Seweryn Kurowski : a pharmacist from Wadowice
Obecnie w jego dawnej kamienicy mieści się Muzeum Domu Rodzinnego Jana Pawła II.Seweryn Kurowski was born in 1839 in Rzeszów, into a bourgeois family. In 1863, he took part in the January Uprising. After its suppression, as a political fugitive from the Kingdom of Poland, on the run from the tsarist repressions, e.g. forced deportation into Siberia, he made his way to Krakow, and subsequently commenced his pharmaceutical studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, Jagiellonian University. Having obtained his Master of Science degree in pharmacy in 1865, he settled in Wadowice, where he became the proprietor of a regional pharmacy around 1880. Good fortune in business allowed him to purchase a tenement house at 7 Kościelna Street. In 1920, Karol Wojtyła, later Pope John Paul II, was born at the very same premises. Kurowski also happened to serve on the city council, eventually rising to the position of a deputy mayor of Wadowice. He died in 1889. Presently, his former tenement house accommodates a museum - The Holy Father John Paul II Family Home in Wadowice

COVID, home schooling and inequalities
Introduction: One major effect of the COVID-19 lockdown has been the closure of schools and the switch to home learning for most children through online or hybrid models of teaching and learning. However, questions would be asked about the quality of this model, especially in the light of recent policy moves to reduce educational differences across the country. Research Aim: The aims of this article are to draw together recent research into home schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic and provide a theoretical explanation against a policy background with a stated aim of reducing inequalities in education.
Method: A literature review was carried out of articles that relate to the experiences of home schooling for children and families as well as more general effects of lockdown. Results: Results show clear differences in home schooling experiences in terms of resources and attitudes, and school provision. Concepts of cultural capital and cultural deprivation have been used to show how inequalities continue to persist despite recent policy aimed at reducing inequalities.
Conclusions: Home schooling has brought inequalities into sharp focus over how schools deliver home schooling and how children and families are able to take advantage of what has been provided. It indicates that a cultural shift is needed. Education has been devolved to the level of the individual and for real change to take place, a more collective approach is needed. Language, self-esteem, and academic achievement: mature students’ emotionally incited stories
Through empirical evidence we have found that female students reflect their emotions through the language they use. This paper examines responses of 24 adult female students in higher education on Early Childhood Studies (ECS) programmes. It draws on qualitative interview data from a recent research project and interactions in meetings. The aim of the research was to determine the views of students on perceived benefits of higher education to their early childhood, education, and care (ECEC) practice in a sector that is notoriously low paid and carries low status. The research was undertaken in a further education (FE) college on the Isle of Wight in England to establish the impact of HE in childhood studies. What started as research into early years policy morphed into a very unexpected and emotional response. The language used also revealed the insecurities and lack of confidence of this student group as they embarked on, and during their time as students in HE. Our experience as professionals working in higher education, is that adult female students can express their levels ambition (or lack of) through their language, especially where they feel they do not really belong in higher education, and where their prospects of success are tempered by their view of themselves and their perceived ability

Health System Financing
Health financing, one of the key building blocks of health systems, involves three interrelated functions—revenue mobilization, pooling funds, and purchasing health services. This chapter develops four key principles for high performance health financing across the three functions: (1) The predominant form of revenues for health should come from obligatory prepaid funds, not out-of-pocket health payments; (2) risk sharing works better when pools are large and health risk profiles diverse; (3) purchasing requires specifying a core set of health services guaranteed to all beneficiaries from pooled funds; (4) purchasing should use payment methods that ensure the universal availability of guaranteed services with quality, at the lowest possible cost. Additional principles will likely emerge in the future as health financing adapts to emerging and new threats: threats that increase the need to spend on health systems or that reduce country capacities to raise revenues

Performer‑child as a spectator and participant in performative art
Publikacja stanowi wprowadzenie i uzasadnienie kategorii dziecka‑performera – dziecka, które poprzez ustawicznie powtarzane zachowania (możliwe do manifestowania w danej kulturze) kreuje siebie oraz swoje relacje z otoczeniem. Ta kategoria implikuje też rozszerzenie zakresu pojmowania dziecka jako odbiorcy i uczestnika sztuki performatywnej. Poprzez analizę publikacji w dziedzinie teorii i historii performansu oraz teorii i historii wychowania, poprzez badania terenowe autor ugruntowuje tezę, że dziecko‑performer stanowi modelowe ogniwo autopojetycznej pętli feedbacku. The publication introduces and justifies the category of performer‑child – a child who creates themself and the relations between them and the social environment by continually replicating actions within a given culture. This category extends also understanding of the child as a spectator and participant in performative art. By analyzing sources in the field of performance studies and pedagogy as well as doing field research, the author confirms the assertion that the performer‑child is the model link in the autopoietic feedback loop
