Nova Peris
No full textNova Peris has had a remarkable career as an athlete. A mother at 19, Nova worked hard to earn a place in the Australian Women's Hockey team. In 1996, at the Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, USA, the Australian Women's Hockey team won the gold medal. Nova became the first Indigenous Australian and the first Northern Territorian to win an Olympic gold medal.
She embraced the new challenge of competing at an international level in Athletics. She won gold in the 200 metres and 4 x 100 metre relay at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. Nova then went on to represent Australia in the semi finals in the 400 metres at the Sydney Olympics.
Among her other achievements, Nova was named Young Australian of the Year in 1997 and then became a treaty ambassador for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC). Through her charity 'Peris Enterprises' she continues to advocate and promote an active lifestyle and health checks among Indigenous children and communities.
Nova Peris is Australia's first Aboriginal woman elected to Federal Parliament in the 2013 Federal election on 7 September.

The need for continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning and the need to equip our graduates with digital skills led us to partner in the Beyond Scale project. The activity described in this user story builds on the HEInnovate dimension "Digital Transformation and Capability" and focuses on improving the quality of teaching and digital enhanced learning. Providing digital skills to our graduates is identified as a major requirement from the labour market. To discuss the actions need for this, we organised a workshop with NOVA IMS program coordinators. The workshop helped us refine our digital teaching and learning strategy.publishersversionpublishe

NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS). --- Este estudo contou com o apoio da Bayer Portugal.O presente sumário destaca os resultados do projeto colaborativo entre o NOVA Health & Analytics Lab (NOVA IMS) e a Bayer, no âmbito do "Consenso Estratégico Nacional para a Doença Renal Diabética," realizado de abril a novembro de 2023. Contexto e Significado: A Doença Renal Diabética afeta aproximadamente 550 mil portugueses, gerando um impacto significativo na saúde pública. Este documento procura oferecer insights valiosos, sensibilizando os profissionais de saúde para a importância e impacto que esta doença tem nas pessoas com Diabetes e melhorando a qualidade de vida dos doentes. Objetivos do Projeto: O projeto visou identificar oportunidades inovadoras na gestão da doença, promovendo uma abordagem colaborativa entre os stakeholders. O foco recaiu sobre áreas cruciais, como diretrizes para a patologia, integração de cuidados e políticas de saúde em Portugal, além da sensibilização e formação de profissionais de saúde e da comunidade. CONTRIBUIÇÕES CHAVE: 1. Diretrizes para a Patologia: • Avaliação das atuais diretrizes e propostas de melhorias. • Identificação de lacunas e áreas de desenvolvimento para otimizar a gestão clínica. 2. Integração de Cuidados e Políticas de Saúde: • Análise crítica da integração de cuidados existente. • Sugestões para aprimorar políticas de saúde, garantindo uma abordagem holística. 3. Sensibilização e Formação: • Desenvolvimento de estratégias para aumentar a consciencialização sobre a Doença Renal Diabética. • Propostas de programas e intervenções visando profissionais de saúde e a comunidade em geral. CONCLUSÕES E RECOMENDAÇÕES: Este documento fornece uma visão abrangente das percepções dos peritos nacionais e destaca oportunidades tangíveis para a inovação em saúde. As recomendações abrem caminho para uma abordagem mais eficaz e integrada, visando a melhoria da gestão da Doença Renal Diabética em Portugal. Os Diagnósticos In Vitro (DIV) representam cerca de 70% dos resultados de diagnóstico laboratorial. Contudo, apenas 2% dos gastos em saúde em Portugal são investidos em diagnóstico. NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS).Com o compromisso de promover e valorizar os cuidados prestados aos cidadãos e providenciar as melhores ferramentas aos profissionais que atuam no setor da saúde, a Roche e a NOVA IMS desenvolveram, em parceria, um estudo com o intuito de analisar a perceção do valor dos Diagnósticos in vitro (DIV) para o futuro da saúde no contexto nacional. Com esta colaboração, para além da componente teórica, pretende-se desenvolver uma análise qualitativa às perceções dos principais stakeholders face ao desafio de melhoria dos sistemas de apoio à decisão em saúde e uma proposta de plano de ação face à introdução de inovação no sistema. Pretende-se contribuir para uma melhor compreensão dos fatores críticos da perceção do valor do DIV, da aplicabilidade do mesmo e das dimensões dos seus contributos para o doente, área clínica, sistema de saúde e sociedade em geral. Acreditamos que, ao aproximar o mundo académico e o empresarial, podemos incorporar nas organizações soluções inovadoras em termos científicos e tecnológicos e potencialmente geradoras de valor acrescentado para o setor da Saúde em Portugal. This initiative brings together diverse voices and multidisciplinary perspectives of recognized expertise, with the aim of debating challenges, exploring opportunities, and contributing to the future agenda of actions and policies that can maximize the health benefits of adult vaccination in Portuguese society. The Think Tank comprised three discussion sessions, each focusing on distinct yet complementary and critical dimensions (clinical, economic, and health policy). These discussions were instrumental in building consensus on a set of priority actions and proposals to be disseminated among policymakers and the scientific community. The recommendations presented in this report are based on an evidence-driven analysis. While the contributions of participants were considered and served as a foundation for the development of these proposals, the recommendations described here do not necessarily reflect the individual or personal opinions of all participants involved in the process. General Introduction: Conserving Nova Scotia's Biodiversity
No full textThe papers on biodiversity in this issue focus on the richness of life in Nova Scotia, and the means by which this richness might be conserved. Mammals, birds, fish, beetles, and diatoms are examples of the richness of life described in the volume. The conservation status of selected species is outlined, as are the threats to these species. Special attention is paid to moose and roseate terns, and a wide range of birds, beetles, fish, mammals and other species receive some attention. Conservation options based on the protection of habitat in Nova Scotia, as well as comprehensive landscape-scale strategies for biodiversity conservation planning, are similarly described both in detail and in general by a variety of authors
