Traffic Impact Analysis of an Underpass on the Performance of Nearby Signalized Intersections Using VISSIM
Medan City is one of the metropolitan cities with a high level of congestion and population density, resulting in traffic jams, delays, as well as air and noise pollution. This study aims to analyze the performance of intersections on S.M Raja – Halat road, Brigjend Katamso – Mesjid Raya road, and Brigjend Katamso - Pelangi road before and after the operation of the underpass at the Ir.H.Juanda – Brigjend Katamso road intersection using vissim software. Data were obtained from traffic surveys such as vehicle volume surveys, road geometry, traffic signal cycle times, and vehicle speeds. The data obtained from the vissim software simulation results include queue lengths, delays, and level of service at the intersection. For the simulation results at the Ir.H.Juanda – Brigjend Katamso road intersection before the operation of the underpass, the average queue length was 274.3 m and the average delay was 307.38 sec/vehicle, with an average level of service of F (very poor). After the operation of the underpass, the average queue length was 8.38 m and the average delay was 0.96 sec/vehicle, with an average level of service of A (excellent). With a 5-year scenario, the average queue length was 38.53 m and the average delay was 12.34 sec/vehicle, with an average level of service of B (good). Thus, a significant difference is clearly visible between before and after the operation of the underpass, such as the results of queue lengths, delays, and service levels, which have caused new conflicts at the intersections closest to the underpass
Strengthening Student Character Through Qur’anic Values in Islamic Education
This study explores how Islamic education grounded in Qur’anic values strengthens the character of students through pedagogical practices implemented by teachers in an Islamic school context. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research investigates how teachers interpret Qur’anic values, integrate them into instructional activities, and employ strategies to ensure the internalization of moral principles among students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation review, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model of data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers view Qur’anic values not as abstract religious concepts but as practical ethical guidelines that must be embedded into daily behavior, interpersonal interactions, and learning routi9nes. Integration occurs through lesson planning infused with moral objectives, value-centered classroom activities, reflective dialogue, and narrative-based instruction that links Qur’anic teachings with real-life situations. Teachers also employ strategies such as habit formation, experiential moral tasks, compassionate discipline, and role modeling to facilitate character internalization. These practices collectively form a moral ecosystem that enables students to experience, practice, and reflect upon Qur’anic ethics in their daily school life. The study concludes that the effectiveness of Qur’anic-based character education depends on its holistic implementation, where values are consistently demonstrated by teachers, reinforced within the learning environment, and absorbed through continuous behavioral and spiritual engagement. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Islamic pedagogy and highlights the importance of integrating Qur’anic values in nurturing morally grounded and socially responsible learners
Evaluation of the Rationality of Antibiotic Use in Pneumonia Patients Using the Gyssens Method
Pneumonia is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The irrational use of antibiotics in pneumonia management can reduce therapeutic effectiveness and increase the risk of antimicrobial resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the rationality of antibiotic use in pneumonia patients at Hospital X using the Gyssens method. This research employed a descriptive observational design with a retrospective approach, utilizing medical record data of adult inpatients diagnosed with pneumonia during the period of January–December 2024. A total of 86 patient records meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Evaluation was conducted using the Gyssens method by comparing the appropriateness of therapy with the Guidelines for the Management of Adult Pneumonia issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Regulation No. 28 of 2021) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America/American Thoracic Society (IDSA/ATS, 2023) guidelines. The results showed that the most frequently used antibiotics were Ceftriaxone (34.88%), Azithromycin (32.56%), and Levofloxacin (32.56%). The most common duration of therapy was five days (53.9%). Based on the Gyssens categories, rational antibiotic use (category 0) was found in 57 cases (66.28%), while the remaining cases were categorized as I (6.98%), IIa (11.63%), IIIa (9.30%), and IIIb (5.81%). These findings indicate that most antibiotic use at Hospital X was rational; however, continuous monitoring and periodic evaluation through the Antimicrobial Resistance Control Program (PPRA) are still necessary to optimize therapeutic effectiveness and prevent antibiotic resistance
Exploring the Benefits of Kusir as a Complementary Effort to Alleviate Fluor Albus in Adolescent Girls
Fluor albus or vaginal discharge is a common reproductive health problem among adolescent girls. When abnormal, it can interfere with daily activities, cause discomfort, and potentially lead to more serious health issues if left untreated. Despite this, many adolescents are reluctant to report symptoms to parents or health professionals because the issue is considered sensitive. This situation highlights the need for safe, acceptable, and effective complementary therapies to manage fluor albus in adolescents. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the traditional herbal medicine KUSIR, made from turmeric and betel leaf, in reducing the severity of fluor albus among adolescent girls. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest posttest control group design. A total of 64 adolescent girls participated and were divided into an intervention group receiving KUSIR herbal treatment and a control group without intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to examine changes before and after treatment and the Mann Whitney U test to compare outcomes between groups. The findings showed a clear reduction in the severity of fluor albus in the intervention group compared to the control group. Mann Whitney U analysis indicated a significant difference in posttest scores, with a higher mean rank in the intervention group than in the control group. The Wilcoxon test confirmed that all participants in the intervention group experienced a decrease in symptoms. KUSIR herbal treatment is effective as a complementary therapy for reducing fluor albus severity in adolescent girls. Turmeric and betel leaf offer a natural, affordable, and acceptable alternative for adolescent reproductive health care

Haemosporidian Parasites in Domestic and Wild Birds
This study aims to provide brief information about the role of haemosporidian parasites in birds and significant implications for avian health, population dynamics, and control efforts. Haemosporidian parasites, belonging to the phylum Apicomplexa, are a diverse group of protozoan organisms that infect a wide range of vertebrate hosts, including birds. These parasites have a complex life cycle, with both sexual and asexual stages, and are transmitted by blood-feeding insects such as mosquitoes, midges, and blackflies. The potential impact of these parasites include a wide range of health issues in infected birds, including anemia, decreased body condition, and reduced reproductive success. Additionally, the distribution of parasitic populations within individual hosts can lead to complex interactions between the host and its parasites, which can influence the overall population structure and dynamics of both the host and the parasite. The prevalence and genetic diversity of haemosporidian parasites can also vary depending on various factors, such as the migratory patterns of birds, availability of suitable vectors, and environmental conditions in different regions. In conclusion, haemosporidian parasites play a crucial role in the dynamics of bird populations, influencing their health, fitness, and population structure. Understanding the complex interactions between these parasites and their avian hosts is essential for developing effective strategies for the conservation and management of bird populations
Analysis of Risk Factors Associated with Measles Incidence in Toddlers in South Halmahera Regency
Measles is an internal disease (VPD) caused by Morbilivirus. This disease is characterized by the appearance of fever, reddish spots, cough, runny nose, red eyes and rashes all over the body which generally occurs in children. Measles, also known as Morbili or Measles, is a disease caused by the measles virus of the Paramyxovirus group. Transmission can occur through air that has been contaminated by droplets (spit) of an infected person. This case tends to attack early childhood and elementary school age children. Once a person has had measles, he or she will have lifelong immunity to the disease The aim of this research is to determine the factors related to the incidence of measles in toddlers in South Halmahera Regency. The research design used is quantitative research using a "case control" approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample of 106 consisting of 53 case groups and 53 control respondents.
