The Oman Accreditation Council (OAC), which is called later the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), designed a higher education institution (HEI) Quality Assurance (QA) framework for Omani public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), starting with a quality audit process in 2008. The Colleges of Applied Sciences (CASs), as a public HEI, are required to ensure the quality of all services and activities to meet particular national standards (specified in the framework) in order to gain a HEI and programme certificate. In line with a quality audit scope, the quality of the fields of PD and related teaching quality should be ensured and enhanced by the promotion and contribution of the former field to the maintenance and improvement of the latter one. The chief purpose of this study was to identify the uptake and implications of the growing requirement to improve teaching quality and the PD of academics at the CASs in the Sultanate of Oman especially in the context of the application of the QA framework. The study focused on examining the academics’ participation in professional development programmes (PDPs) and current perceptions of PD with respect to the improvement of teaching quality improvement at these colleges. The current study also dealt with a reorganization and prioritization of academics’ PD needs, barriers to effective PD, and factors to enhance PD of academics regarding teaching quality improvement in the colleges. Based on the purpose and research objectives, the current study adopted both positivist (quantitative) and interpretive (qualitative) research paradigms. Because the study perused quantitative and qualitative data regarding certain variables, it chose a mixed-research design. The researcher designed survey questionnaire to collect quantitative data and a semi-structured interview and a focus group discussion to probe and interpret quantitative findings. After fulfillment of the validity and reliability measurements, a self-completion questionnaire was distributed to a stratified random sample of academics (170) over the six CASs. A total of 150 questionnaires (out of 170) were completed and returned and the response-rate reached 88.2%. The quantitative data was analyzed by appropriate analysis using the Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS), while the qualitative data was analyzed by appropriate qualitative analysis. The findings of the study showed that the level of academics’ participation in PDPs to improve teaching quality in the last two years in the CASs seems to be unsatisfactorily low. The current perceptions of the PD situations in the colleges, relating to teaching quality improvement, signified a shortage in the number of available PDPs and/or a discouragement of academics’ participation in these programmes in the last two years. The study also revealed all the 22 PD needs of academics regarding the improvement of teaching quality are significantly demanded by participants; the higher rated needs focused on a development of ‘student centred’ skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, the study illustrated that the highest significant perceived barriers to effective PD in the CASs, as related to teaching quality improvement, focus on a lack of a clear institutional PD policy and a lack of appropriately systematic PD plans. The study also revealed all 10 perceived factors to enhance PD regarding teaching quality improvement are very important. The most significant factors represented and stressed particular problematic issues (the high rated barriers) and a reduction of a heavy workload to enhance academics’ participation in PD regarding the improvement of teaching quality. Conclusions drawn from the discussion of the findings of study include a lack of a clear PD policy at national and institutional levels and absence of a particular authority/unit concerning PD issues in Omani HEIs. The two problematic issues resulted in a lack of systematic and realistic PD plans in the CASs, involving a lack of academics’ involvement in PD plans, a misconnection of academics’ PD needs to PD, inappropriate facilities and resources allocation, and inappropriate evaluation processes of PD. In addition, the conclusions also include that PD of academics regarding the improvement of teaching quality in the colleges requires more attention and focus to manage particular significant issues perceived by participants as both barriers and potential facilitators relating to PD of academics. Based on identified conclusions, particular implications for policy and practice to enhance PD to improve teaching quality were set at three levels: governmental, institutional, and individual. Moreover, achievements of the current study according to the research questions were identified and contributions of the study to the fields of PD, teaching quality, and the context of QA and quality audit in HE were addressed. Based on the findings and conclusions, particular directions and recommended issues were suggested to be studied by further research to benefit the enhancement of PD and related teaching quality improvement

EVALUATION OF NEUROSENSORY RECOVERY IN INFRAORBITAL AND INFERIOR ALVEOLAR NERVE IMPAIRMENTS AFTER MAXILLOFACIAL FRACTURES: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

    Get PDF
Background and aims: FSR has a substantial impact on patients' quality of life, but it is yet unknown how age, gender, repair timing, and surgical methods affect this. Optimizing surgical methods and enhancing clinical results depend on closing this knowledge gap. By looking at these factors, this study aims to offer evidence-based recommendations to direct patient treatment and improve recuperation techniques. Assessing the results of sensory neurological recovery in individuals with impairments in the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and infraorbital nerve (ION) after mandibular and zygomatico-maxillary complex (ZMC) fractures was the goal of this investigation. Methods: The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) criteria were followed in conducting a systematic review. Age, sex, time from damage to repair, and repair method were prognostic factors. All reviews, animal studies, research papers published before 2014, and those without full-text access were excluded. On February 25, 2025, electronic searches were conducted in the Cochrane Library, PubMed, and Scopus databases. Results: The analysis included a comprehensive dataset of 3491 patients, with a mean age of 34.25 years. The primary causes of fractures were traffic accidents (58.65 %), falls (20.56%), and assaults (20.79%). Treatment methods included open reduction (72.70%), closed reduction (7.27%), and conservative treatment (20.03%). Recovery outcomes indicated an overall recovery rate of 73.23%, with a mean follow-up duration of 186.5 days. The results were equal in both sexes, with higher rates in open reduction and early inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) repair. Conclusions: Recovery outcomes indicated a high recovery rate, equally observed in both sexes, with higher rates for open reduction and early inferior alveolar nerve repair. The study emphasizes the critical role of treatment modalities and timing in influencing neurosensory recovery and calls for the adoption of standardized treatment protocols and expanded follow-up care. To validate these results and enhance clinical guidelines, more excellent research is required.                     Peer Review History: Received 11 June 2025;   Reviewed 14 July 2025; Accepted 19 August; Available online 15 September 2025 Academic Editor: Dr. Iman Muhammad Higazy, National Research Center, Egypt, [email protected] Reviewers: Dr. Branislav Ranković, University of Kragujevac, Serbia, [email protected] Dr. Cecilia Nwadiuto Amadi, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt Rivers State, Nigeria, [email protected]

