In recent years, epidemiological studies confirm the significant impact on human health by infections caused by pathogenic fungi. In fact, although the Candida genus is commensal and a constituent of the normal gut flora, it is responsible for opportunistic infections and can become pathogenic secondary to predisposing factors related to the host, like a comprimised immune system (AIDS, anti-cancer therapy, transplants), excessive prophylaxis with antimicrobial agents, and use of invasive catheters. Large-scale surveillance for fungal infections has demonstrated an increasing incidence of drug-resistant fungal pathogens. As a matter of fact, a significant number of fungi species (especially Candida glabrata and Candida krusei) exhibited primary resistance to Fluconazole or were less susceptible to Amphotericin B.
Furthermore, as a consequence of the toxicity of the currently used polyene antifungal drugs, which leads to interrupt the therapy, and the emergence of Candida species resistance to azole-based agents, there is an urgent need for developing alternative drug therapies.
In our previous study we have disclosed the synthesis and antifungal activity of a series of 4-nitrosopyrazoles that mainly displayed in vitro potent antifungal activity at no cytotoxic concentrations and that some of these compounds were 4 times more potent than Amphotericine B and Fluconazole respectively against Cryptococcus neoformans and Candida Krusei [1-4]
As part of our Structure Activity Relationships studies, we were interested in learning the influence of the steric and electronic effects of the substituent in position 5 of the 4-nitrosopyrazoles which had already showed powerful antimycotic activity.
Therefore, we synthetized title compounds and evaluated their antimycotic activity (fig1).

The 5-carboxiethylester group has made the antimycotic actity dramatically decay, confirming the necessity, for a good antimicotic activity, of derivatives in which the position 5 is free or substituted with little groups as a methyl shown the best antifungal activity.

On spectral measures for certain unitary representations of R. Thompson's group F
The Hilbert space H of backward renormalisation of an anyonic quantum spin chain affords a unitary representation of Thompson’s group F via local scale transformations. The group F is discrete and mysterious in many ways so the obvious questions of irreducibility and distinctness of these representations appear difficult and in a first step towards solving them we calculate the spectral measures of group elements in the representation. Given a vector in the canonical dense subspace of H we calculate the corresponding spectral measure and illustrate with some examples. To do this calculation we introduce the “essential part” (intimately related to the conjugacy class) of an element. The spectral measure for any vector in H is, apart from possibly finitely many eigenvalues, absolutely continuous with respect to
Lebesgue measure. The same considerations and results hold for the Brown-Thompson groups Fn (for which F = F2)
This paper reports on field research carried out as part of a Project of National Interest (PRIN) entitled “Mobility - Stabilisation. Congolese representations and social dynamics, in Congo and in the global space”, funded for the period 2017-2020 by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. Flavia Aiello and Roberto Gaudioso present unpublished texts by Patrick Mudekereza whom they met in Lubumbashi in 2018. Mudekereza never published his poems in poetry collections, considering his writing essentially as a practice associated with his work dedicated to art. Engaged in several forms of writing, both creative and discursive (the latter in French or English), the artist from Lubumbashi seems to have a very particular and intimate relationship with poetry, which he practises intermittently and of which he does not keep track systematically. In this article we will analyse six texts, three of which (Funga macho liya, Pima tuyambe and Langues) were composed during the work of the writers’ collective Libr’Écrire born in Lubumbashi in 2007; two are undated (Buzuri tele and Mu pori ya binvuri [In the Wood of Shadows]), and one (Mankamanshi>Mboleo [Snot>Fertilising]) is dated 13 February 2018. Three of these poetic compositions are bi/multilingual, in French, Swahili and Lingala (Funga macho liya, Langues, Mankamanshi>Mboleo), the others are written in Swahili

Lexicography and language learning of Swahili L2 at UNIOR: the Swahili-Italian online dictionary project
The present essay outlines the progress of a lexicography project, namely a
Swahili-Italian online dictionary, which was developed at the University of Naples
“L’Orientale” (henceforth UNIOR) and conceived as a useful digital tool for Italian
L1 learners of Swahili in a context of renewal of the teaching/learning of Swahili
at the UNIOR, encouraged by web-based distance tools and platforms.
As will be explained in detail, the software of the online lexical database, frst
developed in the period between 2003 and 2009, is in the process of being updated
with some technical and lexicographical improvements, aiming for a resource that
will be increasingly user-friendly to Swahili language students, and in general to
Italian-speaking learners
Stratigraphic and structural styles of half-graben offshore basins in Southern Italy: multichannel seismic and Multibeam morpho-bathymetric evidences on the Salerno Valley (Southern Campania continental margin, Italy)
New results on the seismic stratigraphy and morpho-bathymetry of the Pleistocene sedimentary basin of the
Salerno Valley focused on the regional seismic stratigraphy of the Southern Campania passive continental
margin (Southern Tyrrhenian sea, Italy) are presented here.Original data include Multibeam bathymetry as
well as multichannel and single-channel seismic profiles, recently collected onboard the R/V Urania of the National
Research Council of Italy (oceanographic cruise SISTERII).
The Salerno Valley represents a half-graben sedimentary basin, whose identification has been controlled, during the
Early Pleistocene, by the master fault Capri-Sorrento Peninsula, showing vertical throws of 1500 metres, which
downthrows theMeso-Cenozoic carbonatic acoustic basement under the sedimentary basin. The geologic interpretation
of multichannel seismic profiles has enabled the identification of amain unconformity, located at depths ranging from 3000 to 3500 metres under the sea bottom and correlated to the top of the Meso-Cenozoic carbonatic sequence, extensively cropping out onshore in the Sorrento Peninsula structural high. This unconformity bounds upwards the carbonatic acoustic basement, strongly deformed by normal faulting, and represents the base of the Pleistocene basin filling, the Salerno Valley. The basin filling, with an overall thickness exceeding 1000metres, is characterised by parallel and continuous seismic reflectors alternating with chaotic intervals, having acoustically-transparent seismic facies. The strong synsedimentary tectonics lasting up to Late Pleistocene times in correspondence to NNW-SSE trending listric normal faults triggered gravity mass instability processes, evident as chaotic acoustic intervals intercalated at various stratigraphic levels in the stratigraphic record shown by the multichannel seismic profiles

This article stems from a field research carried out in Lubumbashi in September and October 2018, as part of a national project on contemporary RDC, with a focus on the swahilophone creative expressions. It aims at outlining the poetics of the sing-songwriter Sando Marteau as it springs from his texts in Swahili, within the linguistic and cultural context of Lubumbashi
