On April 10, the 7th International Student Research Conference organized by the Russian Language Department was held at MGIMO University. This year the conference was devoted to the role of the Russian language in international relations. The conference was aimed at stimulating the research and project activities of young scientists in the field of studying the Russian language and its use in the field of scientific and professional communication. The opening plenary session included speeches by MGIMO professors M. V. Belyakov, A. A. Vasilyeva, N. D. Afanasyeva, and the Head of Science Department of RUDN U. M. Bakhtikireeva. The plenary session was followed by breakout sessions in two topic areas. The conference was attended by dozens of university students from Russia, from neighboring and distant foreign countries, including Turkey and China. Students delivered reports on various subjects, including the role of the Russian language in international politics and diplomacy, the Russian language in the context of the dialogue of cultures, the reflection of the national culture in the Russian language, the role of the Russian language in the post-Soviet space, etc. This event is held twice a year to give young scientists a venue to share the results of their research and serves as a discussion platform. Summing up, the participants noted the scientific and practical significance and relevance of the materials presented at the conference, the high professionalism of the speakers, the clear and high-quality organization of the conference, and expressed their gratitude to the organizers

Measurement of the activation energies of oxygen ion diffusion in yttria stabilized zirconia by flicker noise spectroscopy

    No full text
The low-frequency noise in a nanometer-sized virtual memristor consisting of a contact of a conductive atomic force microscope (CAFM) probe to an yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) thin film deposited on a conductive substrate is investigated. YSZ is a promising material for the memristor application since it is featured by high oxygen ion mobility, and the oxygen vacancy concentration in YSZ can be controlled by varying the molar fraction of the stabilizing yttrium oxide. Due to the low diameter of the CAFM probe contact to the YSZ film (similar to 10nm), we are able to measure the electric current flowing through an individual filament both in the low resistive state (LRS) and in the high resistive state (HRS) of the memristor. Probability density functions (Pdfs) and spectra of the CAFM probe current in both LRS and HRS are measured. The noise in the HRS is found to be featured by nearly the same Pdf and spectrum as the inner noise of the experimental setup. In the LRS, a flicker noise 1/f(gamma) with gamma approximate to 1.3 is observed in the low-frequency band (up to 8kHz), which is attributed to the motion (drift/diffusion) of oxygen ions via oxygen vacancies in the filament. Activation energies of oxygen ion motion determined from the flicker noise spectra are distributed in the range of [0.52; 0.68] eV at 300K. Knowing these values is of key importance for understanding the mechanisms of the resistive switching in YSZ based memristors as well as for the numerical simulations of memristor devices

Is the theory of self-regulation of the epidemic process acceptable for the new coronavirus infection COVID-19?

    No full text
In recent years there have been discussions about the universality of the theory of self-regulation of the epidemic process, developed by academician V.D. Belyakov. Its adequacy for infections with different mechanisms of pathogen transmission, as well as for different groups in the ecological classification of infectious diseases (anthroponoses, zoonoses, sapronoses) has been questioned. In this connection, it seemed relevant to test the applicability of the main provisions of the self-regulation theory to the manifestations of the COVID-19 epidemic process. The aim of the investigation was to determine whether the manifestations of COVID-19 epidemic process in the territory of Samara region were in compliance with certain provisions of the self-regulation theory of epidemic process by academician V.D. Belyakov.Material and methods. The study was conducted in the Samara region and Moscow, the study period: March 2020 – June 2022. The data of official statistics on morbidity, population mortality from COVID-19, morbidity of community-acquired pneumonia were used as research material. Elements of classical epidemiological analysis were used as research tools, for calculations we used Excel, Statgraphics plus for Windows programs.Results. The second (key) proposition of the theory of self-regulation of the epidemic process by academician V. D. Belyakov was shown to be applicable to the epidemic process COVID-19. On the example of COVID-19, as an infection with an unspecified group in the ecological classification of infectious diseases, the postulate of V.D. Belyakov on the relative autonomy of the course of the epidemic process in different territories was confirmed
