The Complete Muhammad Ali
Including material and photographs not included in most of the 100 other books about the champion, Ishmael Reed's The Complete Muhammad Ali is more than just a biography-it is a fascinating portrait of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. An honest, balanced portrayal of Ali, the book includes voices that have been omitted from other books. It charts Ali's evolution from Black Nationalism to a universalism, but does not discount the Nation of Islam and Black Nationalism's important influence on his intellectual development. Filipino American author Emil Guillermo speaks about how "The Thrilla' In Manila" brought the Philippines into the 20th century. Fans of Muhammad Ali, boxing fans, and those interested in modern African American history and the Nation of Islam will be fascinated by this biography by an accomplished American author.Intro -- DEDICATION -- INTRODUCTION -- The Curious History of an Icon -- CHAPTER 1 -- CHAPTER 2 -- CHAPTER 3 -- CHAPTER 4 -- CHAPTER 5 -- CHAPTER 6 -- CHAPTER 7 -- Did the Secret Government Fear a U.S. Muslim/Overseas Muslim Alliance? -- CHAPTER 8 -- CHAPTER 9 -- The Break Between the Prophet and his Disciple -- CHAPTER 10 -- CHAPTER 11 -- CHAPTER 12 -- The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time): Ali or Louis? -- CHAPTER 13 -- The Nation of Islam, the Mob, Showdowns in Canada and Sonny Liston -- CHAPTER 14 -- CHAPTER 15 -- The Taunts: Marketing or Racism? -- CHAPTER 16 -- CHAPTER 17 -- CHAPTER 18 -- CHAPTER 19 -- Boxing and the Brain -- CHAPTER 20 -- Ali's Feet -- CHAPTER 21 -- Mr. Dick -- CHAPTER 22 -- CHAPTER 23 -- The Opening Ceremonies, November 2005 -- CHAPTER 24 -- December 2005, Las Vegas -- CHAPTER 25 -- CHAPTER 26 -- June 16, 2004 -- CHAPTER 27 -- CHAPTER 28 -- CHAPTER 29 -- Aix-en-Provence -- CHAPTER 30 -- Ali as a Black Nationalist -- San Francisco, January 2004 Black Liberation Book Fair -- CHAPTER 31 -- January 31, 2004 -- CHAPTER 32 -- October 2005, Chicago -- CHAPTER 33 -- Why Ali remained with Elijah instead of following Malcolm -- CHAPTER 34 -- CHAPTER 35 -- February 4, 2006, Oakland, California -- CHAPTER 36 -- Like Zeus Descending from Mount Olympus -- CHAPTER 37 -- CHAPTER 38 -- Tuesday, February 28, 2006, New York -- CHAPTER 39 -- Bigger Than Boxing -- CHAPTER 40 -- Tribes Gallery, New York, April 2006 -- CHAPTER 41 -- June 2006, Louisville, Kentucky -- CHAPTER 42 -- CHAPTER 43 -- CHAPTER 45 -- Bad Company -- CHAPTER 46 -- Coxson, A Very Charming Rogue -- CHAPTER 47 -- Ali and the largest embezzlement scheme in Wells Fargo history -- CHAPTER 48 -- CHAPTER 49 -- "Lonnie is a stabilizing force."-Harry Belafonte -- October 29, 2006 -- CHAPTER 50 -- Abdul Rahman -- CHAPTER 51 -- CHAPTER 52 -- CHAPTER 53How Will Ali Be Remembered? An analytical study of the theatre of the Syrian playwright Saadallah Wannous, with particular emphasis on the plays written after the 1967 war
This study is an examination of the life and work of
the Syrian dramatist Saadallah Wannous (1941-1997). Wannous's name is virtually unknown in the West; only two academic studies of any significance have appeared in English on this eminent and challenging writer, who was honoured by UNESCO at the end of his life. Even in the Arab world his standing rests largely upon his celebrity as a cultural icon, since professional performances of his plays are rare due to the decline of the theatre in the region, and little attention has been devoted to theatre studies by Arab academics. The two studies in English do not attempt to be comprehensive but focus on particular stages of Wannous's career. This study is, therefore, the first to encompass the full range of Wannous's work. To do so it combines an account of his life which seeks to comprehend the various forces that shaped his thinking with an analysis of his dramatic works. The study concentrates on the plays written in the years following the trauma inflicted on the Arab world by the catastrophe of their
defeat in the Arab-Israeli war of June, 1967. Wannous's career can be divided into three phases: the immature plays of his young manhood which are influenced by European models and generally focus on the social condition of the individual; his middle period - the `theatre of politicisation', when his Marxist politics were the main
factor shaping his drama; and his late works, which are characterised by an extraordinary freedom of thought and expression. The introduction places Wannous in his historical and sociocultural context and provides a brief background explaining the literary and theatrical traditions of the Arab world that influenced his activity as a dramatist. Each phase is then examined in turn and the plays are analysed in accordance with the focus of the study. This means that emphasis is given to the middle period,
but no significant work is neglected. The study aims to trace the trajectory of Wannous's development using a
variety of sources: the plays themselves, Wannous's own journalism and critical writings, interviews with his widow, his friends and colleagues, and numerous
journals, books and articles, some of which contain
important interviews with Wannous that shed light on his thought and ways of working. Use is also made of the
two studies mentioned above. The study shows that Wannous's theatre was influenced by the key political, social and cultural developments of his time, and that he
constantly sought to find forms that would express those transformations in dramatic terms

Syriac-Arabic Glosses of Isho bar Ali. Volume 2
These two volumes constitute the second part (nun-taw) of the Syriac-Arabic dictionary of the 10th cent. physician Isho bar Ali (the first half of the dictionary had been published in 1874 by G. Hoffmann). Each Syriac word is defined in Arabic, often with more than one Arabic equivalent; in addition, the author deals not just with individual Syriac words, but in some cases with phrases. Gottheil used 21 manuscripts (from Oxford, London, Paris, Berlin, Leiden, and Rome) for this edition, and he has supplied a thorough critical apparatus; the manuscripts are described in the introduction. While some manuscripts give the Arabic glosses in Syriac characters (i.e. Garshuni), Gottheil has presented them here in Arabic script. These two volumes will be of great interest to Syriac lexicographers and those who study interactions between Syriac and Arabic.Contains an English introduction by Richard J.H. Gotthei

Design and Analysis of Secure Digital Twin Architecture
