La crisi dell’Unione Monetaria e le relazioni centro-periferia in Europa

    No full text

    Anticipatory Design Literacies

In this thematic essay we we mark out some of the main concerns that a futures oriented design education might include within a framing we label ‘Anticipatory Design’ (Celi & Morrison, 2017). In essence, Anticipatory Design refers to design that seeks to develop design literacies, practices and analyses that ‘take care ahead of time’ (Morrison, 2019). Through FUEL4DESIGN we have taken up the term and made it more visible to highlight relationships, potentials and pedagogies that contribute to a dynamics of shaping futures and design (Candy & Potter, 2019). In adopting a view of design futures literacies in-the-making, our framing is not meant to be universal, absolute or determinist. Rather, it is dynamic, relational and emergent in character and it is situated in a diversity of contexts and acknowledging difference and plurality. In brief, our work adopts a mode of ‘using the future in education’ (Facer, 2016) and extends it to making design futures in learning through anticipatory designing

Struttura finanziaria, divari regionali e crescita: il dibattito teorico e l'evidenza empirica R. Capolupo, G. Celi pp. 761-822 € 7 [pdf 187K] Abstract The relationship between financial development and economic growth has received enormous attention in the economic literature in the last decade. The widely-accepted finding is that "financial development" has a positive effect on growth at either aggregate or industry, or firm, levels. While the impact of "financial structure" on growth has received less support. This paper aims at providing an overview of the theoretical and empirical findings by pointing out that the finance-growth nexus has been present in the research agenda of Italian economists since the Seventies and it is still much alive. More specifically, the recent research agenda of Italian economists tries to explain how financial systems can shrink regional the growth differential by looking at new quality indices of bank efficiency and at spatial accessibility of financial funds. The paper elucidates what financial structure, banks or markets, is more conducive to economic growth. Keywords financial development, economic growth, stock market, banks Prima pagina articolo

Design computazionale e fabbricazione digitale: un diverso approccio per il design. Definizione di un design tool per la comprensione e lo sviluppo di prodotti personalizzabili

    No full text
Si auspica che l’approccio proposto aiuterà i Designer a creare nuove opportunità per il sistema produttivo, coerentemente alle recenti politiche di sviluppo dell’industria 4.0.Today the maturing, democratization and diffusion of Digital Fabrication technologies, contribute to a paradigm shift in the relation between design, production and consumption. Meanwhile, Computational Design (also called generative or parametric) is an emerging practice that relies on the morphological freedom and logistical flexibility offered by DF. The doctoral research hypothesizes that the Design discipline could use and valorize better DF and CD by developing products that are personalisable from a morphological point of view. In order to consolidate this practice, the research elaborates a concept design approach focused on the divergent user needs, which can determine the variability of the final product. The analysis of the case studies led to the identification of six recurring personalization principles which can characterize the value proposition; the proposed methodology offers a systemic way of replicating these with the support of a new design tool, experimented through various didactic activities. This canvas tool guides the designers’ thinking towards a product concept of which the act of personalization can be an essential element. The proposed approach might help Designers to create new economic opportunities, coherently with the recent development policies supporting Industry 4.0

Critical behavior of the two-dimensional N-component Landau-Ginzburg Hamiltonian with cubic anisotropy

    No full text
We study the two-dimensional N-component Landau-Ginzburg Hamiltonian with cubic anisotropy. We compute and analyze the fixed-dimension perturbative expansion of the renormalization-group functions to four loops. The relations of these models with N-color Ashkin-Teller models, discrete cubic models, the planar model with fourth-order anisotropy, and the structural phase transition in adsorbed monolayers are discussed. Our results for N=2 (XY model with cubic anisotropy) are compatible with the existence of a line of fixed points joining the Ising and the O(2) fixed points. Along this line the exponent eta has the constant value 1/4, while the exponent nu runs in a continuous and monotonic way from 1 to infinity [from Ising to O(2)]. In the four-loop approximation, for Ngreater than or equal to3 we find a cubic fixed point in the region u,vgreater than or equal to0

Alessandra Del Fiorentino, Silvana Cianchetti, Alessandro Celi, Giulia Dell’Omo, Roberto PedrinelliDipartimento Cardio Toracico e Vascolare, Università di Pisa, ItalyAbstract: Anti-inflammatory properties may contribute to the pharmacological effects of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), a leading therapeutic class in the management of hypertension and related cardiovascular and renal diseases. That possibility, supported by consistent evidence from in-vitro and animal studies showing pro-inflammatory properties of angiotensin II, has been evaluated clinically by measuring the effect of ARBs on C-reactive protein and other circulating indices of inflammation (e-selectin, adhesion molecules, interleukin-6, tissue necrosis factor-alpha, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1) of potential clinical relevance, a body of evidence that this paper aims to review. Keywords: renin–angiotensin system, angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers, vascular inflammation, C-reactive protein, circulating inflammatory marker
