    Note on the Flora of Plane Island (Oran)

    The Oran coastline is a remarkable region cited as a hotspot of plant biodiversity (Véla & Benhouhou 2007). Plane island is the third largest island after Habibas and Rachgoun islands in the Oran region but is less studied. A botanical assessment of Plane island was undertaken in spring 2016. We carried out several phytoecological surveys. We collected and identified ten species in eight families : Chenopodiastrum murale (L.) Fuentes, Uotila & Borsch, Crithmum maritimum L., Cynomorium coccineum L., Frankenia cf laevis L., Limonium pescadense Greuter & Burdet, Malva arborea (L.) Webb & Berthel, Mesembryanthemum crystallinum L., Mesembryanthemum nodiflorum L., Senecio leucanthemifolius Poiret subsp. crassifolius, Suaeda vera Forssk. Ex J. F. Gmel.     The aim of this article is to show how the philosopher and essayist Fabrice Hadjadj develops the theological concept of Paradise in correlation with two Italian authors, namely Dante Alighieri and Lorenzo da Ponte. In the first case, Dante provides clues to the understanding of a notion of Paradise that goes beyond the criticisms of Friedrich Nietzsche. In the second, the author explores the concept of “redemption”, present in the opera “Don Giovanni”. After exposing the philosopher's interpretation in each case, we find that the reading of Dante promotes, for Hadjadj, a displacement of paradise from the outside to the interior and that Don Giovanni explains, according to Hadjadj, the redemptive dynamics of Paradise, as the invitation to maximum happiness is not the result of a personal achievement or the fulfillment of a moral precept, but a gift that comes from Above. Finally, we verify the transdisciplinary character of Hadjadj's reading of Da Ponte and Dante, considering them as authors whose works express deep realities that need to be unveiled and that can involve and help those who read the text contemporaneously.O presente artigo pretende mostrar como o filósofo e ensaísta de sobrenome árabe, origem judia e religião católica Fabrice Hadjadj se utiliza de dois autores italianos, a saber, Dante Alighieri e Lorenzo da Ponte, para aprofundar as suas reflexões sobre a noção de Paraíso. No primeiro caso, Dante fornece pistas para a compreensão de uma noção de Paraíso que ultrapasse as críticas de Friedrich Nietzsche. No segundo, o autor explora o conceito de “redenção”, presente na ópera “Don Giovanni”. Após a exposição da interpretação do filósofo em cada caso, constatamos que a leitura de Dante promove, para Hadjadj, um deslocamento do paraíso do exterior para o interior e que Don Giovanni explicita, segundo Hadjadj, a dinâmica redentora do Paraíso, à medida em que o convite à máxima felicidade não é fruto de uma conquista pessoal ou do cumprimento de um preceito moral, mas um dom que vem do Alto. Finalmente, constatamos o caráter transdisciplinar da leitura que Hadjadj faz de Da Ponte e Dante, considerando-os como autores cujas obras exprimem realidades profundas que precisam ser desveladas e que podem envolver e auxiliar àqueles que leem o texto contemporaneamente

    Fabrice Hadjadj (1971-) is a prolific contemporary French Catholic author whose work is largely unacknowledged by the international academy. This article proposes ways of classifying his creative work, analyzing his distinctive literary gestures and relating these to his religious vision. Hadjadj can be situated as a writer of fullness in the Taylorian sense. Nevertheless, he moderates the transcendent dimensions of fullness by a celebration of the clownesque. At a textual level, Hadjadj's literary art is one of disruptive hybridization and experimentalism. At a linguistic level, however, we observe an integrative exploration of what he terms the ineffable and the indicible. Hadjadj's work is only growing in complexity and importance and deserves more scholarly attention

    Techno-rationalities and the motherhood trilogy of Fabrice Hadjadj::Beyond the reaches of Kaufmann’s médico-religieux

    Vincent Kaufmann’s Ménage à trois: littérature, médecine, religion (2007) sets up the category of the médico-religieux as a tool to understand the intersection of medicine and religion within French literature. This article aims to contest this paradigm, not only in the spirit of Felski’s hostility to the hermeneutics of suspicion (2015) but also because Kaufmann’s account of the religious is too dependent on a Weberian model of the instrumental-rational and thereby insensitive to patterns of religious self-understanding. To illustrate and deepen this objection to Kaufmann’s notion of the medico-religious, the article offers a reading of three plays by Fabrice Hadjadj, contemporary France’s most prolific Catholic author, especially by using the concept of the theandric encounter (a meeting of the divine and the human) which is sensitive to the possibility of the value-rational in a medico-religious imaginary but does not exclude the instrumental-rational. Massacre des innocents (2006), Pasiphaé (2008) and Jeanne et les posthumains (2014) all evoke in different ways elements of the medico-religious, including the evasion of pain and the instrumental uses of religion.     A stiff-String model for torque and drag analysis in directional wells

    Overcoming friction forces generated from the contact of tubulars with the wellbore is one of the most important challenges in directional drilling, hence the need to accurately predict these friction forces. This paper undertakes the issue of tubular friction modeling in directional wells and presents a new approach for calculating torque and drag which relies on the beam theory for large deformations in the vertical plane. A comparative study using the soft-string model, a commercial stiff-string model, and the proposed model is carried out. To effectively test the validity and limitations of the proposed model, two wells with different geometries are studied. Results indicate that the proposed model gives similar predictions of the axial force and torque compared to the other industry-validated models where the difference of values at surface did not exceed 1% in all operations for smooth trajectories. Opposed to the soft-string model, the proposed model is able to predict the contact side and provide a profiling of the bending moment across the drill string. It is also able to carry out radial clearance analysis which has been shown to be of great importance when tortuosity is an issue where an increase of up to 10.05% of axial force at surface was observed when the hole diameter was reduced from 0.40 to 0.18 m for a tortuous well. The proposed model suffers, however, from the inability to model the post-buckling behavior of tubulars, which could generally be solved by pairing it with already available buckling model

    Measuring and modeling flow has played a central role in predicting its behavior and its effects on the surroundings. Flow measurement is the basis of trade between producers, transporters, process plants, state and public marketers. To improve transactional operation, thermal flowmeters could provide direct mass flow measurement of gases and vapors over a wide range of process conditions without the need for density corrections based on pressure and temperature. The flow meters are classified according to the domain in which they are used and their operating principle. The goal of this work is to provide an overview of using thermal flow meter in hydrocarbons industries.
