His father, James Adams, along with his uncle, Arthur Adams, were members of the first graduating class of the college. Adams describes his familial ties to the college, now Oklahoma State University (OSU), and his time as a student there. He recalls having his education interrupted by World War II and returning to college after completing his military service.
