No full textMolte esperienze legate alle "smart cities" sembrano essere limitate al controllo della efficienza urbana attraverso la sola tecnologia del digitale. Tuttavia per costruire la città futura si ritiene prima di tutto necessario ricercarne una sostenibilità urbana, architettonica e, più in genere, formale. Perché dunque non costruire delle città che, oltre che essere "smart", siano anche e soprattutto belle? No full textThe events around the Triennial experience have revealed a relationship of an 'elective affinity' existing
between the Italian and the German cultures, both founded on the idea that the project should be
understood as an analytical tool for knowledge and on the issue that architecture, at the same time,
represent the concrete manifestation of common values.
It is therefore possible to identify some recurring themes in the project, linked one to each other, such
as the relationship with History, Construction and City. History understood as a line of continuity for
the expression of a language away from the formal and the technological temptations and as a
container of possible choices. Construction as a tool through which the architecture becomes objective

A mosque overlooking the sea
No full textA mosque, before being a sacred worship building, is a place. Faith is, by definition, professed
within a community and, by extension, will find expression in people's attitude to life. Its
multifunctional character, very different from a Christian church but similar to a synagogue,
not only contemplates a religious function for personal/individual praying but also a space
where meetings and debates take place. The project is an integration of typical forms of Islamic
architecture with traditional architecture, avoiding any type of axiality, at least as regards the
direction of orientation toward qibla with existing urban fabric in Via Nuova Marina in Naples
already well compromised in the design of the plan.
The building adopts the type to the Aula for the prayer room. On the sides of the room,
according to a progression that relates to the Islamic rite of catharsis are collocated the
service areas divided by gender, and turned with a portico towards the shan, the reception
courtyard, which is also an outdoor praying place. At the entrance are located the pool of
ablutions for the purification of the spirit. A minaret, almost echoing a beacon to the sea recalls
the spiritual gathering and openness towards other cultures and religions in the Mediterranean.
As a bell tower has a strong symbolic character: it signals the presence of Islam in a city as
diverse and cosmopolitan as Naples.
Surely we believe that realizing a mosque to Naples would give this city a great chance, an
opportunity to boast, at last, a place of cultural exchange, and, above all, of confrontation
and dialogue challenging unacceptable segregation, isolation or exclusion and witnessing his
condescension to peaceful coexistence

No full textThe paper proposes the study of a part of Naples, the Spanish Quarter, advancing spatial
considerations that have taken advantage from the analysis methodology and representation by Uwe
Schröder, Professor of RWTH at University of Aachen in Germany. This methods approach, using red
and blue colors, applied an interpretative classification of the urban space where red defines the
'hot' spaces, while the blue the 'cold' ones.
This method supposes different levels on different scales: the wide scale identifies the relationship
with the territorial systems of the study area; the intermediate scale defines urban ‘inclusive’ spaces
and ‘exclusive’ individual ones; the urban typological scale, finally, proposes a further classification of
the spaces deepening and specifying the ‘inclusive’ and the ‘exclusive’ character of the space.
The analitical operation, in general, intend to reflect on the quality of the space in between scale that is the
relationship between“built and unbuilt objects, territory and settlements, settlements and communal
built environment, public and private places and spaces, and private and intimate spaces” as requested and on the
capability that the same space has in terms of new relations and new possible arrangements
