The effect of the adenosine A2A antagonist KW-6002 on motor and motivational processes in the rat
No full textRationaleIt is well established that humans and rats respond to an imperative stimulus more rapidly as a function of the foreperiod preceding the target, and with this decrease in mean response time, there is also an increase in anticipatory (prior to the signal) responses. These changes reflect enhanced motor readiness. Also, reaction times are quicker when the cost of reward (amount of work required) is minimum. Antagonism of the adenosine A2A receptor has been shown to effect motor-related processes.ObjectiveThis study examined the behavioural effects of systemic administration of the adenosine A2A antagonist KW-6002 in a cued reaction time task in the rat. The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether KW-6002 would enhance motor readiness and effect performance as a function of reward cost.MethodsRats were trained on a visually cued reaction time task with variable foreperiods, and the effects of three doses of KW-6002 (0.3, 1.0 and 3.0 mg/kg systemically, compared to vehicle) were examined.ResultsIncreasing doses of KW-6002 resulted in faster reaction times and an increase in the number of anticipatory responses. KW-6002 enhanced the foreperiod effect on reaction time distributions and anticipatory responses. In addition, KW-6002 had differential effects on performance between rewarded and unrewarded trials.ConclusionAntagonism of adenosine A2A receptors by systemic KW-6002 speeds reaction time and enhanced motor preparatory processes as well as interacting with motivational processes

No full textElectrotechnical standards serve as guiding documents for safe operations in the electrical field. This thesis investigated how the standard SFS 6002 and other electrotechnical standards are used in education, among electrical professionals, and within company management. Data was collected through interviews and an online survey.
The interviewed teachers stated that electrical safety is present throughout teaching, but the link to the SFS 6002 standard is sometimes weak. In particular, the high cost of the standard affects accessibility. The interviewed electrical professionals mentioned that there are occasionally interpretation issues related to the standards. Company management felt that electrotechnical standards are beneficial to their business. Many also believe that the importance of standards will increase in the future.
To increase the use and improve the user experience of electrotechnical standards among electrical professionals, the threshold for providing guidance should be lowered. Educational efforts can be supported by offering more affordable licensing solutions to educational institutions, as well as supplementary materials.Sähkötekniset standardit toimivat ohjaavana asiakirjana turvalliselle toiminalle sähköalalla. Diplomityössä tutkittiin, miten standardia SFS 6002 sekä muita sähköteknisiä standardeja käytetään opetuksessa, sähköalan ammattilaisten keskuudessa sekä yritysjohdossa. Aineistoa kerättiin haastatteluilla sekä sähköisellä kyselyllä.
Haastateltavat opettajat kertoivat, että sähkötyöturvallisuus on läsnä kaikessa opetuksessa, mutta yhteys standardiin SFS 6002 jää ajoittain heikoksi. Etenkin kallis hinta vaikuttaa saatavuuteen. Haastateltavat sähköalan ammattilaiset kertoivat, että standardeihin liittyy ajoittain tulkintaongelmia. Yritysjohto koki, että sähköteknisistä standardeista on hyötyä heidän liiketoiminnallensa. Moni myös uskoo, että standardien merkitys tulee kasvamaan tulevaisuudessa.
Lisätäkseen sähköteknisten standardien käyttöastetta ja miellyttävää käyttäjäkokemusta sähköalan ammattilaisten keskuudessa, tulisi neuvonnan kynnystä madaltaa. Opetukseen on mahdollisuus vaikuttaa tarjoamalla edullisempia lisenssiratkaisuja oppilaitoksille sekä muuta rinnakkaismateriaalia.Elektrotekniska standarder fungerar som vägledande dokument för säker verksamhet inom elbranschen. I detta diplomarbete undersöktes hur standarden SFS 6002 samt andra elektrotekniska standarder används i undervisning, bland yrkesverksamma inom elbranschen samt inom företagsledning. Material samlades in genom intervjuer och en digital enkät.
De intervjuade lärarna uppgav att elsäkerhet är närvarande i all undervisning, men kopplingen till standarden SFS 6002 förblir ibland svag. Framför allt påverkar det höga priset på standarden tillgängligheten. De intervjuade yrkesverksamma inom elbranschen berättade att det ibland förekommer tolkningsproblem i samband med standarder. Företagsledningen ansåg att elektrotekniska standarder är till nytta för deras verksamhet. Många tror också att standardernas betydelse kommer att öka i framtiden.
För att öka användningen av elektrotekniska standarder och förbättra användarupplevelsen bland yrkesverksamma inom elbranschen bör tröskeln för rådgivning sänkas. Undervisningen kan påverkas genom att erbjuda mer pris-värda licenslösningar för läroanstalter samt kompletterande material
