AI as DJ: Artificial Intelligence as the Arbiter of Musical Taste in Digital Media Platforms and the Cultural Continuum
Technological developments in digital sharing platforms encourage transient sensory experiences driven by choices that are determined by algorithms. Playing an increasingly greater role in driving cultural trends, artificial intelligence is impacting the medium of music, its curation, and culture as a representation of the human narrative.

It is argued that the most important contribution McLuhan made to the study of media was his general systems theory approach consisting of his figure/ground analysis and his general systems or field approach. 
Understanding Human Users: Extensions of Their Digital Media
Digital media are not only extensions of their human users, as McLuhan
posited, but there is a flip or reversal in which the human users of digital
media become extensions of those digital media as these media scoop up
their data and use them to the advantage of those who own these media.

the users of digital media become the feedforward for those very same
