding about the organization including my responsibilities and working experiences.
Then starts the main analysis part of my report where I have done vertical, horizontal, comparative and ratio analysis of consecutive five years. Here, I have presented the result and according to the result, I have interpreted the financial condition of Square, Beximco and GSK Bangladesh Ltd.
In the next part, I have discussed some recommendations that will help GSK to strengthen their financial base more.

Identification of autophosphorylation sites in eukaryotic elongation factor-2 kinase
Get PDFeEF2K [eEF2 (eukaryotic elongation factor 2) kinase] phosphorylates and inactivates the translation elongation factor eEF2. eEF2K is not a member of the main eukaryotic protein kinase superfamily, but instead belongs to a small group of so-called ?-kinases. The activity of eEF2K is normally dependent upon Ca2+ and calmodulin. eEF2K has previously been shown to undergo autophosphorylation, the stoichiometry of which suggested the existence of multiple sites. In the present study we have identified several autophosphorylation sites, including Thr348, Thr353, Ser366 and Ser445, all of which are highly conserved among vertebrate eEF2Ks. We also identified a number of other sites, including Ser78, a known site of phosphorylation, and others, some of which are less well conserved. None of the sites lies in the catalytic domain, but three affect eEF2K activity. Mutation of Ser78, Thr348 and Ser366 to a non-phosphorylatable alanine residue decreased eEF2K activity. Phosphorylation of Thr348 was detected by immunoblotting after transfecting wild-type eEF2K into HEK (human embryonic kidney)-293 cells, but not after transfection with a kinase-inactive construct, confirming that this is indeed a site of autophosphorylation. Thr348 appears to be constitutively autophosphorylated in vitro. Interestingly, other recent data suggest that the corresponding residue in other ?-kinases is also autophosphorylated and contributes to the activation of these enzymes [Crawley, Gharaei, Ye, Yang, Raveh, London, Schueler-Furman, Jia and Cote (2011) J. Biol. Chem. 286, 2607-2616]. Ser366 phosphorylation was also detected in intact cells, but was still observed in the kinase-inactive construct, demonstrating that this site is phosphorylated not only autocatalytically but also in trans by other kinases

He became famous not because of any one sphere of life but because of various aspects. As well as being a writer, artist, intellectual and politician, he was also called the inventor of calligraphy. He became associated with the department to which he belonged. He had such a personality that the source of his fame and success was not wealth or family influence but the fruit of his hard work. He worked hard, diligently and honestly all his life. Despite holding various positions in the government, he lived a very simple and pious life.
He was a versatile personality. His heart was full of love not only for the people of Punjab but also for the welfare of the people of Pakistan as a whole.
Magazine Sawira and Magazine Nusrat are a testament to this literary and political attachment. After studying the Qur'an al-Hakim, he made humanity his subject in Dab Akbar۔ Dab Akbar is truly a reflection of his personality. In the case of Punjab, the people of Punjab have been declared as a link to the message of stability and solidarity. He showed people new ways by experimenting in calligraphy, which is why he was called the inventor. Now his works of art, editorials, literary books are a rare part of our history. Which are still being used today? Muhammad Hanif Ramey Are these valuable assets as archives for us? So even today, their services need to be used in literary, journalistic and parliamentary terms
