A Queueing Theory Approach to Analyze the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Hospitals System Capabilities: A Lesson for Future Pandemic Preparedness

Pandemics are life-threatening and resource-intensive. Hospitals with limited resources saw a surge in patients during pandemics. These situations can result in a large number of casualties in a small time period. The “golden hour” after infection is crucial for treatment and can significantly impact the survival rate. It is inevitable to treat these victims in the “golden hour” to prevent serious loss of lives. Our objective is to enhance the capacity of the healthcare system to treat victims in "golden hours" during pandemics. This article will evaluate the arrival of victims and compare it with the hospital's treatment capabilities. We have created a system known as the "Transient Act System (TAS)." This system identifies overcrowding in hospitals. The M/M/s/GD/c/∞ type multi-channel queueing system is described to calculate the hospital treatment capacity. The hospital capacity calculation method is based on the waiting time probability distribution function, where the patient waiting times follow an Erlang distribution. The suggested method is validated using numerical analysis, including probability distribution and graphical representations. The study ends with suggestions for future research and advice on how to increase the effectiveness of the hospital system in pandemic situations. This study serves as an example that justifies the feasibility. The findings of this study can immediately help policymakers and planners make better decisions about pandemic situations and future health crises

The China-Europe Railway Express, also known as the China-Europe Freight Train, is a flagship initiative of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Since its inception in 2011, it has linked over 200 cities in China and Europe, establishing itself as a critical logistics channel. This study employs quantitative and qualitative analyses to examine seven years of news reports from China Daily, the Middle East News Agency (MENA), and PR Newswire. Using the LexisNexis news database and AntConc software, the study explores high-frequency keywords, collocations, and clusters within the corpus to identify reporting trends and biases. The findings reveal that Chinese media coverage significantly exceeds that of international outlets, which frequently contextualize the railway within the broader BRI framework, indicating limited global familiarity. Moreover, Chinese media focus on the railway’s economic benefits, whereas foreign outlets highlight specific hub cities and development projects. The study recommends that Chinese media adopt a more targeted approach, emphasizing individual routes, specific cargo types, and localized benefits to enhance global understanding and support for both the BRI and the China-Europe Railway Express

The main purpose of the article is to form an effective methodological approach to identifying key social and humanitarian imperatives for ensuring sustainable development and the level of their influence. The object of research is the system for ensuring the sustainable development of Ukraine. The scientific task is to identify key social and humanitarian imperatives and assess their impact on sustainable development through the established methodological approach. The methodology includes the method of semantic networks in synthesis with the method of predicate language construction. At the same time, a formalized description method was used. Recommendations were made on the impact of one of the key imperatives As a result of the conducted research, a scheme of mutual understanding of imperatives and a matrix of priorities that were most significant for Ukraine were formed. The obtained result is extremely important for information support of national security and sustainable development. Possible limitations of this study include the specificity of the context, in particular, that key socio-humanitarian imperatives were largely associated with military action, which is typical for the situation in Ukraine, but may not be common in other countries. Future research prospects may include expanding the analytical framework to include additional imperatives and factors that may impact sustainable development and national security in a changing global context

Unfolding the Antecedents of Entrepreneurial Sustenance: Evidence from Women Entrepreneurs in India

This research investigates the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) and sustenance. Using social cognitive theory (SCT) and self-determination theory (SDT) as theoretical underpinnings, a conceptual model is developed showing the relationships between ESE, decision-making, motivation, skills and competencies, relational support, knowledge, and sustenance of women entrepreneurs. A survey instrument was used to collect data from 396 respondents from the women entrepreneurs in the Dindigul district of southern Tamil Nadu, India. First, the measures' psychometric properties were tested using LISREL software for structural equation modeling. Second, hypothesized relationships were tested using PROCESS macros. The findings indicate (i) ESE is a significant predictor of entrepreneurial decision-making, motivation, and sustenance, (ii) entrepreneurial decision-making and motivation mediate the relationship between ESE and entrepreneurial sustenance, (iii) entrepreneurial knowledge moderates the relationship between ESE and entrepreneurial decision-making, and (iv) relational support (first moderator) and entrepreneurial skills (second moderator) moderate the relationship between motivation and entrepreneurial sustenance. The two-way interaction between ESE and entrepreneurial knowledge in influencing entrepreneurial decision-making and the three-way interaction between motivation, relational support, and skills and competencies in influencing entrepreneurial sustenance bring novelty to the model. To the best of our knowledge, this model's two-way interaction and three-way interaction of variables is the first of its kind in India, particularly about women entrepreneurs in India. It makes a pivotal contribution to entrepreneurship theory and practice

