An evaluation of the effectiveness of an inflation targeting strategy in Turkey
In this research, the performance of inflation targeting strategy was analysed using the least square method (LSM) with the regression model for economic circumstances in Turkey. The results of this research can be summarised as follows: (1) Inflation targeting regime has a weak positive effect on inflation rate performance; (2) There is no significant relationship between inflation targeting regime and growth rate; (3) There is a positive but a weak relationship between inflation targeting regime and exchange rate performance; and (4) Inflation targeting regime has a strong positive effect on nominal interest rate performance. Thus, these results support the argument in the literature that inflation targeting affects macroeconomic performance positively except for growth rate'. Thus, the post-2002 inflation-targeting regime, whether rule-based or occasional, has led to some improvements in other macroeconomic indicators, even though the primary aim of monetary policy instruments is to bring down the rate of inflation. Such stability-assuring policies enable investors to invest in a more trustable environment
The 2008 Global Financial Crisis and The Liquidity Management of The Central Bank of The Republic of Turkey
FİNANCİAL DİSCİPLİNARY EFFORTS FREE FROM IMF İN TURKEY
In many developing and developed countries, voluntary-arbitrary policies which have been corruptively applied
to financial discipline have brought rule-based financial policies into question. Increasing budget deficit in Turkey,
significant rise in public debt stock and current deficit depending on saving gap have increased the economic fragility,
bringing up efforts to construct a regular financial structure. Turkey, having conducted financial process under the
anchoring of IMF till 2008, has put medium-term programme (MTP) into operation since 2008 as a result of the
search for a new anchor. This study aims to present an evaluation of the process of fiscal rule in Turkey which has not
yet become legalised
Concise synthesis of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes; building blocks for organic electronic and optoelectronic materials
Four step synthesis of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes in the literature was reduced to two steps in good yields, through the preparation of the mono ketone, i.e. 1-(thiophene-3-ylthio)alkan-2-one, from 3-bromothiophene and ring formation reaction. This convenient method provides an easy access with good yields to the preparation of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes, which are important materials for organic electronic and optoelectronic applications. SEM, AFM and contact angle (CA) analyses of their electropolymers on indium tin oxide (ITO) indicated that as the alkyl chains became longer, the polymers provide a more hydrophobic layer with CA up to 107 degrees

Ekimia ozcan-secmenii (Apiaceae), a new species from Southwest Anatolia, Turkey
Ekimia ozcan-secmenii Senol & Eroglu sp. nov. (Apiaceae) is described from SW Turkey. E. ozcan-secmenii differs from its close affinity, E. bornmuelleri, by life form (monocarpic), petal and bracteole morphology, and mericarp features. These data were more supported by the results of nrDNA ITS sequences. The ML tree depicted based on phylogenetic studies aimed to reveal the closeness of the Laserpitium and Prangos species as well as the location the affinity of species in the genus Ekimia. The taxonomic situation of Prangos hulusi was also evaluated based on nrDNA ITS sequences. Since E. ozcan-secmenii is distributed in Sami Soydam Sandalcik hydroelectric power plant in Acipayam, Denizli, the population is threatening by flooding. Therefore, conservation programs are urgently recommended.TUBITAKTurkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [TBAG-108T851]The author would like to thank the curators of GAZI and EGE Herbaria for their helpful assistance.
