Generators of the quantum finite W-algebras in type A
We prove a conjecture proposed in [A. De Sole, V. G. Kac and D. Valeri, Finite W-algebras for N, Adv. Math. 327 (2018) 173-224.] describing the Lax type operator L(z) for the quantum finite W-algebras of N in terms of a PBW generating system for the W-algebra. In doing so, we extend this result to an arbitrary good grading and an arbitrary isotropic subspace of [1 2]
The Author/Translator Interactional Process. A Case Study
See Naples and Kill (1988) is a lively and colourful novel by the con-temporary English writer, Gregory Dowling, translated into Italian in 2015.
Following the tradition of translation studies (Venuti 2000, Bass-nett 2002, Cronin 2006), this paper analyses the rewriting process of literary translation, considering in particular the fruitful but sometimes tense and even conflictual relationship between writer and translator.
The translation of the novel See Naples and Kill was an ongoing rewriting process entailing a constant dialogue between the writer and the translator. Therefore, the study aims at answering two main ques-tions: what happens if the rewriting process of translation is constant-ly questioned by the author? What happens if the author has a good mastery of the target language and s/he is her/himself a translator?
By exploring the relationship between translation and re-creation, the research focuses on the differences and similarities between the primary creation (source text) and the secondary creation (target text), and aims to verify in which way the dialogic encounter of two different personalities and cultures does not make them merge but, by retaining their own uniqueness, leads eventually to their mutually en-riching each other. A comparative analysis of the source text and the different drafts of the translated version accompanied by the author’s comments will shed light on the tense author-translator relationship in the specific case under investigation and how both actors handle this tension in order to create a new work resulting from the (dis)agreement of the two parties
The last excavation (2004-2006) in the eastern necropolis of Polizzello (CL) allowed to complete
the excavation of this important funerary area and to discover a grave (No 2/2004) containing
over 100 dead children. It represents a privileged observatory for the study of childhood in
the indigenous world of Sicily. The structure of the tomb, the relative and absolute chronology, the
composition of the kit with its symbolic value and the mode of deposition of the buried are analyzed,
thanks to the data of the stratigraphic excavation. The hypotheses on causes of deaths are based
on anthropological and paleobiological studies conducted on skeletal finds, while some final
considerations concern the remarkable funeral visibility given to infants and the special funeral apparatus
set up for the tragic event
The subject of the contribution is the analysis of the lower part (feet) of a clay statue and two clay artefacts decorated with a figurative scene, all found in the anellenic site of Monte Capodarso (Enna) and datable between the 6th and the 5th century BC The latter, considered, at the time of their discovery, as parts of a trapeze, are now considered, in the light of the analysis of the clays, of the decoration and on the basis of comparisons, to be the armrests of the throne on which the figure sat, of which only the feet remain, probably a cult agalma
Feeding Behaviour, Swimming Activity and Boldness Explain Variation in Feed Intake and Growth of Sole (Solea Solea) Reared in Captivity
The major economic constraint for culturing sole (Solea solea) is its slow and variable growth. The objective was to study the relationship between feed intake/efficiency, growth, and (non-) feeding behaviour of sole. Sixteen juveniles with an average (SD) growth of 2.7 (1.9) g/kg0.8/d were selected on their growth during a 4-week period in which they were housed communally with 84 other fish. Selected fish were housed individually during a second 4-week period to measure individual feed intake, growth, and behaviour. Fish were hand-fed three times a day during the dark phase of the day until apparent satiation. During six different days, behaviour was recorded twice daily during 3 minutes by direct observations. Total swimming activity, frequency of burying and of escapes were recorded. At the beginning and end of the growth period, two sequential behavioural tests were performed: “Novel Environment” and “Light Avoidance”. Fish housed individually still exhibited pronounced variation in feed intake (CV = 23%), growth (CV = 25%) and behavior (CV = 100%). Differences in feed intake account for 79% of the observed individual differences in growth of sole. Fish with higher variation in feed intake between days and between meals within days had significantly a lower total feed intake (r = -0.65 and r = -0.77) and growth. Active fish showed significantly higher feed intake (r = 0.66) and growth (r = 0.58). Boldness during both challenge tests was related to fast growth: (1) fish which reacted with a lower latency time to swim in a novel environment had significantly higher feed intake (r = -0.55) and growth (r = -0.66); (2) fish escaping during the light avoidance test tended to show higher feed intake (
The contribution analyzes the structure, composition and contexts of the archaic age bronze hoards found in the colonial and anellenic sites of Sicily. The particular frequency of hoards in sacred areas is evident, where they are consecrated to the chthonic divinities due to their intrinsic value, linked to their metallic nature and their notion of weight
From the Bronze Age the existence of a commercial circuit of collection of “old metal” in the form of hoards, which involves almost all regions of the Mediterranean and affects both silver and bronze, which however follow different circuits. The aim is to accumulate raw material, a source of wealth also for use as an means of exchange, thanks to a system management of waste metal collection and recycling centres, as well as agents and mechanisms specialized exchange. Sicily was at the center of the bronze and silver collection circuits