The Essential Morphosyntactic Prerequisites in Natural Language Word-Formation Techniques

It is an indispensable act of human beings to create novel words in their language(s). Morphology is the branch of linguistics that studies the internal structure of words and how words are formed in a language and it accounts for word formation in languages. The open class category, such as nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives, all fall under the open class category (new words can be added). All the world's languages accept the creation of new words in their lexicon. Adequate attention has not yet been paid to the interdependent relationship between Syntax and Morphology in the Yorùbá word-formation system. Therefore, this paper has made an indelible effort to exemplify the essential prerequisites of word formation in a Yorùbá language and also empirically identifies the interdependence between syntax and morphology in the holistic overview of Yorùbá word-formation system. This paper adopted primary and secondary data collection methods to source data. Some native speakers of the standard dialect (Yorùbá) were intentionally selected for structured oral interviews based on their proficiency. Data were also sourced from relevant texts, articles, journals, and so on from libraries and the internet. The Weak Lexicalist Hypothesis (WLH) is also formally employed to showcase the limitation of only morphology in Yorùbá word formation and also opines the acceptability of the morphological and syntactic levels in addressing the holistic view of Yorùbá word-formation system. Given this, various essential morphosyntactic prerequisites have been carefully selected and impeccably analyzed. Such morphosyntactic prerequisites like affixes, reduplication, nominalization through desententialization, and loan words

Research on the management of product returns has gained significant attention in recent years, as it has become an integral part of a company's overall supply chain strategy. Several past studies have suggested that the diverse purposes for which consumers utilize computers, ranging from online shopping and product research to general communication, can have a profound impact on the frequency and characteristics of product returns.  Higher the usage of computers higher is the returns. The study explores the relationship between computer usage purposes and product returns in Bengaluru city, India. The study is an empirical analysis with primary data collection. 223 customers of computer users are considered for the study. The study is intended to help organizations to understand how computer usage purpose has significant relationship on computer product returns. To formulate models and strategies to minimize returns and cost. Computer manufacturers, retailers and e-waste companies can plan their return process efficiently. This research seeks to comprehensively explore the purposes for which consumers employ computers and the nuanced response variables associated with their interactions.  The study aims to understand how logistics managers need to design and develop models from both cost and competition points of view. The return policy is going to become in coming days a potent instrument in making purchases. The more the consumer is educated, the more he would like to learn about the return policy and its action. The study finds the return behaviour of consumers and suggest how to predict returns and improve process efficiency for better operations

The Impact of Blockchain Technology and Big Data on Strategic Cost Management and Accountants' Skills in the Iraqi Technological Environment

Blockchain technology and big data have transformed accounting and strategic cost management in Iraq's rapidly developing technological environment. Blockchain technology provides transparency, security, and the ability to track accounting records, which greatly improves financial statements and enables more accurate and real-time cost tracking and resource allocation. Block Chain certification requires accountants to learn digital ledger management, smart contracts, and decentralized finance system compliance, as well as big data analytics to analyses large data sets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and predict strategic trends. These advances require ongoing learning and adaptation to technologies, as well as data privacy and system security. The study examines how technological advances affect accounting and cost management methods, particularly in Iraq's economic and technological context. The study's main findings were that blockchain technology collects data and information on all transactions within time-series blocks, forming a chain called the blockchain, each of which contains information related to the previous block, making it impossible to modify any block without modifying the entire chain, and big data is an important stage of information and communication development

The use of modern information technologies in heritage sites, such as castles, represents an innovative approach to their preservation, accessibility, and popularization. However, this topic has not yet been comprehensively explored from the perspective of academic research. The aim of this study is to examine academic interest in the use of modern technologies in castles through bibliometric and content analysis of relevant studies. The PICOC and PRISMA methods were used to identify, analyze, and synthesize the literature. The findings indicate that research in this area marginally addresses technologies such as big data, cloud computing, blockchain, and the Internet of Things. On the other hand, it partially focuses on the use of artificial intelligence, with the greatest interest from researchers directed towards virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. These technologies are most often employed to make historical landmarks accessible to the public through virtual tours, reconstructions of the original appearance of castles, or simulations of historical events, enabling vivid and engaging presentations of historical contexts. This study thus contributes to understanding current trends and gaps in research on the application of modern technologies to heritage sites and offers a basis for further research directions
