At the roots of political legitimacy: rhetoric and persuasion in the use and denial of history
The paper is a study of the rhetoric and the language of persuasion used in written historical documents as well as in everyday political discourse. The author emphasizes that the construction of historical narratives is an interdisciplinary issue, since to be studied it implies the use of the typical tools of Memory Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Media Studies, Sociology and Linguistics
Microbial remediation of petroleum polluted soil
Saabunud / Received 10.05.2022 ; Aktsepteeritud / Accepted 28.07.2022 ; Avaldatud veebis / Published online 28.07.2022 ; Vastutav autor / Corresponding author: Anna Taranenko ; [email protected] issues of land pollution, restoration, and return of land
to agricultural cultivation are today. Especially, this is gaining new
relevance in modern conditions of military action on the territory of
Ukraine and other countries, which causes the reduction of cultivation
areas. Therefore, there is a need for maximum cleaning and restoration of
polluted soils to ensure environmental and food security. Petroleum
hydrocarbons are classified as major environmental pollutants due to their
stability and durability in the environment. The influence of petroleum
hydrocarbons is caused by direct toxic activity and by the soil environment
transformation. The research aimed: to study the effectiveness of probiotics
in the technology of soil cleaning and remediation; evaluate the phytotoxic
effect of oil-contaminated soil before and after the application of
probiotics; to find the optimal concentration of probiotics for the effective
cleaning and remediation of soil. The seedling method was used to
evaluate the phytotoxic effect of contaminated soil before and after the
application of probiotics. Research results showed an ambiguous impact
on Pisum sativum and Avéna satíva at different times after pollution. In
the initial phase, polluted soil has no significant influence on Pisum
sativum. For Avéna satíva soil, become toxic right away after pollution.
Phytotoxic effect of Pisum sativum and Avéna sativa decrease by the
indexes of seed emergence, roots length, roots weight, underground part
length and ground part weight due to probiotics treatment. The high
efficiency of biological remediation by probiotics in comparison with soil
cleaning in natural conditions is determined in the experiment. Probiotic
concentration 1:10 is the most effective of all studied initial concentrations
of pollutants. Reducing probiotic concentration leads to a decrease in the
efficiency of soil cleaning from petroleum products
Dynamic Verification of a Grid Structure Numerical Model Consisting of Different Stiffness Parts
AbstractThe work presents the results of experimental and numerical investigations into the natural frequencies of grid structure containing parts made of materials with significantly different elastic modulus. A good example of such structure is human thorax. Firstly, the elastic properties of bone and cartilage materials were obtained by using bending and compression tests. The elastic modulus of the compact substance of the bone is 8…12GPa, coastal cartilage – 70…90MPa. The maximum failure force and bending strength were defined under the bending impact test (using a drop tower impact system). This bone strength is ∼175MPa (1.5...2 times more of the values obtained in static bending). Then, a three-dimensional model of a human thorax was developed allowing one to predict their mode shapes and the natural frequencies using the finite element method (ANSYS software). The verification of the model was carried out by comparing the experimental (in vivo) and numerical natural frequencies of a human thorax

Case study: Influence of probiotics-based products on phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi in agrocenosis
Saabunud / Received 02.11.2021 ; Aktsepteeritud / Accepted 22.12.2021 ; Avaldatud veebis / Published online 23.12.2021 ; Vastutav autor / Corresponding author: Anna Taranenko [email protected] recent years bacterial diseases of agricultural plants have reached a new level of epiphytoty and they appear as an essential factor that influences crop yield. It is important to use products, which provide the eradication of pathogenic agents and the prevention of their development and propagation. The objective of our study is to define the effect of probiotics, based on Bacillus subtillis, on bactericidal and fungicidal activities, and to develop the recommendations for probiotics application in a biological system of plant protection. The results show that studied solutions Sviteco-PPW, Sviteco-OPL and Sviteco-Agrobiotic-01 affect phytopathogenic bacteria. Sviteco-Agrobiotic-01 either is the most active product, in its native state or diluted. It has demonstrated high antagonizing activity against all studied phytopathogenic bacteria. Hence, Sviteco-Agrobiotic-01 has the best potential to be used in the biological protection system of grain crops, grain legumes, vegetables from the most dangerous and widely spread pathogenic bacteria. Research results don't show a significant effect of studied probiotics on phytopathogenic fungicidal activity