Note from the correspondent author: This paper was conducted as a teamwork assignment under the supervision of the correspondent author Assistant Prof. Dr. Mohammed Baker Mohammed Al-Abbas during    the undergraduate course INTRODUCTION TO ART part of Visual Arts Bachelor Degree Program. Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the painting practices of the Omani artist Alai Al-Farsi in connecting feminine, cultural and Arab influences in her artworks. And to reveal the significance of such connections with contemporary Arab art from global perspectives in delivering cultural connotations. The present study contributes to visual arts research through further understanding of women's creativity according to cultural developments in Arab countries. The main outcomes of this research reveal the practices of contemporary Arab artists in selecting their subjects to express aesthetic thoughts addressing the cultural concerns of common people. Artists manipulate their artistic practices into the exhibition's spaces to resemble cultural identities in their artworks and endeavor to establish an advanced understanding of the contemporary visual cultures in the local Arab communities. In this case, they reflect on feminism, and they bring feminine subjects as well as assorted ideas that provide a more comprehensive range of iconographies to represent women and their belongings. The artistic representations of women in the painting practice show human dimensions and draw into consideration many cultural components to interpret and analyze the artwork. This investigation concentrated on the visual culture issues expressed by the Omani artist Alia Al-Farsi in her contemporary artworks. Also, the study utilizes the methodology of qualitative analysis to investigate the layers and the elements of feminine iconographies in the Arab contemporary arts to unveil the connections between being a woman, being an artist, and being an Arab. The significance of this critique rests on the objective outcome that reflects women-made art as feminine, cultural, folkloric and social. Nevertheless, the practices, themes, and activities create the feminine aesthetics connected through concurrent art practices manifested in global art functions. Get PDF
In the latest years there has been a profound evolution in computer science and technology, which incorporated several fields. Under this evolution, Content Base Image Retrieval (CBIR) is among the image processing field. There are several image retrieval methods that can easily extract feature as a result of the image retrieval methods’ progresses. To the researchers, finding resourceful image retrieval devices has therefore become an extensive area of concern. Image retrieval technique refers to a system used to search and retrieve images from digital images’ huge database. In this paper, the author focuses on recommendation of a fresh method for retrieving image. For multi presentation of image in Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Convolutional Neural Network - Slanlet Transform (CNN-SLT) model uses Slanlet Transform (SLT). The CBIR system was therefore inspected and the outcomes benchmarked. The results clearly illustrate that generally, the recommended technique outdid the rest with accuracy of 89 percent out of the three datasets that were applied in our experiments. This remarkable performance clearly illustrated that the CNN-SLT method worked well for all three datasets, where the previous phase (CNN) and the successive phase (CNN-SLT) harmoniously worked together

This is the Master Degree thesis titled Ijabatassaail sharh bughyatu alaamil Nadhmul Kafil in the fundamental principles of Fiqh by Ibn Alamir Alsana’ani, a study and verification from the third chapter to the end of the book. This book is regarded as one of the important books written by Ibn Alamir Al-Sana’ani in the Fundamental Principles of Fiqh. Because seekers of Islamic knowledge need to know Ibn Alamir’s fundamental opinions, his position and scientific capacity, his methodology and issues in this book, I have provided this verification of this part of this book. After the introduction, the dissertation involved two sections and a conclusion. In the introduction, I mentioned the motivation behind writing this research, and its objectives, significance and presentation and the questions it answers. The first section which is the study includes a prelude and a two chapters where the researcher gave an overview about the period of the author, his life and knowledge, his upbringing, plights he faced, his teachers, students, his writings, his strives, position, and his methodology in this book. The second section which is the verification involves two chapters where the researcher offers the resources of the author and authenticity of relating the book to him, the books manuscripts. Also, the researcher presented his methodology in verifying the book. He provided the previous studies and their methodologies in verification and their positions of weakness. Then, he started verifying the text of the book which contains eight sections and a conclusion about penalties. He began with the third section about implicit and explicit, and ended with the preferred and sound. He found the following results: Ibn Alamir is the first scholar in his time who spread the school of adhering to evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah in Yemen, excelled his peers in the fundamental Principles of Fiqh, was concerned with rectifying the Zaydi School of Law and freeing it from reprehensible imitation and intolerance and that he enjoyed a well-established personality in his knowledge, Dawah and comprehension of the reality, free from intolerance and reprehensible imitation and obtained the highest position of Ijtihad

Class V cavities in the buccal and lingual aspects of human posterior teeth were acid etched and restored in one of two ways. In the extended primer technique, the UV polymerized primer coat was extended 2-3 mm beyond the cavity, then finished back. In the butt-joint technique, the primer coat was extended to just below the cavosurface line angle. Eight specimens for each technique were prepared and tested. A surface micro-analyzer capable of detecting one microinch surface roughness was used to determine the variance in marginal smoothness; margins were also examined using a scanning electron microscope. No statistical difference in smoothness was detected between the two techniquesCorresponding Author: Hamdi Mohammed-Al Tahawi Professor, and Head, Division of Dental Materials, Department of Removable Prosthodontics, King Saud University, College of Dentistry, P.O.
