    ESR1: DiXiT Experience

So. Farewell, then, DiXiT. The only research Network named After a board-game. Which is good because "Monopoly" and "Settlers of Catan" Don't sound like Research networks To me. -- Richard Hadden, 33⅓ (after E.J. Thribb) I have to put horizontal lines through this. It is impossible for me not to look back at my experience of DiXiT without it being refracted through a lens of sadness. Not just because DiXiT is over for me, and for the other fellows, who have become some of the closest p..

ER1 - Reminiscing on a Year of DiXiT

So apparently it's October 2017 already. DiXiT has officially ended a month ago, and it's been six since the end of my fellowship. How did this happen? Is DiXiT really over? Thankfully, re-reading my co-fellows' final DiXiT blogposts (by Tuomo, Frederike, Misha, Roman, Elena, Linda, and Merisa) seems to suggest that it isn't – that the network may survive after the funding has stopped. In any case I'm looking forward to continue collaborating with these wonderful researchers who have become b..

    A Tale of DiXiT

DiXiT Recalled. It was the best of times (although occasionally it got worse), it was the age of wisdom (although I sure felt foolish sometimes), it was the epoch of belief (even if at times it felt all too incredulous), it was the season of Light (although the three years had some spots of Darkness), it was the spring of hope (blended with despair), we had everything before us. And now it's over. But with so much that has happened, we still have everything before us. In an attempt to describ..

EsR 10 - DiXiT, after all

How it all began. In the warm Greek spring days of 2014 I clearly remember myself reading with a mixed feeling of admiration and jealousy (with a good reason) about a new scholarly training network under the sibyllic acronym DiXiT: a group of young researchers from across Europe (and USA) were dealing afresh with the ‘hot’ topic of Digital Humanities, digital scholarly editing, alongside a long list of high-profile institutions and pioneering scholars ready to offer them training and support ..

Although I’ve been to Belgium a number of times, I have always seemed to be on my ..

In Maynooth, on the 5th February 2016 my DiXiT fellowship ended and the 7th, a Monday I started my new job as librarian in the Economics library of Ca' Foscari. I officially said “Goodbye” to Maynooth University for coming back Italy, coming home and starting my new job. I went away with a huge baggage of new experiences, new competences, new connections. Because a series of technical and organizational hitches the great official launch of Letters of 1916 was postponed in March 2016, so I mi..

As the DiXiT fellows know, some of us are planning to attend the Digital Humanities Oxford Summer School from 14-18 July 2014. I will be attending the "Humanities Web of Data" workshop. As part of this summer school, we decided to submit a proposal for the poster session that will be held on the first evening at the Natural History Museum. Magdalena Turska (University of Oxford) submitted the proposal,Richard Hadden (National University of Ireland-Maynooth) digitally compiled the information..

Secondment Update - ESR8 DiXiT Fellow at Cambridge University Library

    No full text
NB: As in my previous post about my DiXiT Research Secondment, for ethical reasons I am not using the names of people I work with in Cambridge University Library in case I use excerpts of interviews with them in future articles or in my thesis, which will include an extended discussion of this secondment.  I have now been working in and performing participant observation research at Cambridge University Library for nearly two months. I have been lucky to meet a lot of people who work in the ..
