The Impact of Text Representation and Preprocessing on Author Identification

    No full text
Author identification, one of the popular topics in text classification and natural language processing, basically aims to determine the author of a given text through various analyses. In the literature, different text representation approaches and use of preprocessing steps are considered for author identification problem. This paper aims to comprehensively examine the impact of text representation and preprocessing steps on author identification specifically for Turkish language. For this purpose, the contributions of all possible combinations of different text representation approaches, namely unigram and bigram, together with the preprocessing tasks, including stemming and stop-word removal, to the performance of author identification are investigated. For the experimental evaluation, a brand new dataset is constituted. Also, two different classification algorithms, namely Multinomial Naive Bayes and Sequential Minimal Optimization, are employed. The results of the experimental analysis reveal that using bigram features alone should be avoided. Besides, it is shown that stop-words should be kept inside the text while stemming can be preferred depending on the classification algorithm so that higher performance can be achieved for author identification.Author identification, one of the popular topics in text classification and natural language processing, basically aims to determine the author of a given text through various analyses. BACKGROUND: Several studies demonstrate that both external oblique intercostal block (EOIB) and modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) contribute to analgesia in the anterior abdomen by targeting the thoracoabdominal nerves through distinct pathways. However, the sensory assessment and dermatomal analysis remain poorly understood. METHODS: This prospective observational study aimed to determine the sensory assessment and dermatomal regression rate of EOIB and M-TAPAin patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study included a total of 24 patients, with 12 patients in each group. Blocks were performed bilaterally, administering 25 mLof bupivacaine 0.25% for each side, resulting in a total volume of 50 mL. The anterior abdominal wall was vertically partitioned into the midabdomen, left-lateral abdomen, and right-lateral abdomen, and horizontally divided into the epigastric, umbilical, and hypogastric regions. Sensory block was assessed at the 45th minute with cold stimulus and pinprick. Subsequent evaluations were at intervals of 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, and 24 hours. RESULTS: The blocked area percentile with cold sensation in the anterior abdomen was 43.07% (36.67-55.74) with EOIB, 40.49% (34.05-43.67) with M-TAPA(P=0.3219). When the region above the intertubercular plane was examined with cold sensation, EOIB covered 55.92% (46.75-62.07), and M-TAPAcovered 49.60% (40.39-54.03) of the epigastric and umbilical areas. Assessment of the midabdominal portion of the anterior abdomen revealed that the blocked area percentile was statistically significantly higher in the M-TAPA group with both cold sensation and pinprick. At 45 minutes, the percentage of blocked dermatomes was 100% between T7-T8 in the EOIB group and between T7-T10 in the M-TAPAgroup. Both groups exhibited lower success rates in dermatomes T5 and T12, with no sensory block within the L1 dermatome, and cutaneous dermatomal block status either absent or negligible after 24 hours. All trocar entries were located within the cutaneous sensory block for both blocks, except for trocar C, which was located most laterally. CONCLUSIONS: Bilateral EOIB and M-TAPAproduce a comparable sensory cutaneous block in the anterior abdomen, particularly in the umbilical and epigastric regions. Additionally, the midabdominal cutaneous blocked area was greater in patients undergoing M-TAPA, suggesting a more consistent distribution along the anterior cutaneous branches of the thoracoabdominal nerves

Çalışmamız YouTube video paylaşım platformunda bulunan hemipleji egzersiz videolarının içeriklerinin incelenmesi ve kalitelerinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Çalışmada 'hemiplegia exercises', 'hemiplegia rehabilitation' ve 'hemiplegia physiotheraphy' anahtar kelimeleriyle taranan 180 video değerlendirildi. Çalışmaya İngilizce dilinde ve anlamlı ses bulunan 37 video dahil edildi. Videoların süresi, yayınlandığı tarihten itibaren geçen süre, video güç endeksi, beğeni sayısı, beğenmeme sayısı, kaynağı, yorum sayısı, görüntülenme sayısı ve görüntülenme oranı kaydedildi. Videoların kaliteleri Global Quality Scale (GQS), güvenilirlikleri Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) kullanılarak mesleki tecrübelerine farklı üç fizyoterapist (Fizyoterapist 1 (3 yıl), fizyoterapist 2 (5 yıl), fizyoterapist (10 yıl)) tarafından değerlendirildi. Anahtar kelimeler: YouTube, Hemipleji, Egzersiz, İçerik, GüvenilirlikOur study was carried out in order to examine the content of hemiplegia exercise videos on the YouTube video sharing platform and to evaluate their quality. In the study, 180 videos scanned with the keywords 'hemiplegia exercises', 'hemiplegia rehabilitation' and 'hemiplegia physiotheraphy' were evaluated. 37 videos which are in English with meaningful audio were included in the study. For each video duration, to the length of time since its publication, video power index, number of likes, number of dislikes, source, number of comments, number of views and view rate were recorded. The quality of the videos was evaluated via the Global Quality Scale (GQS) and the videos' reliability via the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) by three physiotherapists having different professional experiences. ( physiotherapist 1 (3 years), physiotherapist 2 (5 years), and physiotherapist 3 (10 years)). According to the GQS, the videos were separeted into 2 groups as low, medium and high quality. According to the sources who uploaded the videos, they were divided into 2 different categories. In addition, the correlation level of the JAMA and GQS scores given by the evaluators was checked. As a result of the study, 43.24% of the videos were found to be low quality, 56.75% medium quality and high quality. It was seen that quality of all videos (GQS) median is 3 (1-4), which is high, and the reliability of all videos (JAMA) median is 2 (0-4), which is low. In the validity of the giving answers for the GQS and JAMA scores inter evaluators, ICC=0,766 and ICC=0,793 were founded high. The number of the comments in the videos, which have high and medium quality, the physiotherapist 2's GQS score (p=0,023 is high considering the low quality videos. The physiotherapist 2 JAMA score (p=0,001), and the number of comments on the videos, which were loaded by physiotherapists, are high considering the sources, however, the elapsed time after the video loading (p=0,001) is low. There was no significant difference between the other parameters of the videos (p>0.05). YouTube Hemiplegia exercise videos have low reliability and may not be appropriate as a reliable source for patients. Healthcare professionals are required to publish videos that meet GQS and JAMA, and YouTube is required to publish videos with filtering. Keywords: YouTube, Hemiplegia, Exercise, Content, Reliabilit

Computing reliability indices of repairable systems via signature

Eryilmaz, Serkan/0000-0002-2108-1781The purpose of this paper is to show the usefulness of system signature for computing some important reliability indices of repairable systems. In particular, we obtain signature-based expressions for stationary availability, rate of occurrence of failure, and mean time to the first failure of repairable systems. Using these expressions we compute corresponding reliability indices of all systems with three and four components. Computational results are also presented for consecutive-k-within-m-out-of-n:F and m-consecutive-k-out-of-n:F systems. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V.