A Master of Science thesis in Computer Engineering by Eman Shaikh entitled, “Design and Analysis of Secure Digital Twin Architecture”, submitted in June 2022. Thesis advisor is Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ali and thesis co-advisor is Dr. Nazeeruddin Mohammad. Soft copy is available (Thesis, Completion Certificate, Approval Signatures, and AUS Archives Consent Form). In recent years, Digital Twin has been gaining popularity in various smart city applications like smart manufacturing, smart energy, smart mobility, and smart healthcare. Digital Twin in simple term, can be described as a virtual replica of a given physical product, system, or process. It comprises of three major components: the object entity, data acquisition unit and the virtual counterpart. The virtual entity is a cloud-based layer that performs data analytic and visualization. The data analytic utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms that help in predictive maintenance, optimization, and improved productivity. While the collected data from the physical domain layer is transmitted, exchanged, and processed at the virtual domain and application layers, it will be exposed to several security attacks. Nevertheless, just like any emerging technology, several research studies have been conducted over the implementation of Digital Twin in many smart city applications without paying enough attention in developing a model that comprises of the security attacks, analysis, and remedies. Therefore, the objective of this thesis is to propose a secure Digital Twin multi-layer architecture for the attacks that can occur in each layer. It also proposes and implements a Probabilistic Model Checking (PMC) based approach to assess the Digital Twin security. The proposed model will be used to analyse the probability of success, as well as the cost for a variety of potential attacks that can occur in the Digital Twin architecture. To assess the proposed solution, a case study on an application of Digital Twin in healthcare will be considered.College of EngineeringDepartment of Computer Science and EngineeringMaster of Science in Computer Engineering (MSCoE
Machine Learning-Based Approach for EV Charging Behavior
A Master of Science thesis in Computer Engineering by Sakib Shahriar entitled, “Machine Learning-Based Approach for EV Charging Behavior”, submitted in April 2021. Thesis advisor is Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ali and thesis co-advisor is Dr. Ahmed Osman-Ahmed. Soft copy is available (Thesis, Completion Certificate, Approval Signatures, and AUS Archives Consent Form). As smart city applications are moving from conceptual models to the development phase, smart transportation, of smart cities’ applications, is gaining ground nowadays. Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered to be one of the major pillars of smart transportation. EVs are ever-growing in popularity due to their potential contribution in reducing dependency on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. However, large-scale deployment of EV charging stations poses multiple challenges to the power grid and public infrastructure. The solution to this problem lies in the utilization of scheduling algorithms to better manage the growing public charging demand. Modeling EV charging behavior using data-driven tools and machine learning algorithms can improve scheduling algorithms. Researchers have focused on using historical charging data for predictions of behaviors such as departure time and energy needs. However, variables such as weather, traffic, and nearby events, which have been neglected to a large extent, can perhaps add meaningful representations, and provide more accurate predictions. Therefore, in this thesis we propose the usage of historical charging data in conjunction with the weather, traffic, and events data to predict EV departure time and energy consumption. Several popular machine learning algorithms including random forest, support vector machine, XGBoost, and deep neural networks are investigated. The best predictive performance is achieved by an ensemble-learning model, which improves upon the existing works in the literature with SMAPES of 9.9% and 11.6% for session duration and energy consumptions, respectively. In both predictions, we demonstrate a significant improvement compared to previous work on the same dataset and we highlight the importance of traffic and weather information for charging behavior predictions.College of EngineeringDepartment of Computer Science and EngineeringMaster of Science in Computer Engineering (MSCoE
Healthcare workers' perceptions of disaster risk management in Saudi Arabia hospitals
This study examines the effectiveness of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) strategies in public hospitals across Saudi Arabia, focusing on the perspectives of healthcare workers (HCWs), such as doctors, nurses, and administrators. Despite Saudi Arabia's significant DRM efforts, an empirical assessment of their effectiveness, particularly from the frontline workers, is still needed to identify potential areas of improvement. The inherent subjectivity and potential biases in risk perception notwithstanding, these findings could guide future policy improvements. A cross-sectional study was conducted using a descriptive, quantitative, non-probability sampling method among HCWs in 22 public hospitals across four regions of Saudi Arabia: Eastern, Western, Southern, and Central. These hospitals were selected based on their size, range of services, and geographical diversity. The HCWs were asked to evaluate the four DRM phases—Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery—through questionnaires administered via Qualtrics and distributed via email and WhatsApp. Data analysis was performed using SPSS. The results indicated that the majority of HCWs perceive the DRM strategies as efficient, with disaster mitigation and response strategies being viewed as more effective than preparedness and recovery strategies. The study also revealed significant regional differences in perceived effectiveness of DRM strategies, with HCWs in the central region perceiving their strategies as more effective, particularly in disaster mitigation and preparedness, than their counterparts in the other regions. This study offers novel insights into HCWs' perspectives on DRM in Saudi public hospitals. Despite the overall positive perception of DRM strategies, the regional disparities underscore the need for harmonized and improved disaster risk management practices. Future research should focus on understanding the factors behind these regional differences to develop interventions that strengthen disaster preparedness and response strategies nationwide
