    Get PDF
In the context of Indonesian society which is pluralistic and vulnerable to religious-based social friction, a solid theological foundation is needed to build a culture of religious moderation. So far, Christian theology has often been perceived as exclusive because of its focus on the doctrine of salvation, so that it is less considered contributive to interfaith dialogue. However, recent developments in contextual theology and public theology show that Christology—especially through the narrative of the cross and kenosis—has great transformative power in building an inclusive social ethic. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with a literature study approach and contextual theological analysis. This study concludes that Christology can be a bridge that spans differences, rejects extremism, and encourages collaboration in building a just, peaceful, and respectful society

The congregation of GBKP Batang Serangan often understands suffering through a doctrinally rigid perspective that assumes every form of suffering is a direct consequence of personal sin. This assumption creates pastoral challenges, as it may lead to stigmatization of those who suffer and obscure the biblical view of God’s grace and love. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between sin and suffering within the understanding of the GBKP Batang Serangan congregation, focusing on analyzing congregational perceptions regarding the direct connection between sin and suffering, and its impact on their faith life. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with five key informants and quantitative data collected from 79 respondents through questionnaires. The findings reveal that although most congregants still associate suffering with sin, they also recognize that righteous individuals may experience suffering. These insights highlight the need for deeper theological formation to help congregants develop a more holistic and biblical understanding of suffering in their spiritual journey

Measuring service performance is crucial for a church as a religious organization. In the business world, service performance measurement typically uses a balanced scorecard (BCS), which can also be used within the church. The Full Gospel Fellowship International Church in Plamongan Indah, Semarang, has been using a balanced scorecard (BCS) for some time, but the results have not been satisfactory. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a balanced scorecard (BCS) design to improve the church's service performance. This study, which uses the Sequential Explanatory Mixed Method, produces a strategy map with ten interconnected strategic objectives from the four perspectives of the balanced scorecard (BCS). The ten strategic objectives consist of two strategic objectives from the financial perspective, two strategic objectives from the customer perspective, three strategic objectives from the internal business process perspective, and three strategic objectives from the learning and growth perspective. Through these ten strategic objectives, a church can apply them in planning, implementing and evaluating the performance of church services periodically to be able to continue to experience improvements

The practice of making vows has been found to potentially deviate from its authentic theological meaning among members of the Huria Kristen Indonesia (HKI) Special Resort Tarutung. Preliminary observations indicate that some congregants tend to understand vows in a transactional manner, perceiving them as a form of "bargaining" with God. This study aims to examine the concept of vows from a dogmatic theological perspective and to analyze its relevance for the HKI congregation. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing questionnaires administered to 45 respondents and in-depth interviews with five key informants. The findings reveal that 93% of respondents have made vows and 97% believe that vows influence their relationship with God; however, only 20% consistently fulfill the vows they have made. This indicates a significant gap between commitment and practice. The study concludes that the relevance of understanding vows for the HKI congregation lies in the importance of cultivating a proper attitude of faith in relationship with God, in which congregants are encouraged not to treat vows as obligations or transactions, but to express gratitude to God through Faith Commitments that arise from obedience and sincere service
