Il Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment per la valutazione della sostenibilità aziendale
This paper aims to analyze a method of analysis that highlights the results of the evaluation global sustainability, understood as environmental sustainability, but also economic and social, remains today a subject to be fully developed.
The application of the related tools for the realization of a model adaptable to strategies and management of sustainability in general and, in particular enterprise, based on Life Cycle Thinking represent the point of departure for the entire developed, which is proposed as the ultimate goal, the analysis of the methodology and instruments through the application to a case studyThe research work has been summarized into four chapters.
In the first chapter summarized the path of research done during the PhD, the evolution of the research program carried out and starting points.
The second chapter analyzes the approach to Life Cycle Thinking and Innovation made by it in view of the sustainability indicators, through a careful literature review and analysis of the development and dissemination of the approach
theoretical.
In the third chapter, however, described and analyzed in the analysis tools
prospect of application of the three pivotal Life cycle assessment tools, social -
LCA and Life Cycle Costing in the global vision of the Life Cycle Sustainability
Assessment.
Finally, in the fourth chapter is proposed to apply the whole methodology to
a case study. The case does not qualify as a tourist service for this
in the chapter is an introduction to the proposed sustainable tourism and a study
the art of the application of the methodology to the field with practical application to a structure
The word carbon footprint has become well known and very popular in recent years not only in the world
Scientific. This growing public attention to environmental issues has
led companies to focus attention toward a new category of consumers, the so-called "Green
Consumer, "and implement communication strategies of their own sustainability. Among the reasons why the
Carbon Footprint is notoriously widespread in less time compared to the analysis of LCA complete, there are
the greater ease in calculation and the best effectiveness of communication. The objective of this research is to
identify the causes and the consequences of any links in the spread of the Carbon Footprint and
Consuming the Green, highlighting in a SWOT analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of their bond and
focusing on the opportunities and threats associated
Analysis of Sustainability Based on Life Cycle Assessment: An Empirical Study of Wine Production
"The environmental planning and the current policy initiatives in European Union are aimed at continuous improvement of. the productive fabric, heading toward a system in which the “quality” of products will no longer regardless of their environmental. impacts. In this context, the methodology of LCA (life cycle assessment) is certainly one of the most innovative methods in the field. of environmental protection as it allows evaluating the environmental burdens associated with a product, process or activity by. identifying and quantifying material and energy consumption and environmental emissions. The objectives focus on finding the main. impacts of the wine life cycle, as well as identifying crucial activities\/stages in the wine production which establish the largest. impacts. This paper’s objective is to expose the advantages resulting from the use of the LCA method in the wine production sector,. with a specific application to wine production in the Tuscany region.
Social LCA: a framework for social impacts assessment in Italian wine sector
Wine sector performs economic functions as well as social and environmental functions. Recently, Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) methodology was developed in order to assess real or potential social impacts produced in different life cycle stages. This work proposes a set of indicators to assess social impacts produced by the Italian wine sector scenario, considering the stakeholder categories identified by UNEP/SETAC (2009). Stakeholder categories and subcategories of impacts are identified and classified according to the Methodological Sheets Scheme produced by UNEP/SETA
“Eco -innovation and green economy: the role of sustainability life cycle assessment”
"In recent years, economic growth has been accompanied by growing sensitivity to environmental problems, the problem of energy security and scarcity of nonrenewable natural resources. Innovation has been seen as central to economic performance and social welfare; it is increasingly recognized as a significant driver of economic. This is the context of the life cycle thinking. As we know, Life cycle thinking and Life Cycle Assessment are scientific approaches behind a growing number of environmental policies and business decision support in the context of Sustainability consumption and Production (SPC). The environmental base is supported by Life Cycle Assessment by the international standardized tool (ISO 14040 and ISO 14044) for integrated assessment for goods and services. Sustainability Life Cycle Assessment is a set of tools to analyze the sustainability of a business under different economic, social and environmental. The tools of sustainability can be considered tools of organizational innovation and management to support business decisions. The aims of this work is to give an overview about the current state of sustainability policies implemented in Italian companies emphasizing the prospects for future application. The analysis was carried out comparing the performance data collected through the company accounts of a sample of companies by comparing the performance improvements after the application of LCA and developing forecasts of performance improvement after applying the tools of sustainability.
Modeling Social Life Cycle Assessment framework for the Italian wine sector
Further consolidation of Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA) are necessary. In recent years the publication of case studies on SLCA increased in order to avoid the risk of developing an unfeasible methodology. The lack of a standard entailed the development of several approaches in applying SLCA.
The object of the present research is to set a SLCA analysis that faithfully reproduces the Guidelines settings, integrating them with the improvements and additions proposed by scholars in previous works. The application sector chosen is the Italian wine sector mainly characterized by SMEs and family-owned businesses.
It was modelled a conceptual framework defining the stakeholders' categories, the related impact categories and indicators. It emerged the necessity to further develop impact subcategories to assess the contribution of the production to the local area reputation and the socio-economic impact on consumers in terms of product quality.
The present study wants to supply a theoretical basis for practical applications in wine sector in Italy that could be generalized as a starting point for SLCA application in other agri-food sector
