Oxidative stress in alcoholic liver disease
A large body of clinical and experimental studies implicates free radical mechanisms in the pathogenesis of alcoholic liver disease (ALD). Ethanol-induced oxidative stress is the results of the combined impairment of antioxidant defenses and the stimulation of reac¬tive oxygen species (ROS) production by the mitochondrial electron transport chain, the alcohol-inducible cytochrome P4502E1 (CYP2E1) and activated phagocytes. Furthermore, hydroxyethyl free radicals (HER) are also generated during ethanol metabolism by CYP2E1. The mechanisms by which oxidative stress contributes to alcohol toxicity involve mitochondrial permeability transition, endoplasmic reticulum stress and impairment of hepatocyte pro-survival signals. Moreover, oxidative mechanisms contribute to the stimulation of hepatic inflammation by directly stimulating phagocyte activation and by promoting adaptive immune responses. Finally. oxidative stress favors the evolution of ALD to liver fibrosis by promoting the release of pro-fibrotic cytokines and the activation of hepatic stellate cells. Altogether these observations give a rationale to the possible clinical application of antioxidants in the therapy of ALD
Arti e mestieri nei manifesti funebri napoletani
This paper follows up on two previous studies (Albano Leoni 2015, Albano Leoni e Dovetto 2017) which examined a corpus of approximately 600 photographs of funeral (or obituary) posters appearing in the city and province of Naples, in which the name of the deceased is accompanied by his or her nickname in dialect. The present study focuses on the designations of arts, crafts and trades, frequently used in the nicknames as identifiers. These reveal traces of a parallel social texture and occupational world without equivalent elsewhere in metropolitan Europe and still alive at the outset of the Third Millennium. The archaic features will be analyzed (graunar, cuzzcar), as well as the signs of modernization (carruzziere) and feminine forms (gassusara, purtuallar)

Lake Albano: bathymetry and level changes
Lake Albano is situated in the Colli Albani volcanic district, about 20 km SE of the city
centre of Rome. It is 287 m above sea level and is the deepest of the volcanic crater lakes of Italy,
presently being 167 m deep. It is 3.5 km long and 2.3 km wide with an area of about 6 km2. The
crater has a long history, which starts with the formation of the Albano crater c. 70 ka BP, and
shows evidence of human settlements since pre-historical times. Geological evidence indicates
that a catastrophic overflow of the lake occurred in 398 BCE due to a rapid increase in the
water level. This phenomenon persuaded the Romans to excavate an artificial outlet though the
crater wall to control the lake level. The lake is thought to be a hazard for the surrounding
human settlements and the city of Rome, so high-resolution multibeam bathymetry of Lake
Albano was carried out for the Italian Dipartimento della Protezione Civile in order to evaluate
the potential for CO2 storage and eruption from the lake. The shape of the crater floor was
mapped in two and three dimensions. Here, we show the main submerged morphological features
and a brief history of the changes in lake level, which still affect the basin today.Published229-2441.3. TTC - Sorveglianza geodetica delle aree vulcaniche attivereserve

Introduction
Contexts and Plurality in Phraseology: Didactics, Learning and Translation is a volume that aims to compare a diversity of approaches to phraseology: diversity both from a disciplinary point of view and from a diatopic point of view. Indeed, on one side, the themes of this book are related to phraseology and, in particular, to the learning and the didactics of phraseology, to the relationship between translation and didactics, and to the treatment of
phraseology in languages for specific purposes. On the other side, the authors focus their phraseological research on different languages and sometimes compare them, arriving at applicational and epistemological observations.
From the meeting of these two points of view, the axes of reflection on which this volume is based concern the systematic presence of phraseological expressions and their
reproducibility in the functioning of language, and an idiomaticity that reveals specific cultural content in the contrastive encounter between two or more languages
