Processing Lignocellulosic Feedstock Using Ionic Liquids for Biorefinery Application
The use of Lignocellulosic residues (LC) such as conventional food crop remains, for Bioenergy and Biorefinery applications is an attractive way to increase feedstock availability without the investment in additional land area. Moreover, it is noteworthy that biomolecules produced from LC, namely second generation (2G), has a potentially better greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions balance. One of the most economically successful lignocellulosic sources is the sugarcane crop, with a global production of about 1.7 gigatonnes in 2019. Although LC is rich in carbohydrates, 40 – 90 wt%, these sugars are not readily converted due to their molecular structure. Consequently, it must be treated, so that LC’s molecular nature is changed into a more convenient arrangement favoring subsequent conversions. Such process is called pretreatment (PT) and is considered the most important step to obtain an efficient conversion of LC’s constituents. Recently, ionic liquids (ILs) have emerged as an alternative technology for biomass pretreatment. Discovery of 95 PTSD loci provides insight into genetic architecture and neurobiology of trauma and stress-related disorders
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) genetics are characterized by lower discoverability than most other psychiatric disorders. The contribution to biological understanding from previous genetic studies has thus been limited. We performed a multi-ancestry meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies across 1,222,882 individuals of European ancestry (137,136 cases) and 58,051 admixed individuals with African and Native American ancestry (13,624 cases). We identified 95 genome-wide significant loci (80 novel). Convergent multi-omic approaches identified 43 potential causal genes, broadly classified as neurotransmitter and ion channel synaptic modulators (e.g., GRIA1, GRM8, CACNA1E), developmental, axon guidance, and transcription factors (e.g., FOXP2, EFNA5, DCC), synaptic structure and function genes (e.g., PCLO, NCAM1, PDE4B), and endocrine or immune regulators (e.g., ESR1, TRAF3, TANK). Additional top genes influence stress, immune, fear, and threat-related processes, previously hypothesized to underlie PTSD neurobiology. Long-range supercurrents through half-metallic ferromagnetic CrO2
We report on measurements of supercurrents through the half-metallic ferromagnet CrO2 grown on hexagonal Al2O3 (sapphire). The current was observed to flow over a distance of 700 nm between two superconducting amorphous Mo70Ge30 electrodes which were deposited on the CrO2 film. The critical current Ic increases as function of decreasing temperature. Upon applying an in-plane magnetic field, Ic goes through a maximum at the rather high field of 80 mT. We believe this to be a long-range proximity effect in the ferromagnet, carried by odd-frequency pairing correlations.Kavli Institute of NanoscienceApplied Science
Efektivitas Aplikasi Daun Pepaya dalam Pengendalian Kutu Tempurung Coccus celatus
Tanaman daun ungu (Graptophyllum pictum L) adalah tanaman obat yang digunakan sebagai bahan baku jamu saintifik hemoroid. Kendala yang dialami dalam budidaya tanaman daun ungu adalah serangan hama kutu tempurung (Coccus celatus L). Daun pepaya berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai pestisida nabati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan daun pepaya sebagai pestisida nabati untuk mengatasi serangan kutu tempurung pada daun ungu. Percobaan eksperimental laboratoris ini menggunakan metode RAL dengan perlakuan meliputi ekstrak etanol daun pepaya dengan konsentrasi 10 ppm, 100 ppm, 1000 ppm, perasan segar (1:1), air rebusan (1:1), dan akuades. Setiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali. Variabel yang diamati adalah mortalitas kutu tempurung setelah aplikasi perlakuan. Pengamatan dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali dengan interval 3 jam sekali selama 12 jam pengamatan dengan 2 kali penyemprotan pada jam 09.00 dan 12.00 WIB. Data dianalisis dengan analisis ragam taraf 5% dan beda nyata diuji lanjut menggunakan uji Dunnet t(2-sided). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ekstrak etanol daun pepaya dengan konsentrasi 100 ppm cukup efektif dan efisien untuk mengendalikan kutu tempurung pada tanaman daun ungu
