The International Journal of Music Education (IJME) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the International Society for Music Education (ISME) four times a year. Manuscripts published are scholarly works, representing empirical research in a variety of modalities. They enhance knowledge regarding the teaching and learning of music with a special interest toward an international constituency.

Psychomusicology: Music, Mind, and Brain® is a registered trademark of American Psychological Association. Psychomusicology: Music, Mind, and Brain ® publishes leading-edge content in the field of music perception, cognition and neuroscience.
The Journal invites authors to submit full-length manuscripts reporting experiments, integrative and evaluative reviews of research, and theoretical papers that are either based on or related to experimental research.
The Journal also welcomes Research Notes which are brief reports of research in progress, methodology, or instrumentation. Commentaries on trends in the field or on material published in the Journal and Letters to the Editor will also be accepted. Translations into English of significant papers otherwise unavailable may be submitted, including a short companion paper contextualizing the work or works. Descriptions of training programs or laboratories specializing in the area of psychomusicology are also welcome.
The Journal may include the titles and abstracts of recent theses. Book reviews will typically be by invitation only, however correspondence regarding a book of interest may be directed to either the Editor or the Book Review Editor

Artigos teóricos, réplicas de estudos já realizados e comentários acerca de temas relevantes também serão considerados. A observação como ferramenta de pesquisa, de ensino e de formação na experiência e na educação musical de crianças e educadores
A observação é uma forma deliberada, organizada e sistemática de “olhar”. Este
trabalho discute a função da observação na pesquisa sobre a musicalidade da criança
e como uma ferramenta para a formação de professores de música. A observação
da experiência sonora da criança é revisada, compreendendo interações musicais
entre criança e adulto, entre os pares, e entre crianças e máquinas. A experiência de
fluxo de crianças pequenas e o uso de software de avaliação também são discutidos.
No contexto da educação musical, a análise de vídeos é uma ferramenta eficiente
para se aprender a observar a conduta musical das crianças. Recursos tecnológicos e
softwares aplicados em protocolos de observação também são analisados.