Correlation of the English fairy tale’s plot structure and its prosodic organisation
In the paper on the basis of a systemic analysis of the English fairy tales’ semantic, functional and structural characteristics the author updates its definition of a small form folk text, outlines typical genre characteristics and substantiates a hierarchical subordination of its functional features. The paper also advances the algorithmic model, representing the steps of unfolding the English fairy tales’ plot elements, which serves as a theoretical and methodological ground for the experimental phonetic study of prosodic means that organise the text of a fairy tale. Within the process of model formation, the author performs a matrix analysis of the fairy tale’s content and compositional structure, presented as a systemic algorithmic scheme. The evaluation of emotional and pragmatic potentials of the spoken fairy tale made it possible to describe the peculiarities of prosodic features functioning within its structural elements (exposition → development of the events → climax → denouement) and at their junctures as well as substantiate its invariant and variant intonation patterns. The carried out auditory analysis proves that there is a direct correlation between the fairy tale’s plot structure and its prosodic means, whose specific interaction triggers creative and cognitive processes in the recipient’s mind aimed at conveying the text pragmatic aim
Prosodic organization of English folk riddles and the mechanism of their decoding
The paper advances a cognitive model representing a creative mechanism of riddle decoding by its recipient, which serves as a theoretical and methodological ground for the experimental phonetic study of prosodic means that organize the text of a riddle. Within the process of cognitive model formation the author performs a conceptual analysis of the riddle compositional structure, presented as a systemic algorithmic scheme. It is confirmed that a characteristic feature of a folk riddle is its division into two elements: the first one is the description of an object, further differentiated into “topic” and “commentary”, while the second one is the riddle answer, or solution, generated directly in the recipient’s mind as a result of his/her mental activities. The carried out auditory analysis proves that such a limitation of the riddle’s structure is compensated by a set of prosodic means and their specific interaction, which trigger creative and cognitive processes in the recipient’s mind aimed at searching for the riddle solution
BATH-HOUSES IN THE PLANNING STRUCTURE OF ANCIENT KYIV-PODIL
The article presents archaeologically fixed objects of wooden architecture of ancient times in Podil Kyiv, which scientists first interpreted as baths. Although there have been attempts in the national scientific literature to interpret the structures as baths (a monumental stone building of the XI century in the yard of the Kyiv Metropolitan, a wooden structure on the site 34 in Petrovsky's estate), first, these interpretations provoked debates. Secondly, they involved data only from Upper Kyiv - there was no case of identifying as a bath an archaeologically fixed object of wooden architecture in Podil. In the article, based on the analysis of available written, ethnographic and archaeological sources, the author proves the possibility of the existence of similar structures in the largest area of Ancient Kyiv.
The author addresses several issues regarding the mass development and planning structure of the ancient Russian hem. The first is the selection of more than 300 fixed objects of wooden architecture of this period, actually a bath. In doing so, it is proposed to use the technique of Khoroshov, which he proposed and implemented at the excavations of Ancient Novgorod. The second question concerns the revision and re-interpretation of the functional purpose of the investigated objects of ancient Russian architectural architecture recorded at the hem of Kyiv. Three buildings of the XII century are presented for consideration. (building No. 4, Obolonskaya St., 4, 1989, building No. 1, Pochayninska St., 27/44, 2003, building No. 8, Nizhniy Val St., 43, 1989), which the author proposes considered as baths that were part of the city planning structure. The author states that confirmation of the existence of bath-houses will allow to investigate the objects related to hygiene in the Old Rus and to expand not only the life of ancient Kyiv significantly. Also, it will be possible to make adjustments to the general reconstructions of the ordinary old-Russian manor and quarter
